fubar dilligaf

Why make it limited? Is it that you delight in dissapointing some people or are the bungie staff all planning to make a killing on ebay as if micro$oft dont pay you enough.

You know that bungie cares about quality when its made by cheap Chinese labor. It also says they make one every 12 seconds. You can tell the care thats put into them.

dude....just cuz its cheaper duznr mean its anyworse...the price isnt based on quality...ppl work for less over there...and therefor the price is less...and this is bungie....they wouldnt allow these things to be made if they werent of superb quality

  • 03.22.2007 6:25 PM PDT

I agree. Bungie has always had nice ways of doing things. I think someone that has 21 years at MS and Bungie with there perfection on these things know what they are doing.

Im sorry but im not paying $120.00 for something that some guy from China can make in 12 seconds. Thats just not me.

You may not want to buy a car in the near future, either. (That's one every two minutes in the plants I've been to in rush times... and one every 5 minutes in slack times.)

-- Steve'll point out that it's the production line that's cranking out a helmet every 12 seconds, not just one guy. Each helmet will take longer than that in total assembly time, but it only takes each employee 12 seconds to do their part of the assembly.

What, are we supposed to hand craft each one of these? Perhaps you're not familiar with modern day production but this is how every product gets made. The design and original mold was painstakingly crafted and the "cheap labor" has nothing to do with the quality of the product. In fact, the "cheap labor" is an attempt to make this product affordable for as many people as possible. Yes, it's $130, but it would be even more expensive under different circumstances.

Also a few folks have asked how much it weighs - not a whole lot. One reason is that weight = cost for worldwide freight. It doesn't feel "cheap" though if that's what you're trying to determine.

And, a few more people have asked "why can't I wear this?" - the answer here is a whole bunch of red tape and legalities. Making a wearable "toy" is a whole different category of product and is subject to a whole different set of laws and standards, that vary greatly around the world. The intention here was to make a cool collectible package for fans. I'm pretty sure though that one of our licensing partners will be making a true wearable helmet later this year....

Exactly, I made hot tubs at a factory and there were only about 30 people who work there. They made over 50 tubs a day (which is a lot considering how much goes into it.) Before someone comments on a production line, economics, or ANYTHING, they should know what they are talking about, or at least not act like a know-it-all. It really lowers your credibility.

Posted by: CC : Building 36,000 helmets per week in a six day week, equals 6,000 per day, 3,000 per 10/hour shift, 300 per hour which all translates to one every 12 seconds. For final FPP (once the Game disk RTMs and we can complete the final production into the Helmet packaging) we will do 40k per day, roughly 20k per 10 hour shift, 2,000 every hour, which is one every two seconds. It may take 10 seconds a unit, but in this case we will need five lines to carry this out.
Limited my chunky, well-toned, hot ass! 36,000 helmets made every six days!!!! What, are the shifts only gonna work for two weeks?

protects the helmet from every being touched from the time it leaves China to the time the end customer opens the box when he gets it home.
And it just HAD to be a [b]he
, didn't it?!?!?!? Do you KNOW how many females and hermaphrodites play Halo????
EDIT:Then again, it's most likely the guy/boyfriend/husband/brother/other relative who'll be out there @ midnight, even though they've reserved it....

....................

But it's not your fault, Sketchy, so great article.

Kinda was expecting a video....

------YOU CAN'T TAKE A GIRL TO THE LIBRARY!------

"When we look at other “like” items out in the market place we have seen a number of high quality collectors icons created for movie titles by various studios. These have tended to be short or very limited production. Given the scale and magnitude of the Halo 3 launch and demand exceeding 450,00 units, it requires a whole different set of thinking in terms of materials, industrial design, and deco methods. To this end I feel that challenged everybody in the extended supply and manufacturing chain to bring their “A-game.”

Should that be 45,000 or 450,000? My hope is 45,000, but I just wanted to be sure. If there's half a million of these things, then it's hardly a limited item.

A wearable helmet! ZOMG!! Wow, I feel nerdy =D

No seriously, I'll tape my Xbox 360 headset inside of it and wear it online!

CC : Labor cost in China is still well below what it would cost us to do this same helmet, or mice and keyboards for that matter, here in the USA."

So, Microsoft is slave-driving Asians because they work for less? That is not right..

Are you people really that naive? Most of the things you buy come from there, and China practically owns us because of it.
