I am having problems with windows live id on my main computer. When I try to log onto bungie I get a windows live id page that tells me that the page is no longer available. This only happens on one of my computers. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Have you tried to clear your cookies, cache, and all saved info in your browser? That usually does the trick for me.

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

One does not simply grenade jump into Mordor...

I've had this problem twice since the new new hawtness. I'm guessing it's something they're working on, but it sure does make for an inconvenient experience, eh? Just to clarify:

when you attempt to browse directly to http://www.bungie.net, you are redirected to a page that says "Windows Live ID" and then something about the page no longer existing. the server returning this response is http://login.live.com. Correct? Although I'm sure we won't have to worry about it much longer, I have found a way to get around the problem. I'm not sure if the following "solution" is really a solution, or if it just happend to be what I'm doing while Bungie nurtures the site over a hiccup:

I go into my browser and clear all cookies that have anything to do with bungie, microsoft, msdn, etc. In Firefox you can clear individual cookies by going to tools->options (On windows) or edit->preferences (On Linux). Once there, click the "Privacy" tab and then click the "Show Cookies..." button. You will be presented with a straight-forward list of all the cookies and a handy search box that you can use to filter the results. To delete a cookie, simply click it and hit the delete key. If you're using Internet Explorer then the solution I suggest is to download and install a real browser and try again (hehe, sorry. you can delete your cookies in IE too, I just don't know how because I refuse to open the program for any other reason than to test the web pages I develop).

the first time I wasn't able to access bungie.net, clearing the cookies seemed to make it work. the second time I couldn't gain access, clearing the cookies didn't seem to help. I was able gain access the second time by going to http://login.live.com and logging out and then logging in again (With the Windows Live ID that is linked to my gamertag, of course). That seemed to help the second time.

Like I said, these actions might have had nothing at all to do with why I could or couldn't access the site. The redirection and subsequent 404 (Page not found) error might just be gremlins in the system during the update process, and the stuff I was doing might have had no effect other than to waste the amount of time that it took for the web folks at Bungie to clear the problem.

Good luck!

I had the same problem all day yesterday, even with cleaning out my cache and cookies. I was getting "Request Validation Errors." But it works now, so maybe chalk it up to site bugs still getting worked out.

there are no theories. There are no answers. There is only...

Try taking the check mark out of "Save username and Password".
I haven't actually had that problem, but it's possible your cookie could be expiring due to a number of reasons, in which case, trying to log in with saved info would fail.

The saved password is one problem, but not the only one. It can happen if you stay logged in for a while. It seems to be cause by the same thing that made the old B.net redirect you to the homepage every once in a while. Passport tries to refresh your login, or whatever, and it fails.

Here is a snapshot of the error, in case it hasn't been posted yet.

I wanted to see the universe, so I stole a Time Lord and I ran away.

Yeah, I can get rid of my cookies but, its getting annoying since I have to do it 2-3 times a day. Is it being worked on?

Go to Hotmail.com and sign in. Then sign out. Then come back to Bungie. That should fix the problem, and you'll avoid having to delete your cookies (I've heard that that doesn't always work anyways, if you happen to miss something).

Edit: minor typo (Why can't I just ignore those?)

Nice pr0n :P

But it's not a user error. I get the error pretty much every time I save my password and email. Cookies do not expire in less than a day.

Where? *throws the magazine under his bed* >.>

Heh. Nah, I was just too lazy to check whether any of the tabs had any information on them that I didn't want people to see... so I just covered 'em all. =P Funny how hiding something actually makes everyone just assume the worst anyways. haha.

And yeah. There are far too many people having this problem for it to be on our side. But from what I've read, Achronos has already acknowledged the problem. I think our friend Skiptrace there is just a bit behind the times. =P

Unless by "numerous reasons" he meant something on their side. Hmm... I'm not sure how exactly the cookies "expire", but if it's up to the website to decide when they expire, maybe that got broken, and it thinks that new cookies are already old. Er.. I'll just leave it to the experts now.
