Sig? I don't see a sig on anybody's posts anymore. If you mean your profile I didn't see anything there either.

I just got back from a snowboarding trip so I'm still getting used to the new (er?) hawtness.

because if seeing is believing,
then believe that we have lost our eyes

lol sweet. :P I'm liking how everything is looking so far. When I first tried to log in the page said and it didn't exist anymore, I thought it was going to be unavailable for some time to switch over to the new hawtness. I'm glad I got to halo.bungie.org all the time because they had an article on what to do.

You can contact me on msn. The other guys are too cool to give out their details.

Yeah I have a few of the mods on msn. They probably all deleted me though thinking I'm just some annoyance. That and prolly because I've only talked to like two of em and they both cold shouldered me. That's ok though. Check their profiles, some have em up, some don't.

In regards to that sometimes I can have about eight different conversations going at once. Not to mention four or five tabs open in my browser and of course things going on in the house. So if you see me on (you won't right now because Morrowind is calling me) all you need to do is shoot me the link with a brief message. If I do not respond in a couple of minutes you might want to get another mod. After I have dealt with the problem I will usually let you know. It is just sometimes I cannot have a full blown conversation because I am getting pulled in too many directions. Do not take it personally. I am usually a nice guy.

The ideas are good, and they might even be possible in this version of the site. But just keep in mind how the Bungie Team works (in game development and web development). No idea is "bad", the table is open and anyone can make a suggestion. But every suggestion is going to be torn into, searched for weakness, disassembled and rebuilt to be an improvement of the original. Even then, most ideas are discarded.

Any suggestion here (or anywhere) should be made after leaving your ego and personal pride at the door. Because if you bring it with you, it WILL get bruised.

This is true. I do not know how things work over at Bungie HQ, but I like to call the Septagon "the Crucible," and if I could, I'd vet every idea I ever have in life here so that all of you smart cynics could rip it apart and I could see if the idea is any good or not. As it is, I love running my bungie.net ideas through here and defending them against the Septagonians; I also like trying to search for holes in others' ideas. This process really helps illuminate what ideas are good and what are bad.

Recon is right.... ego is a bad thing to have in here. A brain and an ability to think outside the box are much more important.

So anyway, back on topic, I think that Achilles' post about having so many MSN windows open at once really helps to illustrate how much simpler a flagging system would be for "bad post identifying" purposes.

New Flood

I don't think we should have a new system, or a flagging system. I can see the system proposed by the OP being used to retaliate at people you don't like. And i can see people flagging loads of posts for no reason and giving the mods the run around.
Also i like the already present system of, i'm such as smartass i think i'll tell you that this is the wrong forum and PM a mod to dob you in for it. Stupid people doing the mods job for them.

I can handle all of my conversations and tabs being open. It is just sometimes I cannot have an in depth conversation with people if they report a thread to me. A flagging system could work but a dedicated group of spammers could makes us look one way and spam the crap out of a another forum. Right now if people use the PM system and MSN we can generally get to it pretty fast if we are available. Part of the problem lies in the fact that people do not use it. It is there but still they ignore the option or cannot due to various reasons (aka no messenger service allowed on the comp they are on). A flagging system that all members can use might just create more work for us Ninjas to do instead of the way it is now. I would rather have a ton of conversations open then having to go around unflagging threads should not have been flagged in the first place.

Now for the moderator PM box all I can say is I brought that up a long time ago. I can see its merits but I am not exactly sure how it can be pulled off with the current system. Mainly because it is one PM box per user. If we had that then I would be willing to give it a go. Or maybe we can have a system that allows a drop down menu that has all the mods names in it. That way you can easily send a PM to a particular one of us without having to search for a thread we have been in or go looking for our profiles. If people decide to spam us then we can easily just block them or give them a punishment from the forums as well.

Just a few thoughts I had.

Exactly - this has the unfortunate result of removing an entire group of mature, responsible adults who log onto b.net in their spare time at work from the pool of potential people to assist moderators in quickly identifying bad posts. A flagging system that works would be much more efficient and allow participation in getting rid of bad posts by many more responsible members.

You're absolutely right about this, which is why my idea includes delegating "flagging" responsibilities only to members who the ninjas and b.net staff have designated as appropriately mature and responsible. Mods could see and identify who has been flagging posts so that if posts are consistently inappropriately flagged, that user can be dealt with as needed. Without addressing other arguments and counter-arguments, which are addressed in my original thread on this issue, it is safe to say that this solution takes care of the problem of "spam-flagging."

You can always use the moderator email which is bnetmods@gmail.com. I'm not sure how often it's checked but i'll certainly be checking it more now. Ideally we would have an online/offline feature for all members at some point.

I know that I am only one person, but this is impossible for me to do. The only time I access Bungie is when I am at work, and I don't have access to emails other than throughout the building. So I personally need a different method, but what I did last time I had an incident was notified a Moderator that was on and he/she took care of it.

I think a flgging feature would be nice myself.
