Is the Halo Combat Evolved PC game for Windows designed to be played with a mouse or can I use a game pad controller like the xbox 360 controller and if so is it even compatible with the game? I also would like to know also if when Halo 2 comes out for Windows Vista will it also work with either the xbox 360 controller for windows?

You could play it with a controller if you wanted, but I think it's really designed for keyboard/mouse. Using a controller would take away the whole point (well, most) of playing it on the PC.

Stick to a mouse. You'll only get your butt kicked if you use a controller versus mouse players anyway. Well, perhaps not on Halo 2 Vista, but that remains to be seen. I'd hope so though. PC gaming isn't about controllers. It's about you, your mouse and your keyboard.

you should use a mouse beacause if you are under attack you can turn faster with a mouse than with a controller

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I sometimes use a Logitech Rumblepad when I'm racing on Halo PC, but since it lacks the Xbox version's aim assistance, it's incredibly hard to aim. Like the others said, you can play with any kind of gamepad, but you're better off learning to use the mouse+keyboard.

There's some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that Halo PC is compatible with the Xbox 360 game pad and Halo 2 Vista will too.

The bad news is that if you're dumb enough to choose the controller over the mouse and keyboard when given a choice, you're going to get owned.

Actually, this really isn't news. It's something that everybody figured out quite a while ago. Cheers, mate.

Another reason to use a mouse.

Hell, using a laptop's touchpad is better than using a controller. It's what I used to play America's Army with.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Yes, the 360 controller is compatible with Halo PC and Halo 2 Vista. The 360 headset should be compatible with H2V also.

Just because you use a controller with Halo doesn't mean you will get owned. I speak from experience on that one.

Why, of course not. You're just worse off using it, though.

Hahahahaha. How long have you even played Halo PC to begin with? The mouse and keyboard is much more precise, and offers response time and accuracy controllers don't. Unless you're a god at Halo, I doubt that you could win.
