Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Nothing new really, but it'd seem they're not using GameSpy to list dedicated games now. That doesn't really please me very much, especially since you'll probably be expected to sign into some Microsoft sevice to even get access to dedicated games.

What's the chance of a ping time being replaced by a connection bar that remains green despite being 200ms+, like on Live? Oh, I don't want to think! ;)

Yea it really does. With live though that don't surprise me. You don't exactly need it anymore if you use a live id. Also being as Silver accounts get to play online and it costs nothing, I can't say it is that bad. Of course I have been a gold member of live since the day it first launched on the original Xbox.

I was just thinking about something.

Will Live Anywhere have the same broadband requirement as Xbox Live has?

Hopefully not. Even with broadband, as you see on Xbox Live, people deal with (occasional) extreme bouts of lag anyhow. It will upset all the PC gamers who don't have high-speed connections. I mean, we've learned how to deal with latency, but if we don't get a chance to go online in the first place, that would be pretty absurd. Perhaps, in time, we'll see absolute latency-free environments online as technology progresses. But for now, I think Live Anywhere will be better off if the minimum requirements for Live don't need a broadband connection.

Of course, this doesn't primarily concern myself. But it might not bode well for Microsoft.

Well, there is a way to get on Xbox Live with dial up. It's pretty easy, you hook an xbox up through a pc. You'll encounter a lot of lag probably, if it even allows you to play games.

I forgot to mention that. If broadband is required for Live Anywhere, people will learn how to bypass the requirement anyhow. :)

  • 03.23.2007 4:50 PM PDT

What it is.

I wouldnt think that it is required to have a broadband connection, but rather recommended. Although, i wouldnt see it as a bad thing, just because that'd elmiate laggers, but i think it would only be required for Live Anywhere. But as mentioned, i am sure someone will be able to bypass it.

H2 Vista will probably sit on the store shelves gathering dust. Why would I upgrade to Visit just to play a Gamer?

Thank God for Ubuntu and a MAC.

1. Punctuation is your freind.
2. I guess if he is a moron he must have held the door open for you considering ladies are first.
3. Your a friggin' retard.
4. See 3.
I'll leave the rest to Obi_Wan.

I think you have to sign in on LIVE to play H2V online anyway. Multiplayer H2V is only offered through either the free silver, or paid gold subscriptions to LIVE, so you'll have to sign in with your Gamertag initially before playing, I presume. Hopefully their version of listing DS's is up to par, if not better than GameSpy's and is easy to access (and offered with silver for that matter). Being an important aspect of Halo PC, I hope they make the transition between the GameSpy's listing method and their's as smooth as possible.

Cheers.

Just stick to the dedicated servers, P2P gaming will alsways suck until everyone has uploads that are in the megabits range, not the kilobit range. Symmetrical 100mb connections would be nice.
