OMG you just now realized how bad these forums are???

NO WAI!!!!!!!

No, I'm sure we all have known how bad they are, but he just made a thread about it.

i knew it from the day I became a member of Bungie.net. I stayed away from Public Forums until the groups went down. Now I try and just ignore people...Works most the time

Edit: I just remembered. I posted a thread in the flood before(About the april fools thing Gonintendo did) and quite a few of the Flood persons called it either retarted(exact spelling they had), stupid, or called them -blam- losers. Posted it here and there was nothing close to that! That's why I don't go there.

Seriously. Particularly in the Flood, if someone makes a topic about something that is generally looked down upon in public, they immediately get flamed. Runescape, Wrestling, rap music, Sony, etc. I don't know where people get off thinking that they, themselves represent the entire forum, but they don't. I'm getting sick of not being able to talk about the things that I like around here because there are jackasses who can't accept that there are people with different interests then them. Some people have the nerve to label certain things as "g@y" when they're on a Halo forum which can just as easily be labeled as "nerdy" or "geeky" (which isn't necessarily true). This thread is a shining example of what I'm talking about. I think that people who feel the need to flame other people because of their personal interests should be blacklisted.

This is the milionth thread we have had like this. There is nothing anyone can do about it.

This is also not a problem limited to Bungie. Every forum has problems with trolls, flamers and spammers.

Well.... people always act "familiar" on the internet: IE: They act like they do around their friends. A perfect example, The 400 pound lady who got insulted on the internet. The news were nice to her, and other people who were near her were nice to her. But if you walk around school you could hear conversations like this:
"you hear about that ugly fat -blam!-"
"yeah she was so fat she didn't know she was pregnant"
"ahahhahahaha"

The thing is, in all likelihood you don't hang out with people like this. So you aren't used to conversations like this. Unfortunately, they happen. Just because the people you hang out with don't talk like this, doesn't mean that people who hang out at the back of school don't.

People probably make comments like this all of the time. People who like wrestling, tend to congregate in normal society. So they never hear comments like this. People who aren't used to comments like this tend to congregate in society. So they never hear comments like this. Which is probably why people where shocked when they read things like this on the internet

The internet is very different. All kinds of people are there. So you may see views, and people who aren't what you are accustomed too. This is how people act. Live with it. The Government isn't going to do anything unless its -blam!- harassment, or something like that.

If you don't want to deal with people's opinions, go join a group. There you can discuss what you like. The government won't do anything, there is a law upholding free speech. Bungie will stop all discussions that are "controversial", that is their way of stopping flaming. however they can not stop "disagreements", as then there would be no discussion. You can not have discussion, without disagreement, especially in an area where people from all walks of life come together.

You say that people should be black listed for "disagreeing"? Sorry, but that isn't going to happen. Live with it. Yes some comments are "bad", but there aren't enough moderators, to get every single comment. People disagree based on their personal interests. Go read a psychology book. People view what they do as "right" and what others do as "wrong". This has shown itself prevalent throughout society, so read a psychology book. This is why there is so much conflict in the world (i can't explain it all, because a lot of it has to do with controversial topics such as wars, etc)

5 others?

I found you six.

And one of them is by you.
There are plenty more, I just got bored of looking for you.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a dead horse topic and anyone who posts about it (after Jim's thread and some of the other very large ones) is looking for attention, trying to cause problems, trying to be a hero, and is actually causing more of a disturbance in the community than what they're complaining about.

I found you six.No you didn't. Those are all ELITISM threads. This has nothing to do with elitism, as every one of us are on the same level of membership. This thread is SPECIFICALLY about people disrespecting other people because of their interests. It's not the same at all.

And I'm not trying to cause problems, I'm not trying to be a hero. I feel strongly about this when I get insulting names thrown at me, people like me, and what interests me. You have no right to tell me what I'm trying to do.

A few of them are elitism threads. They're all about the community become 'crappy'.

That's your point, isn't it? Our community is going downhill, become a spam-fest, and everyone is disrespectful? That's what the point always is, even if you call it something different.

No, that's not my point. I'm trying to FIX it, not COMPLAIN about it.

Fix what? To my knowledge, nothing is broken. I'm not having a problem with idiots. I just ignore them. If some guy is being vulgar, rude, or has a 'disgusting attitude', I just ignore and avoid. It's quite simple. You seem to be trying to fix an awful lot of 'broken' things with all of these threads you keep making.

Yeah.. so just because YOU don't have a problem, other people aren't? Wanna know something? I just got a PM from a guy who says he has the exact same problem, so know what you're talking about before you go throwing things out. It's hard to ignore them when 40% of the posts in the topic I linked to in my first post is filled with flames. I can try to fix it if I want to try and fix it. Mods can go ahead and stop me if they feel I am wrong, but you can't.

The thread you linked to in your first post showed me no flames for the first 5 pages or so. They're talking about wrestling. Lots of people chuckle when that subject comes up. Ask Achilles, he could vouch for that. I could say something like "No, I don't like watching two half-naked oiled up old men groping eachother in a ring."

Looks to me that's about what someone said. You call that flaming? He was making a funny joke, along with giving his opinion on wrestling. You snapped back at him with a "Do me." If anything, you're the one who flew off the handle at a little joke, which I found somewhat entertaining.

Maybe It's because I'm not a fan of wrestling? Maybe it's because you took it too seriously. Perhaps Mattbluhalofan is correct, in some ways. You're one of the people who take the discussions too seriously. I read through that entire thread, I even posted in it when it was made, and I see no problems until you snapped at someone for looking at wrestling with a semi-humorous viewpoint. I understand that some discussions need to be serious, but one about pro wrestling? If some guy throws in a somewhat silly comment, so what? You may have been taking that thread a bit too seriously.

I don't see the problem lying in 'the community', the other members, or even in the guy you snapped at, but I'm beginning to see that a large portion of the problem lies with you. Perhaps you should look at who really started the flaming in that thread.

So basically this thread has degenerated into personal attacks on each other? Great, not only is this a cloned, reproduced, dead-horse subject, it is also getting personal. I will lock it now, thank me later.
