I like the Underground, but the forum is an eye sore. Right now it seems like 80 percent of the threads are locked. For the sake of aesthetics and user friendliness, wouldn't it be better to delete and not lock threads?

Not really. People are posting mostly "hey this site looks cool" threads in the first forum that they see. Nothing new there. But there IS good news.

We now have better tools to assist with locking threads. Now, we can lock without replying (a reply would bump the thread, not a good thing) but in addition to the lock, we can "warn" the member. The warning is similar to a blacklist, only it has no punishment associated with it. The member gets a PM from the Disembodied Soul that contains a link to their locked thread and the warning text from the ninja explaining why the thread was locked.

I think that such tools may actually end up helping all of the forums and the membership.

Let's give them a chance to work.

Thanks. I am glad you now have more Ninja weapons.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I have said this a million times:

Deleting threads leads to spam and confusion. How you ask? Say you post something stupid and Recon Number 54 stops by and deletes it. Some people might think, "Where did my thread go?" therefore being confused. That person will probaly post it again. If again it is locked that member might post a thread asking why his thread keeps missing, therefore again spams the forum.

Moderators lock a thread, leave a reason for all to see, letting the author know that it isn't suppose to be there.

Edit: But the rest of your post was right. I vote for no more spam than there already is in the Underground.
