The site looks like every other POS gaming portal site out there. To be honest I am very disappointed.
There I said it...
To elaborate I think that the construction of the site was done very well and am glad to see the absence of the flash navigation and the adoption of CSS. However after seeing what Bungie has to offer from a graphics/artists end, this site just lack all the way around.
* There doesn't seem to be any consistent thought in the typography.
* The ratios of spacing and sizes are all over the place (this site is actually worse on the natural flow of the eye than the last... I mean look at the footer and the columns on the main page).
* There is no real contrast in the site to stop a person from scanning to grab their attention with something new.
* Cross browser support is just not here, for example on the profile pages in FireFox wrapping text overlays the previous line, I am just shocked it was released in this condition.
* There are dead links or anchor tags all over the site.
* The icon graphics are poorly constructed and offer no kind of iconography.
Bottom line, a let down. I mean Bungie can push out a release date of a game over and over until its just right yet we wait for years for a new site and too be honest it looks like they did it within a weeks time and didn't even bother to test it much less blue print it. I hope Halo 3 is getting more love.
PS. I have been doing web sites for about 7 years now so I do know a little something about web 101 design principles. I am not trying to be mean, just trying to offer up some constructive criticism. Looking forward to Halo 3!
