They were a waste of space. I think it was a good design decision.

The only thing that bugs me about the new design is how my cpu maxes out and the words on the screen lag behind my typing in this form (maxes the cpu in both IE and FF, but the text only lags beyind in FF, which is what I use). Also, the fact that I can't see the full medals breakdown bugs me, especially since you can't see that anywhere else, not even on the Xbox.

I agree with Recon, if you make a good post then people are going to look you up as such.

  • 03.21.2007 5:12 AM PDT

It's wonderful. It's a shame not to be able to advertise my UK clan as it's a good way of getting recruits. But whoever you are, I'm glad I no longer have to look at the -blam!- you fill the space under you posts with.

Sigs mainly serve the poster and not the reader, and that is not the point of a forum.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

I think the new place for the sig is great. In most cases it will promote people to put something more worthwhile in that space.

I agree with KP. I miss the complete medals breakdown for the game stats. I like the mouse over to see medals, but a count next to or beneath each medal would be nice.

Im glad that it doesnt make the forum look messy, Only problem is people wont look at them as much. Which makes my chapter advertisements worthless..... (-_-)

yeah i seriously removes the sense of personality that the old site had. >_>
its more likley that some one will miss some thing worthwhile, but isn't so important that you need to make a thread over.

edit: OMG it cut mine off!!!!

IT does remove the personality from some users, but it makes the forum clean

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

I do see this cutting down on the "LOL, sigged!" phenomenon that we had going.

I think now that we have the requirement to keep sigs short (or else they cut off) and to make them personal and of value, that folks with a "sig of the day" may instead focus on their posting, instead of their sigging.

Yeah I was going to mention that too. I can just imagine it now...

"lol sig-- oh, never mind..."

I feel this is the only downfall of the new restrictions as people who put quotes in there sig usually do it for a comical reason. I used to enjoy laughing at a very smart joke at the end of someones signature. Although the flip side of that is if someone really wants to put a quote in their sig, it'll make them think if it is truly worthy of sigging, especially since it will take up all the space.

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

Since the whole thing is an argument over Functionality and Practicality.

I believe the B.net team is right in this case. It allows a much more personable level of interaction as users interested in what another user has to say will check out his sig, and probably look at his profile. It's much more professional, and instead of just posting spam in your sig to broadcast to the world for people to join your group, people who are interested will have a much higher chance of joining.

Do not panic, or you will fail.

No, in fact, I hate it. Some of the best things I saw were in the sig, and now they are hidden Although, JAF's idea was pretty good.

Wow, the voting was really tight.

The thread was made, I think, the day of the update; I wonder if people's opinions changed when the spent some time with the new hawtness.

BTW: and why are some of the forum ninjas voting for the new sigs. especialy the ones that DON'T have a signiture???

Running Riot

Not voting.

The New Hotness is more reasonable because it does not kill threads with useless spam.
Oldschool Style is still pretty good for a contrasting reason: It was actually fun several times.

Signatures have become more like a 'motto' than a signature in this new format.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Groups will now PM spam me even more now, sense they cant use sigs to get members.

Bring back the old and save me from having to read the pre-written PM invite spam.

The forums are about communication. Good communication is about what people are saying in the context of a discussion. The quality of a discussion is lowered when information that is not in the context of the discussion (i.e. sigs) is inserted into the discussion. I love not having to look at sigs unless I want to.
