I'm a little tired of the "<this> is wrong with our community!" threads. They're probably the worst thing I can find on this entire website.

Head on over to the Halo 3 forum Zag, there's some real scary stuff going on. Did you know there are 112 blades of grass in the Halo 3 trailer? Yep, learned that last week.

I'm usually the last person to complain about what Code is talking about, but I will admit there are some people in the Flood who could use some new material. AIDS jokes and seeing "EPIC PHAILURE" on half the threads get's old after a while.

Hey, for the record, I'm enjoying the Halo 3 forum right now.

The people posting things about AIDS etc. do not represent Bungie.net as a whole. No one here does. I realize he said "Some people" in the subject line, but it seems like he's complaining about almost everyone.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

This is a common misconception - you are NOT anonymous on the Internet. You just appear to be so. It is usually pretty easy to track down most people who aren't actually trying to be anonymous.

And at any rate, here, we have the Play Nice rule and with our new warning system here and a few other upcoming additions, I think we can beat it into the skulls of these kinds of people that actions have consequences here.

it has everything to do with the topic. people act like they do because the internet gives them a chance to be completely anonymous. some(most) people(immature kids) see it as a chance to be a complete ass, because they know no one can do anything about it in "real life" and they think its fun.

No, seriously? Does this mean I have to start wearing pants, though?

It is human nature to critisize other people. It is human nature to be generally mean to topics they do not like or they frown upon. If you can somehow find a way to stop human nature, I would like to know because I'd have some intresting ideas.

***Plus, if I would of posted that with a bunch of misspellings and/or with caps lock on, then a bunch of you would of flamed me. It doesn't have to do with a particular forum but The Flood and The Halo 3 forum attract a lot of these people.

It's hard to take someone seriously when their grammar is so poor. I understand that not everyone who comes to Bungie speaks and spells english as their first language. But the majority of language butchers are english speaking, and takes maybe an extra 20 seconds to read back over what you wrote to make sure people can actually comprehend what you said.

I am old, so I know my opinion on this is antiquated, and that most kids today just don't care about how their grammar comes across on a video game forum. But if you're one of those people, don't get mad when people latch onto your poor grammar rather than your point.

Furthermore, the types of errors typically made my non-English speakers are quite different from those of someone who is either too lazy to be bothered with proper spelling, or who misspells words just to be obnoxious and/or 'kewl'.

Augh...don't use the human nature excuse. If human nature was all that determined some of these things, the world would be a dark, scary place. I expect people to be able to rise above some of the things that would be considered "human nature".

Umm.....it has everything to do with this topic. People get away with acting like jerks on the internet because they can. They'll never see you, so why should they try to please you?

Are you kidding me? Look around you, the world is as dark and scary as ever. Sex covers 75% of the media, the United States, Russia, North Korea, and Iran have nuclear missles/developing them. The Iranians goal with their nukes are to wipe Israel of the face of the earth. Don't believe me? Check it out..

Crime is also a big benefactor. There is something called a newspaper and if you read it you learn stuff, pay attention to the murders, rapes, and robbings. Not to mention Terrorism, but I won't go into that.

If you can find me a reason why the world isn't a dark and scary place, let me know about that too.

The news is hardly a good examle.
They only show what's going wrong. Granted, there is a lot going wrong, but it would be nice if they had atleast one good story a day.

If you want sunshine and butterflies, watch the Disney channel or rent a Richard Simmons workout DVD.
The purpose of the news media is not to make us feel better about humanity.
They're there to report the truth. Granted that the best we can hope for today is a liberal or conservative slant on the truth, but the fact is that human interest stories are not common in the news because they are not news; they're features.
That's what Lifetime is for.

Teabag makes you good.

People deserved to be flamed for posting in such a dumb place. Especially for stuff mentioned by the topic starter like Runescape, Sony, ect. It's really not the place for it ,and the majority is against it. Does it make it wrong to post? No, but it's just a bad idea.

The fact that people will never recognize and be responsible for their stupidity will drive society to always have a force to monitor itself. The Police, FBI, UN, etc., are all excellent examples of rule abiding organizations that enforce rules that people must adhere to. If it wasn't for such agencies there would be complete chaotic domination of the world by those who can assert themselves to that position. Genocides, terrorism, dictators, wars, etc., are examples of what happens without observation of a situation that lacks administration of rules or guidelines. Our very community can compare. Moderators are the enforcing agency employed by Achronos and the web team to deter chaotic interruptions of their draft of a Bungie.net Constitution. If it weren't for them Bungie.net might be a slightly less attractive and fun place to interact and discuss topics with fans of the Bungie and their mystic appearance. The scale of violations wouldn't rise to that of a Genocide, rather I think it would be a cultural homocide...one of the Bungie.net Community. That is why we need the Moderators, sadly to say, to moderate us in accordance to the ToU and CoC. Hopefully some of the "corrupted" will be enlightened to their ways and follow the path of tru7h.
