So, Newer Hotness and all that. I'm sure we've all something to say. What I've got is fairly trivial, but I think it'd be useful to get out there. I'm talking of the removal of the character limit in signatures. I think the reason why should be fairly obvious. With the Newer Hotness, we now have to mouse-over the user's profile to see the signature. The detail box seems to be at a static size, to the point of cutting off people's signatures.
What I want to suggest is because of this already limited space, we should remove (Or increase the quota) of the limit. As an example, take my signature. It's clean and tidy, and in my opinion looks decent. But even still, I'm already at the limit. You'll notice that my signature looks rather short, but remember that I'm using a lot of BBCode when I put in links.
Now, some may say I could use TinyURL. But there's a problem with that. People are less likely to click a masked URL, as it could lead anywhere, unless they've set it to not automatically redirect them and instead show what the real URL is. But that creates a hassle for the user who may click, and because of that small annoyance it may stop them all together.
Because there's probably going to be some arguments against my own, in reasons of why we shouldn't have a limit (E.G., people spamming "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" for the length of space), so I'll leave that side of opinion fairly open, because no doubt I'll miss some views.
If it's too hard (In either actions and results), maybe giving more length to the limit (1,000 characters maybe?) or not counting BBCode in the character limit. I'm not an advanced web designer, so I wouldn't know the possibilities of going around this. But if anything could happen, I'd like to know if it would happen.
Opinions, comments, etc?
EDIT: Small redundancy.
