That's another thing! People act like they've never played a video game before!!! "Can I pre-order it?" "Where do I go?" "How much does it cost?"

For Christ's sake, READ AN ARTICLE!!!!! IT'S EVERYWHERE!!!

This is a great thing and I will be getting one. I'm also sure that every one you can make will be sold. However, I believe that Bungie could have thought a little more ahead and made these things bigger.

Think about it. What does everyone say the first time you tell them about the helmet? "Can I wear it?" "No, it's only big enought for a cats head." "Awww...that would have been cool if you could wear it."

Now had Bungie made these helmets big enough for people to wear, PLUS put mics in the helmet, you would have people all over the world sitting on their couches wearing Spartan helmets while playing Halo 3. Instead they will sit on a bookshelf, which is just not as cool. But yes...I will be getting one. I just dream of what might have been....

I believe (don't take my word for it) that making the helmet human-wearable would have subject it to stringent federal/state standards on material, build, etc. + liability from people actually trying to actually use it as a helmet.

To make it human wearable, the thing would probably cost at least 200$.

"..demand exceeding 450,00 units, ..”

Should that be 45,000 or 450,000? My hope is 45,000, but I just wanted to be sure. If there's half a million of these things, then it's hardly a limited item.

Shhhh.. Don't tell anyone that!

I still don't understand the facination in the legendary edition. While the helmet is cool, I can bet that within a few months the helmet will become nothing more than a dust magnet simply because there aren't enough uses for it.

Being a fan of dust magnets, $130 is a bit much. I buy special editions for extra content (which people will probably post online), not items that will fit on a cat. I dunno, I think it is a cool idea, however, not cost efficient.

None the less Halo 3 is going to rock!

If you are Microsoft, it's an incredible idea. Especially if the demand for this thing exceeds 450k units. I think the number could be a bit high, considering many of these preorders were made under the assumption the Legendary Package would only cost $99.

Microsoft loses most money on the game itself. Marketing. Development. Tiajuana Mamas (sp?). A very small portion of the $60 price tag is actually profit for these publishers. A great way to build up some extra cash flow is through the sale of collector edition box sets, and Legendary type packages. Let's be real here, these helmets are cheap, and Microsoft is a whore for money. At least they give a lot of it to charity, and employee a lot people all over the world. I guess it could be worse. I'll be picking up the $70 dollar edition.

Bungie has always had nice ways of doing things.

So, you are saying that Bungie no longer has a nice way of doing things?

It would probably be an extra $100 - $120 per unit if built in the US, but I agree with Tinman ... I'd pay gladly knowing where the money was going. One thing in the article is that there are only 450,000 units being produced world wide .... that doesn't sound like very good odds to me. I've put my name on two pre-order lists just in case.

Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed but im n ot gonna go through evry single relpy to see if this has been addressed.

Far be it for me to question oh holy bungie and its saints. However there was one topic that wasn't brought up in this interview that I had wished to know about, Will the legendary edition also come with a metal case and if not will us legendary consumers be able to aquire the metal case without having to purchase the whole limited edition set?

Can you provide a link to the metal case that you are writing of so the rest of us can take a look at it?

You should consider really pre-ordering it now before it's to late, I have pre-ordered it yesterday but in australia the legendary costs like $200 total. I had pay a minium of $50 dollars to pre-order it. It's like what the hell?
