Heyyo,

Here we go! mac VS vista arguments!!! alright!... actually, i'm sure it'll get locked for flaming or something once a forum ninja sees it...

Anywho, there's only one problem for a Mac version of H2V... that's Live For Windows... it's only windows... BUT... the latest mac's can dual boot with bootcamp software, so what's really the point in making a mac version when you can use bootcamp to boot into WinV with your mac and game on there???

Just a question back at the OP is all...

Btw guys, kinda lame you're flaming over os'es... lol, each one's a bit different.. all that matters in the end is if the user is contempt with using that OS, cause not everyone has the same tastes..... so take it easy eh? next we'll see some good ol' Ford Vs Chevy arguments on the forums... hahaha.......

Just get a dual boot mac. Problem solved.

What it is.

Microsoft isn't going to release a game for a competitor. Why would MGS(the people making the game) even put the effort to work on a game for another company that's been their rival for years..seriously, think about it. Maybe if it was being made by Gearbox(pffft, lol) then maybe you'd get your wish, but too bad so sad; Maybe you should've thought about real gaming before you got a Mac.

Microsoft has made a lot of applications for mac os. Microsoft office, internet explorer, windows media player, list goes on.

What it is.

Are those games? Things that make big money off of? Not really(not as much as gaming does anyway). I stand by my word.

Halo 2 is a great game and deserves a great OS. Windows Vista just can't compare to OSX. You guys kow what I'm talking about. Vista is falling apart so alo 2 should be moved to Mac. Maybe they could rename the game "Halo 2 OSX". That would be cool. Don't you agree?

-Mac Guy :-)

[/smug]

I'm sure you know. Actually, I think it would be fine. Nobody would care of you moved Alo 2 to Mac, but you shouldn't change the name; it would cause a lot of conflicts.

Your logic is flawed. Vista is not "falling apart". Microsoft wouldn't release an operating system that they knew would destabilize right after its release. And until the release of Leopard, OS X is inferior. Dry up. After its release, OS X will, on a technological level, average about the same. Now the prominent gap in your logic. I'll bold it so it might penetrate your skull.

Halo 2 is partly owned and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Do you really think that Microsoft would simply re-port one of their most successful games to work on their main enemy's operating system a month before they finished porting it for theirs? My guess is that you simply can't comprehend the concept of Capitalism.

Oh, and by the way, I don't mean to sound like I jackass. I can't help it, its a gift.

if halo 2 comes out on mac all it will show is failure.. Halo will have added smut to its brand, and many PC fans will see a glorious game fall in the the clutches of a -blam!- peice of equipment with aged hardware. To all you mac owners out there who bought a mac because they think the ipod is cool, or think the mac looks cool and is simple to use. Yes, you are right. Macs are simple. but u cant do anything besides play 3d chess on them and fantasize about widgets.

Dual booting a mac will not solve the problem. Boot Camp does not yet support Vista, and given how hard it's been for most companies to write drivers for Vista, it probably won't for a very long time.

P.S. The kid who said Microsoft doesn't make a lot of Money off of Office is an idiot. At my work, we have over 1000 licenses for Office, and that's just one medium sized building. I just had to get that out there because that was the dumbest thing I have ever read.

Acctually, with only a few minor code adjustments, I have heard of people getting Boot Camp to work with Vista.

Macs are ok for some stuff....but they have almost zero place for the gaming, A) they don;t support the powerful hard ware, b) no DX10 and will never have Dx10 and Dx10 pwns and its the whole reason halo2 is VISTA ONLY because only vista has Dx10.

Ok i know vista sucks right now but since when has Microsoft made something that worked right on launch? they have wider range of computer hard ware and soft ware to cover mac has less problems because they have like 10 friggen processors that work on it half which mac makes them self and the other half is intel crap

I see things in both but now adays i just don't like Mac as a company I know what im doing with computers but with a windows PC I can build a computer that can do everything and anything i ever want it to for cheap (for what its doing) and with mac i can't even find a computer that satisfies me hardware wise so i do not buy it (i usually just built but i can;t for a laptop so yeah) and very few windows pc laptops satisfy me hardware wise but they few i have found were all windows i need the hardware power

Also it makes me mad cus MAC insists on being called a Mac rather than PC considering PC stands for personal computer a mac doesn't do anything a windows pc can't there for its still a freaking PC

Hurling thinly disguised insults toward the very people you're trying to win over to your point of view is no way to gain any supporters.

Addressed to PC gamers:
You and I, as fellow gamers, are one (setting aside the OS and hardware differences). What, therefore, do you have to lose or gain if I (a Mac gamer) share in your fun (in the form of Halo 2)? You stand nothing to lose, that's for sure. You stand to gain a number (small, it must be said) of new people to play with.

However, the question is not what you or I stand to lose or gain. It's what Microsoft stands to lose. Microsoft, if it ported Halo 2 to Macs, stands to lose prospective customers, not only for H2V, but for Vista.

Vista.

We all know Microsoft is predominantly a software company, and most of the world's computers happen to utilize their OS and software. My thesis here is that if Halo 2 Mac cut into profits of Vista, however a small cut it may be, Microsoft will have none of it.

You're right, Halo 2 should be available for the Mac users too, but you're supporting it for all the wrong reasons.

As a Mac gamer, I too think Halo 2 should be ported to the Mac, at least for old times' sake (Bungie's Marathon- the definitive Mac shooter). But we all know who Bungie is owned by.

Will Halo 2 Mac happen, however? No. It's wishful thinking on my part, and on the part of many Mac gamers.

It's wishful thinking that I've given up long ago.

When you come right down to it, it's just a game. Just a game. Sure, it's Halo 2, but it's a game.

Furthermore, Bungie owed Mac and PC gamers Halo. Halo was originally (in one of its many conceptions) intended to be a first person shooter for the Mac/PC platforms, as Marathon had been before it. Microsoft, however, liked what Bungie showed at the MacWorld Expo ('98, I believe) and bought up Bungie, turning Halo into the seller of the Xbox that we know and love today. Bungie felt some obligation towards its Mac/PC fans, who felt left in the lurch by the sudden buyout. Bungie brought us a port, not without its flaws, but well worth the wait. And now Bungie brings PC gamers another (hopefully successful) port.

What is different this time around, however, is that Microsoft is selling an OS. When Halo Mac/PC was released, XP was king, and it was going to stay that way. Now, however, Microsoft has wares, in the form of Vista, to sell, and H2V will help those sales.

Guys, I... I understand now. It doesn't matter that PCs are better than Macs. This isn't about who has the better computer. This is about Halo 2. This is about how many Halo 2 Vista players' asses I'm going to kick. And if it means Halo 2 OSX as well, then so be it. Maybe it will never happen. But wouldn't we all be happy if it did? Wouldn't that mean there would be more n0obz to pwn? Wouldn't it make the world a better place?

No, not really. Mac players will be too busy telling me how happy they are to be "part of the Mac community", how my PC sucks, etc. to actually play the game.

Halo 2 is a great game and deserves a great OS.

Such as Windows XP

Windows Vista just can't compare to OSX.

But it's been proven better in so many ways. Such as easier to use interface, less suseptable to attack and so on and so forth.

You guys kow what I'm talking about. Vista is falling apart so Halo 2 should be moved to Mac. Maybe they could rename the game "Halo 2 OSX". That would be cool. Don't you agree?

Vista has actually been coming along quite well. With regular updates, the not so good final release is becoming a good sound operating system. And making Halo 2 available on OS X 10 would be like making it available on PS3. Stupid.

I'm a PC user but I think Halo 2 should be available to Mac users too, especially given the fact Halo originated on the Mac. Microsoft would be petty to not allow it.

Even if mac users DO live in their own little world.. ;-]

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

When Apple releases a computer capable of running next gen games before their released, then I will get a Mac. The iMac 24" comes with a GeForce 7600 GT 256MB, hardly going to last me for the next 5 years like my GeForce 4 Ti 4200 did back in 2001 seeing as the 8 series cards are a hop-skip-and-a-jump ahead of the 7 series, let's see what nVidia has by September. I doubt the iMac will have an 8 series anytime soon.

As it stands, when I buy a PC, it's good for 5 years, more if I got lucky and bought it during a lul in new tech development, people who got PCI-E boards early are reaping the rewards, but I'm waiting for multicore procs to become standard, got more important things to spend mony on right now than a brand new comp system when it's obvious new tech is comming out at a rapid pace this year.
