If you hold down the trigger with the pistol, it would be so inaccurate its not even funny.Actually, you're wrong. It would be pretty amusing to see people try to write their names in the wall behind you in a pitiful attempt at blasting you away.
No, i know for a fact that if you just hold the trigger down on the Halo: CE pistol, its way more inaccurate than when you pull the trigger each shot.
As far as I'm aware firing the pistol in full auto does ruin the accuracy.
I never even knew you could hold down the trigger until about 6 months ago. That's how rubbish it is!
The guy that said "Actually you're wrong" was making a joke, the original quote said it would be so inaccurate it's not even funny, and the 2nd guy came along and said it would be quite amusing, but still inaccurate.
Anyway, my thoughts on this are that the pistol is stronger, firepower wise, however, the BR is a ridiculous weapon given the sheer retardedness of Halo 2's auto aim and ret-magnetism. Not to mention the hitboxes, you can aim a good 2 or 3 inches away from a person (complete miss on halo 1) and the bullets will miraculously curve (visibly curve or shoot out of the side of the gun) and hit the person anyway. Even around corners. If you gave the Halo 1 pistol the auto aim, hit boxes, and magnetism of halo 2, it would be extremely ridiculous, and the BR isn't far from the pistol in power, and seems a bit too powerful for the amount of noob-friendliness in halo 2.
[Edit]: Ah, almost forgot to mention, some of you people need to read the Halo books, (no they aren't just for nerds/geeks/fanboys) they actually do give you a good look at why some things are the way they are in the games, and are in general a really good story, especially if you like halo.
In halo 2, MC's armor is upgraded, not his shields, except for the shield recharge rate which is indeed faster. In Halo 3, MC's armor is apparently upgraded again, which would stand to reason that if the M6D does come back in its FULL GLORY in halo 3, not just some nerfed POS that bungie scooped out of their plunger like the magnum (magnum = a different gun than the M6D mind you), then the M6D would take at least one or two more head shots to kill, considering the armor/shielding upgrades.
I think for Halo 3, a good balance to the pistol would be
12 Round Clip ---> Replaced with 8 Round Clip
3 Shot Kill ---------> Replaced with 4 Shot kill.
Reload time the same
Dual Wieldable?-> Not too sure, but maybe.
2x Zoom Scope --> Should stay in, at 2x zoom. (but not while dual wielding of course)
Ammo Capacity --> 120, the same. (It's divisible by 8, 8 x 15 = 120)
There you have it.... Now the pistol would be fairly well balanced, instead of a possibility (albeit maybe not a probability) of 4 kills per clip, now you can possibly get 2 kills per clip, not too bad, considering the BR allows what, 3 kills per clip possible now, which isn't improbable with the auto aim of h2
