So my mouse is dead. For some reason my new computer uses the USB mouse ports, so now I can't use the other seven good mouses lying in my basement. So what is a good mouse, that is very sensetive, with a scroll wheel (of course), and that would be under $30. I looked on sites like Circuit City and there's just so many I don't know what one to choose. Mine sticks and I have to shake it violently to get it moving again, thus throwing off my aim, and making my Halo:PC experience suck.

I use a microsoft optical mouse that has a PS/2 adapter for it, so it can be USB or PS/2 (which is the green one or should be on the back of your computer)

its' the green one in this photo

Matt's right, you can use an adapter if you can find one, they're not expensive. Other than that, I can't really offer any advice since I only use a microsoft laser mouse and it works well for me.

I use 2, a Razer Diamondback 2000 DPI gaming mouse, and a mikomi ball mouse.

I recommend the ball mouse

They still make ball mice? I haven't seen one of those since 1999.

I've found really any cheap optical mouse will do wonders for those who have been playing with with a ball mouse.

I recently bought a laser mouse: faaar too sensitive to be played with on high sensitivity, but it give reaally smooth motion. Really, get anything without a ball and use a PS/2 adaptor, and you're set.

The Logitech MX518 is very nice.
I use a wireless optical mouse from Labtec, its nice 1200-dpi and I got it for $20, but it only has the regular amount of buttons.

Go to Bestbuy, or Circuit City. Feel the different mice, see which one you like the best. It all comes down to a matter of opinion.

mx518 has served me really well, constantly use it at 1600 dpi and it is still precise.

So something as simple as a Microsoft optical mouse would suffice?

Yeah it will do well enough, personally I use a Logitech G5. The only good special feature is the sensitivity toggle and the back button on the side, however I don't notice much difference with the weight cartridge no matter how heavy or light I make it.

I am (have been) led to belive that the G5 laser mouse is very good

That is what i would suggest

There is on button and one virtual button, it sucks balls either way.

Ignore him.

Get the mx518, all the razors feel like crap(unless you are left handed then it's pretty much your only choice).

The g5 lacks two side buttons which makes it crap unless you get the second edition and at that point it pretty much ends up being you have to test both mice because some say the optical tracks better than the laser and some would argue the other way, so test them out.

those mice are garbage anyway, it has a ring around the whole base, creating more friction making it harder to move

you want a mouse with 4 feet at each corner

I use the Logitech G7 (which is the wireless version of the G5), and I think it's great, as long as you keep it close enough to the wireless receiver that it doesn't lag.

Yeah, I'm going to stick to what I said. The G7 is basically the wireless version of the G5, without the weights.
