Hey Frankie, as a fellow web designer, employee of a game publisher/developer, & Bungie fan; I applaud your redesign. Gone is the clunky Flash nav! It's certainly far more usable and definitely slick. Now, if it would only validate... ;)

Functionality wise things look good and as for navigation things are 200% easier to find, but visually it looks like every other commercial website and has no distinguishing features. the site lacks a sense of artistic creativity like the previous one did, this makes it feel detaching and less welcoming like the previous website.

come on guys you can do better than this.
i know that the websites function is more important than its look and feel but the feel of the previous site is what made it special. Bungie is supposed to be a creative powerhouse not a commercialist, the website should portray that.

The color of the reply/title boxes on the forums is a little blinding. To me, the white box looks like the browser is loading an image. (yes, I'm too lazy to look at the status bar to see if "Done" is there or not.)

I love it! especially all the new stats. Now if it could only add up the total time playing halo 2 in games. thatd be awesome and save me the time of going through 9719 games to see how long each one was

Some kids may look at it and say, "Those guys were right, I have no life!"

For the record - the previous nav wasn't flash, it was Javascript/CSS, just like the one we have now (only more complicated).

As for the validation - you'll find that this site nearly passes validation as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. I'm of the opinion that validation for the sake of validation is silly - it works, and we didn't need any browser specific style sheets to do it. The fact that it doesn't validate completely is not a huge deal when considered in that light.

one word "Awsome!" The site *IS* 10x better to navigate and is easier to look at your stats, good work guys!
Plus the fact that the old one was a *tiny* bit dull but still was easy to navigate certain things. :P

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Sexy, sexy, sexy, sexy sexy. I realise that is a lot of -blams-, but I think I got the point across. Maybe Shmexy is a better word to use.

EDIT
Sex is no longer cencored. Cool.

I like it.

Especially since it gives YOU (You, Frankie) the tools YOU need to put more videos on the site. Y'know, like the dancing Ragemaster and a demonstration of the new coffeemaker.

You guys DID get one of those silver automatic coffee makers that the campus got, right? no? Er...

The new site is awesome!!! I love the addition of stats in terms of kills, times killed and the percentage ratio. I'm so pumped for H3.

Looks wicked dudes!!! Much easier than the old codger!

2 things though.....

1 - Total time played would be a great (and slightly scary) statistic

2 - When i click "My Halo 2 stats" in the drop down box i seem to get random people then me on the third attempt! the rule of 3 again huh!

Sorry make that 3....

3 - Should be able to customise your time zone so games are shown at their correct time for you not all PDT

I don't understand why the clan pages still show stats, as Clanmatch is dead and gone. And now, with most clans, the pages just show an error message, which is not comforting. I think you should also incorporate the clan's members into the main page somehow, instead of being a pop-up. It just seems completely wrong to use a pop-up for that reason, and not to mention it's useless.

Also, I hope they plan on polishing things up a bit (I didn't read the article, if they mentioned this), as in some places, like messages telling you updates have went through successfully, the padding is completely thrown off and is an eye-sore. The design's nice, it just needs a lot of tweaking. The implementation of AJAX in some of the user's pages is genius, and I love the new emblem chooser.
