Between you and PaulRTC it would appear that we have a resident psychologist who never leaves home without his "word of the day" dictionary and an over used thesaurus, and with you we have another person claiming they were amazing at Halo 1 and were a legit 40. I'd put money on 3 kids with duel wields running right at your grill against you with just a BR any day. You'd lose every time. I'm well aware of BxB buddy, everyone that plays is - and it's not the same as H1's double smack. My reference to the H1 double smack was an effort to point out how important some of the "glitches" were in H1.
"i mean me and my friends have all agreed that we are better than a lot of people at Halo 2 because of the fact that we played Halo CE and were good at it"
Wow - feeling a little prideful are we? I don't recall ever claiming to be a pro, but you seem to think you are one. I find it funny that someone can't be a fan of the game, and read the weekly updates just as much as anyone else, and post something constructive about what was said. Everyone is all in a panic because I said something negative about the update. Give me a break - the point of this thread is to comment on the update, and that's just what I’ve done. I think the update was weak - I would have rather seen a page full of Mr. Chief pictures than read the drivel about dust and water and seagulls. Nor did I ever say I speak for everyone. Do i have to pre-empt everything i write by saying this is my opinion? Thought that was pretty much a given. The reason you don't think there's anything wrong with H2 is because you're one of the duel wield loving bad kids I was referring to in my initial post. I'm not here to convert you - I'm just here to post my opinion. And I love how a moderator removed one of my posts because I called someone a noob twice. I've seen it in countless posts on this forum, never seen anyone have to remove it. Sad bungie, sad. I never said that Bungie didn't make a great game - I just said they killed what was good so they could appeal to the masses. They could have made a Halo Tournament game, kept the great graphics, and some of the old unintended game play and it would have sold millions too. And I would play H1 over H2 every day if there were enough people on XBC and such to do so, or if there was an actual Halo Tournament game based off of the best of both H1 and H2. That's right - I'm admitting that there are some things about H2 that are amazing because I'm realistic.
To address PaulRTC: "You assume that Bungie actively decided to make halo 2 different to halo 1 in order to appeal to the mass market and achieve better sales, it was more likely an organic process." I don't assume kid - it's true - they made H2 to appeal to the masses, and as i pointed out - good for them from a business perspective, but not from a game play perspective. Bungie should be bringing in pro's (I’ll point out here that I am NOT a pro - nor have I ever claimed to be. That should eliminate about 50 posts from people saying that I'm claiming to be the best) to test the game play, not people who think duel wielding is the greatest thing ever. It's the pro's who figure out the strategies, the weaknesses in a map, in a weapon etc... - Why aren't you pulling in Final Boss, Carbon, Shook One Gaming, or other pro's who would actually be able to give you the real good and bad about a game - instead of people who pick up needler's and run around the map oooohhing and ahhhing about how cool the grass looks in the wind. I love the graphics guys, but you need to take into account that the game is used for professional use too - and that arena is growing and growing on a huge scale. Why wouldn't you have them testing it?
"What your actual gripe is is that the masses like something in the Halo 2 game play that you don't like, and subsequently your needs weren't met with the game, as you're part of a minority." Last time I checked - I was the one forming my own opinioins and saying what my actual gripe is - not you. The masses that like Halo 2 are made up of kids who generally love most things that I feel make the game weak - and pretty much get online so they can put on this "tough guy" persona and cuss out every person they come across. I've said it before - the game is made to appeal to the masses, and congrats for doing so - it's an amazing game in that light - and I've never said I hated the game - I love the game, I'm just sad that it's not as fun to play as H1. I fully realize that I am a minority when it comes to my opinion; sad part is that the minority you're referring to is made up of many of the pro and semi-pro players around the world. As for your graphics comments, I believe i stated that i enjoy the graphics - but they are not more important than the game play. I'm not going to make a huge post about how wonderful Bungie is - I'm here to post my opinion on their update, And I've done that. Thanks for the counseling session though - who do I make the check out to?
