Subject: Moderator Warnings.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

That's unfortunate...

I do know what it was for (and it was justly given), although I don't recall who from... I want to say Ghandi II, but I might just be holding a grudge against him from another, less-serious incident...

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Its a clean slate. It only records warnings/bans that have been given out since the update. So, if you don't do anything else, you'll be fine.

Except for me. I've already been tainted with a warning.

how'd evilcam, never mind.

i got one, and i haven't deleted any messages yet, since the NH2. but i'll keep onto them. i do hope groups will include this. and 'ninja' abilities for moderating groups as well. that'd be great! sorry if that's off-topic.

What does your rank have to be to do this again?

Actually if it was before the New Hawtness 2.0 I cannot see it.

so everyone who didn't get perma-banned starts off with a clean slate?

I am not sure about the other Ninjas but I for one kept files on members that I had dealings with. I am talking links and screenshots. That way I had evidence to back up my decision to issue a blacklist. Now I do not need to do that so much because I have the tools at my disposal to add it to members records so all the other mods can see it as well.

Probably nothing less than moderator...

The easiest, and it's still pretty hard to get, rank is "Theme Master". I believe the only privelege they get is a custom avatar...

hmm, i wouldn't have let a clean slate slide. but i have no power. how unfair. most of us have all been here a while now, not too many new members. a clean slate may ruin things in the end. but this is just the beginning, right?

A clean slate may also give people a chance to redeem themselves for something they did in the past when they didn't know the rules to well. I've noticed that the quality of posts has increased, except in the H3 forum I don't go there so I wouldn't know, with the New Hawtness 2.0. It may give people a chance to become a real part of the community.

so everyone who didn't get perma-banned starts off with a clean slate?

The data collection and entries onto a member's record started Tuesday. No previous history was logged.

We do have documentation archived over our permanent blacklists, and since those folks are not coming back, they won't really have much of a chance to get warnings or other bans.

This makes complete sense.

Another change that I heard about, but have not witnessed with my own eyes (or heard from a reliable source) is that the method/effect of a blacklist (temp or perm) has also been altered.

Previously, a blacklisted member would attempt to sign onto the site and get a warning/error page explaining that they were locked out of the site, were blacklisted by a moderator, show the blacklisting message as it was entered by the ninja and they could then go no further. Access to the site, the forums, was denied and all that they could visit was their PM box and their groups. At least that is what I think occurred. I've never been blacklisted, so I don't know the specific limits and restrictions.

I am under the impression that now when blacklisted, a member still can sign on, browse the site and view. But the message now comes up when they attempt to reply in or create a thread. In other words, for the public portions of the site, they are a "read only" member. They misbehaved in public, and they are silenced in public. But the rest of the site is available to them in the limited mode.

Again, never having seen this site from the POV of the blacklisted, I don't know the specifics. But I think that by not having the billboard of "U R bAnT!" when someone signs on, we might encourage members to see the value in having a single and properly linked account.

I think thats how it used to be it's been awhile since I was banned. But it makes more sense as previously a member could simply log out to view the forums and log back in to check messages and groups.

It's one of those FYI warnings.

After all, you ARE a poopie head.

hard to argue with that sort of logic.

:-)

nice one. in response to the long post above, yes, a single account being blacklisted would suck. so that's why everyone's acting good. i guess. that, and they're waiting to return to the shelter and loneliness of ten-member groups.

from what i've heard, permanent blacklists are different. i think you cannot even view the public forums, or groups. i don't know about PMs at all. but there wouldn't be much of a point anyway, would there? maybe those accounts just basically are like deleted, you can't do anything with them at all, and you must be signed out to even view the site's pages. that's what i know.

i've never been blacklisted, at least outside of groups. not in public forums. so i also wouldn't know too well.

Pffff.

they had 9 1/2 members.

unless they changed it from the NH1.0 then you can view groups just not public forums. I've known a few people who were Perma-banned fro some reason or another.
