its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

I'm still confused about the $130 thing.

It's money dude- it makes the world go 'round.

This is a business. Sure, it's cool that Bungie actually has people that interact with us on their main forums and whatnot, but you have to understand that times are changing, people are demanding, the market is always either supplying or in scarcity......

Microsoft is trying to make money. Bungie is trying to make money. People just want money. It was a bit strange that they go out of their way to do the $130.00 pack system, but you know what? If I hadn't already made my pre-order, I would have bought it anyway.

Making us buy 360's to play the map......it's all in accordance with the market. Because I was one of the people who said he'd stick with regular Xbox until Halo 3, but when I heard about the Beta, and the new maps, Microsoft had a new 360 in me.

This is just the way the economy works. It sucks sometimes, but hey, what can 'ya do?

It wasn't a bungie decision though.

Now it's THAT kind of attitude, that allows Microsoft to do absolutely BOGUS things like this.

The price will only change when people stop sitting down and shutting up, and actually say something!

If halo fans were ever good at something, it was complaining? Why is it not happening when it is most important?

I hope you know that money is important and the reasons they make the games are for money. I would be happy as a lark if I were in their shoes and the price raised because they such a hardcore fanbase no doubt they will sell like hotcakes. Do you want to earn as much money as you can? Or would you like to simply please a bunch of fans that will still be loyal either way? Money is the answer my friend and without it you wouldn't have Bungie right now.

You completely missed the point of this whole thread. I'm guessing you didn't actually read it.

Bungie has the power to change it. Whether you're willing to believe that or not.

Stop making the game?

You see it's not there decision. There are owned by M$ and M$ will be making those kind of decisions.

Hold on. If I read correctly, one of your largest points here is "The Price for the Legendary edition and Halo 3 is too high." Sounds like someone got their pre-order bumped up 30 dollars..

Slow down and use your brain for a moment.

All new releases are 60 dollars. $130 is a classic example of "You get what you pay for." Bungie doesn't have to change that, and they are a company. They're working for money. Sure, they love the game, and they love the fans, but they still want the money.

If Bungie didn't make you pay 60 dollars, they would fall behind, as everyone else in the business is doing it. Use your common sense. Just because Bungie loves their games and their fans, doesn't mean they should lose money on it. It's still a business.

You're living in a dreamworld, Neo.

I guarentee you, Frankie likes his job, I think he finds it a blast. He loves talking to his fans, and telling them about this cool little blade of grass he found. I think, despite all the crap he goes through, Achronos enjoys his job and I think he enjoys the interaction with the fans. Even Bungie, down to their programmers, one of which I've talked to and played with on Xbox Live, have a great sense of humor and they're a fun group of guys who truly love their job, and love their fans.

If you go to any of the big events around the gaming industry, you'll notice the Bungie employees up and about, and plenty of people can give you great stories about it. I might not shovel out $130 for Halo 3, but I'm still going to buy Halo 3. You don't need the helmet, if you don't want it. You don't need the extra bonus DVDs, if you don't want. No one is making you pay for the extra.

Bungie made us pay 10 dollars extra for the Halo 2 collector's edition, because there was ten dollars extra worth of stuff. This little collection here looks entirely worth $130. If you don't think so, I can't really force that opinion on you, so you can go on babbling about how Bungie has betrayed us, and 'sold out'.

You know what?

You don't want to pay 130 dollars, don't! I can't stand all these people acting like helpless guppies with this weird attitude or mindset where they have to buy this, as it's the only way to get Halo 3.

Um, actually Zag, I was SMART enough, not to pre-order. I don't pre-order until I have an official price and an official release date.

Actually, I bought Crackdown and Rainbow Six: Vegas for 60 dollars, so if there's some weirdness going on at my local Wal*Mart...

... So? It's 10 dollars more, for a really good game. The fact that they dare slap a 60 dollar price tag on it says to me that this game is going to be really really good.

You made your decision to not pre-order and wait, so you have what you want otherwise you would not have made that decision. I'm done I have said what I think, please, let's not get into this.

This is a rant. This is what my rant the other day was gonna be, but I ran out of steam halfway through. It won't happen this time. Some things just need to be said. And I implore you to actually READ this, before you post.

Bungie has soldout on us, and become corporate shills(sp?). They still have some good, individual employees, but as a company, its gone all to heck.

This was essentially the them of my last rant, but I couldn't write it. I thought that Bungie still cared, when they announced their Friends & Family Beta after Microsoft announced the Public Beta. I thought it was a big FU to microsoft. Now it seems more like an easy way of allowing their friends and family into the beta as a loophole because of the insane the requirement to get into the beta were.

Then came the $130. You all know of what I speak. Okay. So. Until now, all first party 360 titles have been 50 dollars. Why charge 60 for Halo 3? I understand adding 10 bucks for the collectors edition. It's perfectly reasonable. But adding 10 bucks because it's Halo 3? THAT is not reasonable. Now, we all, including retailers even, expected to pay 100 dollars for the Legendary Edition. Now, this was pushin it, but I was prepared to pay. It was the price that made the most sense. Then they come out and say 130 dollars???? I sincerely hope that somebody got stabbed in the face(bungie terminology) for this. 130.....gosh. Man. I. Will. Not. Spend. That. Much. On. One. Game.(excuse the periods, this is a rant).

Now, I don't pretend to think it was Bungie who decided this. I am actually willing to wager money that they didn't. I guarantee you it is some sniveling high ranking weasel at Microsoft who has never even played Halo, or likely any games for that matter. But that argument defending bungie is just rationalization.

Bungie is freakin Bungie man. They created halo. They saved the XBox. They gave XBox Live it's life(subsriptions doubled overnight upon h2's release). They are BUNGIE! They have way more leverage than anyone seems willing to admit. Bungie can do what Bungie wants, because Halo 3 will sell 360's, and lot's of em. Bungie can say that they know that 60 dollars is wrong. They can say that they know that 130 dollars is wrong. They can lower the price. You don't believe me? Well, you aren't giving Bungie enough credit.

But will this happen. No. Not a chance. Not until Bungie gets back into making games for the fact that they love games and they love their fans. Not for money, power, fame, or anything else. Bungie needs to get out and play some games(other than WoW). Bungie needs to get out on forums and start talkin to people about games, and halo. "but they don't have training! they'll give away the fact that there will be guns in Halo 3!" Well give them your "training." Your employees should be worth that much to you.

This has ended my Bungie Fandom. Do I still like the few Bungie employees I have interacted with? Yes(with the exception of a certain bald scot). Do I still respect that fact the Bungie allows us to have these awesome forums? Of course. Do I still love halo with a fiery passion? More than definitely. But do I love Bungie anymore? No. Not until they end the corporate sellout-ness, and start caring about games and fans above all else.

$100 was the pre-release estimate that was released to give the consumers an Idea of the final price. An extra $30 isn’t going to kill you assuming you have a job.

  • 03.17.2007 10:14 AM PDT

I actually thought that $100 for Legendary was cheap. Considering all it comes with, I still even think the Legendary Edition is still a little underpriced, especially if there's only a limited amount.

They need to make money or Bungie will cease to exist. I would gladly dish out $80 for a regular 360 game (w/o bonus content) knowing that Bungie made it. I really don't see what the problem is.

So........what can you do? Boycott Bungie?

Because 1, that won't work (the game is already too hyped for anyone to really care about a boycottt) and 2, you wouldn't even be able to use Bungie's forums for that kind of thing.

It's good that you're a consumer willing to point out a flaw you think is in a market, but in this world, it's about money. And if Microsoft is trying to maximize their profits without upsetting the majority of the consumers, they're going to do it.

I don't see the bundle increase as Bungie selling out, nor does it end my "Bungie Fandom".

Breaking the unwritten rule that all first party games have to be $50 isn't that big of a deal to me, especially when I'm already buying games at $60.
