2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Seriously. Particularly in the Flood, if someone makes a topic about something that is generally looked down upon in public, they immediately get flamed. Runescape, Wrestling, rap music, Sony, etc. I don't know where people get off thinking that they, themselves represent the entire forum, but they don't. I'm getting sick of not being able to talk about the things that I like around here because there are jackasses who can't accept that there are people with different interests then them. Some people have the nerve to label certain things as "g@y" when they're on a Halo forum which can just as easily be labeled as "nerdy" or "geeky" (which isn't necessarily true). This thread is a shining example of what I'm talking about. I think that people who feel the need to flame other people because of their personal interests should be blacklisted.

YEAH, PWN THAT FEETUS!

I think that Flamers in general should get Blacklisted, only after multiple offences. I remember reading that there is some warning system that the mods can use. If that's right, the repeat flamers should be blacklisted.

Sad to say that there is no patch for human stupidity, Zero. You're just going to have to ignore the jerks in the forums until moderators can deal with them. I recommend just PM'ing a moderator if you feel that it warrants such a degree of notice. I stopped really paying attention to the Flood because of the amount of "spam" and general idiots that post there. The Flood used to be fun, of course it has always had it's moments dealing with idiots, however I just feel like I'm through with The Flood for a long while. Hopefully you'll find peace with this issue soon.

Well, with so many members flaming, I seriously doubt it can be totally wiped out. However, I do agree that the attitude is disgusting. I don't mean to offend anyone/anything, but is it just me, or is the tact of bungie.net members slowly decreasing as the years go by? This is the reason I rarely post in the flood. I get flamed half the time. Good ole' Septagon works for me... :)

I actually did PM evilcam about a comment in the thread I mentioned in my original post. I'm not sure if he did anything about it..

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Well if people dissagree without attacking you personally, then its ok.

But if they are calling you all sorts of bad things then PM a mod and ask them to take a look at thread where the flames are going down.

And part of me wants to defend the flood. Its the flood for a reason. People can get away with alot there that they cant anywhere else.

it has everything to do with the topic. people act like they do because the internet gives them a chance to be completely anonymous. some(most) people(immature kids) see it as a chance to be a complete ass, because they know no one can do anything about it in "real life" and they think its fun.

I understand that. Still, it doesn't mean they should get away with it. We have mods for a reason.

Good ole' Septagon works for me... :)

Well I found myself attracted to the Septagon because it usually involved discussions. I love the Bungie.net Community and Forum for it (otherwise known as "The Septagon"). However I find that there are not enough discussions in The Flood that seem potentially beneficial to any cause what-so-ever. I don't know why I thought I could find good, interesting, mature discussions there in the first place. The Septagon gives me a place to discuss and learn from other members, through their wisdom and mistakes.

With this new "appreciation" system I think Achronos is calling it, there might be some kind of merit to persuade those who break rules to stop. Hopefully that will sooth some of the flamers. However as this is the Internet, and the only way to judge others is by what they type, I doubt that it will officially end. Jerks will always be afoot and that is why we have the moderators.

Appreciation system? How come I haven't heard about this? Please explain.

I don't really remember much about it. The entire thing could be a conjured idea from my mind seeing as I am really tired...but apparently it is supposed to be something. I don't know whether by "appreciation" it is a Karma system (which seems more logical) rather than anything else that could be installed.

Personally, I believe most flamers don't give a damn about some apprciation system and merits. They flame because they think it is fun to relentlessly bash someone else's opinion. I believe that the apprciation system may relieve about 5% of the flamers, but the rest..... well, as stated, that's what moderators are for.

the mods are meant to clean up and keep things civil. not take away a person's right to use the internet however he/she pleases.

No.. they are meant to enforce the rules. IIRC, one of the rules involves no flaming. Also I remember Achronos saying something along the lines of "You have no rights, play nice."

The moderators can and do take away peoples "right" to visit the Bungie.net Forums. If you've read the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct, you'd understand that you have no rights here. This is, afterall, the Internet as you've suggested.

Guys, don't take it as there is an "appreciation/karma/etc." system out...I'm just thinking out of the faint, tattered bits of memory I have working right now. Sleep deprevation can lead one to believe in crazy things.

The mods are meant to enforce b.net rules. And as Zero/Archonos said. You have no rights here. Letting the person use the internet as he/she pleases would be saying "You can do whatever you wish." That is the exact opposite of the Code of Conduct here at b.net.

Just as in America there is the Constitution which regulates the reality of Americans and how they can interact with it, the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct are Bungie's Constitution for dominating how users can/can't interact with Bungie.net.

The flaming varies by the forum. H3 and the Flood tend to have more flaming. The Septagon has the least. On the other hand, the majority of people who aren't flamers have to deal with the minority who are.

i wasn't speaking in terms of blatant rule breaking flamage(?). just the irritating little flame someone will do just to annoy someone.

Every forum I have been to has this problem. It isn't unique to Bungie.

You are not alone Code Zero, that is why many of us usually just wander among the Septagon (Bungie Community Forum) and the Underground. Conversations are mature enough to hold a discussion, and have really good debates without someone calling the other a "poo head". And I completely agree with you, the attitude of the bungie.net community has become completely immature.
