Dont get yourself worked up. We pay $100 for every game.

£40 / $80 if we're lucky.

That really sucks.

I'm pissed too about how many decisions Microsoft has made that do not seem to be in the best interest of Halo fans.

If MS pushes Bungie too hard, more of the core employees will leave. And then I'll stop caring about Bungie.

But I'm going to buy Halo 3. Probably not the legendary version anymore, but I'm in it for the game, not the extras.

Ach! Was ist los?

You know, I could spend $2000 on an STI 2011 with a 6" bull barrel, full length dust cover, adjustable tritium sights, RecoilMaster springs and compensator, jet-funnel magazine well, extended beavertail and ambidexterous mudflaps, an EOTech Holosight and a trigger job that'll let me dump fourteen .45 rounds into a less-than-one-inch circle all day...

But when all's said and done, a $200 Norinco M1911A1 is all I need to win a fight.

Think about that.

Wow some people take this site way to personally and seriously. Bungie makes games. They can price it what ever they want. If they want to charge 130 buck s for a special edition of Halo 3, good for them. Do you have to buy it? No, but I am because I want it. Honestly, I could care less about the morales and personal lives of the bungie employees, I only care about how good Halo 3 is and if Halo and Halo 2 have any say about it, than I won't be displeased.

If you want to complain about money and things costing too much, talk about Exxon Mobil.

I don't have to buy Halo 3 if I don't want to, but I have to buy gas to get places.

Ooo. I liked that metaphor.

As for the game, yeah, I'm angry about it being so much, but there's nothing we can really do about it.

Agreed. But uh, the STI 2011 with custom parts-- Wait, did you say with mud flaps? I don't need that.

Until now, all first party 360 titles have been 50 dollars. Why charge 60 for Halo 3?

Actually, the last few first party games have been $60. Only the launch firsty party games were $50. Gears of War was $60 for the standard edition. Crackdown was $60. Viva Pinata was $60. Fuzion Frenzy was $60 (even though it's not worth $5). Forza Motorsport 2 will be $60. And so will Halo 3.

Wait, did you say with mud flaps? I don't need that.

Mudflaps: thumb safeties and slide releases with their finger-contact portions extended, often up to twice the length of the original M1911 versions. These are very popular on competition guns like the 2011, where speed is everything, but can easily become a lethal liability on carry pieces due to the ease with which they can be snagged on clothing or accidentally tripped while firing.

For comparison, here's a plain and simple Springfield M1911A1 and a hideously "upgraded" AMT Hardballer.

The price is something i am rather miffed about to. I mean i ended up buying Gow against my better judgement for £50. Was i ripped off? Hell yes. That game was a peice of pish and was overhyped.

Look at Halo 3.

Is it overhyped; possisbly. Will it be a great game; probably. Will the masses spend £50-60 or whatever that is in dollars to buy the game; Definatly.

Thats the long and the short of it, bungie can't do much about this im sorry to say. It'd be nice if all games were free and the people of earth could dance together in harmony in a classless perfect society.

Is it going to happen? No.

Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

As about five people before me stated, you don't have to buy the Legendary edition! It's an option to the "hardcore" Bungie fans.
I'll probably not end up buying the Legendary Edition (although I have a friend who definitely will), but I'll be happy even without a collector's helmet.
Stop ranting about people selling out and realize that if they didn't make the game, you'd be twice as screwed.

The prices aren't that outrageous. Regular Halo costs the same as other 360 games, $60. They add $10 for the limited edition, the same thing they did for Halo 2. And I can see why they charge $130 for a collectors item helmet, game, and case thingy.

If anything, the Legendary Edition is cheaper than what I expected it to be (cheaper than Steel Battalion).

  • 03.17.2007 12:57 PM PDT

I'm not sure where you buy your games Kilroy, but I paid $60 for Crackdown, Lost Planet, Oblivion and just about every big 360 release in the past year. That is what new 360 games cost. So we're not being gouged any more for Halo 3 then any other game. Here's the price list from Best Buy.

Ghost Recon 2 = $60

Crackdown = $60

Lost Planet

Gears of War = $60

As long as there is an option for us fans who just want the basic game, I have no problem with Bungie charging as much as they want for collectors edition sets.

But will this happen. No. Not a chance. Not until Bungie gets back into making games for the fact that they love games and they love their fans. Not for money, power, fame, or anything else. Bungie needs to get out and play some games(other than WoW). Bungie needs to get out on forums and start talkin to people about games, and halo. "but they don't have training! they'll give away the fact that there will be guns in Halo 3!" Well give them your "training." Your employees should be worth that much to you.

Besides your misinformed pricing rant, everything else you talk about is non-sensical jibberish. Bungie needs to to get out on the forums and talk to their fans? What do you think 80% of the playlist updates had to do with? Fans! Fans wanted SWAT, fans wanted BR starts, fans wanted a bazillion map, weapon set and gametype tweaks, and just about all of them have been implemented.

What other online game has let their fans come up with their own playlist (Team Carnage)? What other online game has came out with updates, new maps and gametypes over two years after launch?

I like your passion Kilroy, but I disagree with every single sentence of every paragraph you wrote.

Through the years I've seen games getting more and more expensive, and with the arrival of the euro, my wallet became quite thin thanks to games. Nevertheless, I keep buying them. I like games. And games become more and more expensive to develop, so I'm willing to dish out a few extra credits.
So, a 130 dollars (perhaps even euros!), is a lot for just a game.

A while ago, I would have (and I did) complained about Bungie selling out, milking the cash cow, etc. But once you stop caring, things become much brighter. If I can't afford the game, I won't buy it. If I don't have enough money for the special edition, I'll take the regular. If I really want it, but can't get it, I'll wait for the game to be placed in the "budget box".
Should I however have enough money for that special edition, that new house, or whatever it is I want to purchase, I'll do that.

If you can't pay the bill, than don't, no amount of complaining is going to change that.

Thank you for not getting into beavertails and checkering.

I find that a Commander-style grip safety combined with the judicious application of skateboard tape works quite well.

Returning to the original topic, I get the feeling that Kilroy might be better off with Half-Life; it's cheap, has lots of replay value and bazillions of free and quite excellent mods created by its fanbase.

If that ain't a swell deal, I don't know what is.

Yeah, It kind of sucks. Quiet a shock. But I'll get it. I pay a lot for bad games, this is bound to be good and it's probably worth it. A $30 jump is pretty shocking though.

I have to say it nice to see our ninjas spamming and agruing an oppsosing view by way of bad jokes and ambarrassment. And look the suck-ups follow. Some nice thoughts there guys, way to go. I wonder where the kids get their ideas from. Nice. I can feel the love.

I like to Rollick

His problem is with the mystical rule that "First-Party" games can't be more then $50, and he holds that rule in such high-regard that because of Halo 3 being $60 he is no longer a bungie fan.

I don't know why he has such a problem with it since as you pointed out there are comparable titles that do retail for $60. I don't know why he so stuck up on the point that since it is a first party game it can't be more than $50. I could see that if Microsoft went on record saying that, but I have never heard of that.

It's worth $60 to me so I don't have a problem with it.
