If you don't already know, the signature that was once at the bottom of everyone's post is now only visible if you roll over the user's icon. I've seen some people who don't like this at all, but I think that it is a perfect spot to put the signature.

Especially since there was this trend where people would try to make their signature more "attentiony" by adding bars and characters that were complete eyesores.

I was wondering if there's actually a widespread contempt for the signature place so please vote in the poll.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I like it better this way. It provides a cleaner look to the forums.

well i should defend my position....The sig is now no longer noticable, and when you scroll over it you can't read what the post says, talk about distracting from the body of the post....

On most forums I already end my posts like I will end this one.. But I'm not sure I want to do that. Bungie.net was nice because I could put "-{SS}Zag1" at the end, so it kind of placed it there for me.

Hmm. I like it, and at the same time, I don't. I just hate how it cuts off the bottom some.. :\

NO!!!

I hate the new place for the sigs, before if something in someone's sig caught my eye, I'd read it. Now, if I want to see an interesting sig I need to look for it.

And, sigs were part of each person in the community. People were Identified by their sigs, their Avatar, and (duh) their name.

It'd be nice to have that back.

Plus, the bottom half of the sig is cut off.

Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

General displeasure! Contempt! Idle threats! Half assed reasons why sigs should be put back! ................acceptance.

That about sums it up.

there seems to be less space in the signature, I had a line cut off, maybe it's the box size? I don't know

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

Well at least now I can "hide" stuff in my sig.

  • 03.20.2007 12:52 PM PDT

I like it. But I voted against it. Meh, I'm a rebel.

  • 03.20.2007 12:53 PM PDT

Go Chiefs

I like it. It took me by surprise...I hadn't heard anyone make that suggestion anyway.

People are probably far too lazy to write an elaborate signature on all their posts. Hopefully.

  • 03.20.2007 12:54 PM PDT

Well if I have to choose between the old and the new, I prefer the new.

Honestly though I'd rather have an option in my profile that allows me to toggle where the signature is displayed.

Personally, I find signatures annoying and I like that I no longer have to look at them. It also helps that the general population is no longer forced to see the idiotic or offensive content that many people put in their signatures. I do understand why some people dislike the change and I even understand why they find value in the signature being prominently displayed as it used to be... but if I can't have a choice to hide it, I prefer it to be hidden by default.

It is the post that will now get another member's attention. If someone makes a post that I think is valid, or important, or well thought out, I may think to myself, "who is this guy?" and mouse over his name. I then see a short blurb about him and I see his sig (if he has one).

In other words, the post is more important than the sig and the post is what makes people want to see your sig.

Previously, an attention-getting sig could sometimes overshadow the member's post. That's a bad thing IMO. Like when commercials become more enjoyable than the television show they are interrupting.

I don't think that sig's "distract" from posts, I think that the new layout is intended to make sure the focus is on the posts and little else.

Who is this guy?

Recon? Huh. Seems like he enjoys blabbing, and uh.. What's this? Crayons? Tozt? This guy is weird. I should probably check more of his posts. Holy cow, he does like to blab. I should send him a PM.

...
That kind of process isn't too bad. I think I can get used to this.

I'd still prefer more borders to seperate 'areas' of one's post. (such as avatar, and the 03.20.2007 12:57 PM PDT) at the bottom. etc. It does seem cluttered, in the sense that nothing is 'contained'.. But hey, I'm just complaining. I'm sure I'll get used to all this in the next few hours.

I actually like that idea. Either do what N0F said or make an option that is specific for each user that allows them to either have sigs at the bottom of a post or where they are now for all posts, reguardless of what others set it at.

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

I mentioned my opinion in another thread, but I see the signatures as somewhat of a "mini-profile" in which a member can post a tidbit of information about themselves if they so choose. I think I may try that in the near future (when I'm not lazy).

I think its neat-o. Real cool. Reduces clutter, and makes the site much more professional and pretty.

If you would like to try this new Ninja-warning feature on me, I'm all for it.

I'm actually pleading for it.

Please?

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I’d have to agree with Achronos on this one; it's much better having the space dedicated to the actual post. The only possible down side i can see is that people might more frequently get away with having rule-breaking content within their signatures. However, i feel this is a minor cost.

The alternative is to have as Jeremiah suggested which i feel would work just as well.
