Okay, I purchased a new computer, and it's bundled with Vista. After numerous calamities with getting gaming to work with my computer, I ran into something very irritating.

To sum it up, I can't use my router when connected to my Vista PC. Whenever the PC is connected, my Xbox, as well as my DS, will not connect to the internet. However, when I disconnect the PC, they connect just fine.

This never happened with XP. What's going on?

You purchased a new computer, perhaps that, and not Vista, might be causing the problem?

I'm not entirely certain that this topic has anything to do with HALO 1 & 2 FOR PC...

Sorry friend, I don't know the answer to that one and I'm not sure how many people here would know either. In any case, hope you get it resolved.

thats interesting. I have 3 computers and my xbox connected to my router. 2 computers are using XP and the other 1 is using Vista, (my new laptop). I have ZERO preoblems connecting to the interent. You might want to check and see if your router is setup to provide access to that many connections. Also check to see if any of the units are sharing the same ip address, that always causes a problem. Good luck!

Again, everyone blames Vista.

Well, it couldn't be an IP conflict, since I receive that automatically. The only change is moving from a computer with XP to a computer with Vista. There isn't any hardware problems, so it's safe to say the problem is correlated to the OS.

Xbox.com is having problems, otherwise I'd post this on their forums.

Sounds to me like your router isn't set to automatically give out IP addresses or you didn't configer your network settings on your Vista PC, you ran through network setup wizard, right?

If your PC isn't properly configured then it will do what you are stating, happened to me a few times while configuring customer networks and our warehouse network for new PC's and devices, for whatever reason there was an IP address conflict, and the whole network failed because the address of the new comp was off by one digit, just make sure all your settings are set to automatic on your PC.

Your router may also have kept a memory of your old comp and is trying to give your new one a new IP address but doesn't have one available, I hate it when they do that, you will have to manually query the router for an IP address even if you have your settings on automatic.

What it is.

I think it's a personal problem. The OS is fine with networking, and it's been fine since Beta 2(for me anyway). Run the network wizard and make sure you set it up right, btw, there is such thing as the help and support thing on Vista.

It's your network settings, I can almost gaurantee it.

I'm running vista on my new machine... my PC (as well as my brother's laptop and parents laptop) can all connect to our wireless router, as can my brothers' 360.... all at the same time with no problems. I've had vista for several weeks now and don't have any significant complaints.

Someone assist the OP over personal message, please. This has nothing to do with Halo 1 or 2 for PC.
