im afraid im gonna have to confiscate your testicles.

What are you, the Cyber police? lol.

I was thinking, since there was a Halo PC demo (which is how I got hooked on halo) will there be a H2V one? Its kind of impossible to get it if you dont have vista but what if its toned down to the area where an XP or something like that can run it? Im not really involved with any downloadable sites for software game demos and all that. If anyone has any info about it it would be much appreciated.
I just want to be experience a little bit of H2V from when it comes out to when I actually get the whole game.

Why would you want a demo? Just play Halo 2 (xbox), there ya go, you got the whole game right there.

If you were working with Hired Gun to make Halo 2 Vista, would you want to waste your time making a demo for an operating system the game isn't designed to run on?

Stop with this hopeful XP -blam!-. It's Vista-exclusive; I thought we were done with this whining.

And if they follow tradition, the demo will come out quite a while AFTER the game is out.

The reason for a demo would be because some people (such as myself) don't have an xbox, though I would like to remedy that before the release of halo3

Logically, they should, but they might not seeing as it might end up as a "loss of money".

I say "No!" on the Demo, and a "HELL NO!" on Halo 2 running on XP, give it up guys, it'll never happen, Vista is the new OS, and if you want to play Halo 2 for the PC then you have to get Vista, because I don't think Live anywhere works very well on XP, so live with it.

In all reality it is possible to force a program to run on an Operating System it wasn't designed for, but it wouldn't handle resources correctly, and it would take quite a bit of effort to make that happen.

If their is a demo, it will be a 99.999% chance it will be on Vista, they wouldn't waste possibly months to overhaul the game to work on XP like they're doing for Vista just for a demo. Also if they're is a demo, it will probably be multiplayer and very basic, such as one map (most likely coagulation which is a remake of Blood Gulch) and include the same weapons and vehicles for glitch and game testing etc. etc.

  • 03.20.2007 8:34 PM PDT

What it is.

They're not gonna release a demo of a game that is Vista-exclusive to run on a totally different OS like XP. And they sure as hell aren't gonna release a demo before the game releases, even though it would be cool.

Sry bud, 0% chance on H2V demo on WinXP.. but I'm sure there would be a H2V demo for Vista, cause it would showcase Live For Windows quite well, but as others have stated, it will be after release, maybe a few months.

Ugh, it's not a question of possibility, but of probability. It isn't impossible, but it's definitely improbable. As in, it ain't gonna happen.

Looking back on Halo PC, the demo was released half a month after the initial game's release date. Halo PC was released on September 30th, 2003, and, if I'm not mistaken, the demo was released exclusively on IGN.com on October 16th, 2003 (It did however virully migrate to other sites shortly afterwards). So it may be possible that there will be a demo for H2V. Though, as Kim said, it's a probability quandry and not one of possiblity. However, for me, I have to say that I think it is possible and may even be probable that there will be one. I think the release of the demo the first time around only helped boost profits for the game, and it would be foolish to not emulate that action for this release.

Cheers.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

personally I think that there wil be a demo...

there are already vista only games/demos out there...

the original Halo PC/Mac demo helped sell A LOT of copies and is still a very popular download to this day...

A demo (even vista only) will only help Bungie.

  • 03.22.2007 4:03 PM PDT

What it is.

The only way i would like a demo for, is to see the performance of my system running the game. Other than that i already know what the game is about, but i know they could at least release a single-player demo because Live Anywhere launches May 8th so multiplayer is out of the question. But because of what i just said, that would only be another reason to not release a demo, because a demo usually has one single-player and one multiplayer map.

Sweet, it appears there may in fact be a H2V demo.

Cheers.

(BTW, I edited by above post [initially saying there probably wouldn't be a demo] without trekkie's discovery. Thus I've come to the realization that I have ESP.)

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

If you look around, all of the game pages have the "game demo: coming soon" thingy.

It's just a standard page format. It doesn't mean there will, or will not, be a demo.

But there is either a demo or "Coming soon!" Therefore, there will eventually be a demo.

  • 03.22.2007 7:28 PM PDT

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

They can't do a demo for anything other than Vista or they would be even more inundated with "See?!?! You bloodsuckers are just trying to make money off all of us. You could make Halo2 for XP if you wanted to!"

One thing I've kind of been wundering about is whether or not there may be a page on Microsoft to ge tHalo 2Vista using Direct2Drive. I've noticed quite a few games are beginning to be offered that way.

*please excuse my poor spelling, I just had wisdom teeth out and I'm a little dopey from the painkillers.*
