On may 8th we shall witness the second coming of the master chief to pc and it will provide us with what we have all been waiting for. Almost 3 years after "REAL COMPETITION" ended Finally on May 8th I will commit the Ultimate Act of blastphemy and BREAK my halo PC disk. Thats right break it and sweep it into the trash. Ide love to thank bungie for consuming 6 years of my life with this title. You have in effect have helped me earn several thousand dollars playing this game over the years and caused me to struggle in my school studies. To me a fun game means that you have a midterm test at 8 am and you are still playing halo until 7 oclock. What i will miss the most is the "REPLAY" factor that H1 xbox and h1pc had, this is you could play a level over and over again until your had to stop due to your eyes bleeding. Gone are the days of Cal_assault and the many memories it brang. Gone are the days of noobs playing RACE on infinity with all shotguns. that I will not miss. And for all you people who debate on what makes a game dead. Well my argument is the lack of money and tournaments, Well I assure you after May 8th Bungie will no longer support this god Forsaken game, A game that was Perfect and game that needed no tweeking, A game one could argue could have put counter strike out of its misery. Yet Bungie Made one mistake and letting GEARBOX otherwise known in the halo community as "GEARBOTCH" port this game. Still with the warping and the netcoding, die hard halo pc fans stuck to their mouse and keyboards for so many years.... So with this we look forward to the future., This future has a date, and many of us have a date with destiny, Its a little something called h2v, I dream of master chiefs doing b attle, night in and night out and again, Hopes of struggle in school studies ensue. No more standbye tricks, being paired up with dumb and dumber, Real halo pc action, halo 2 style.
So say goodbye to halopc My friends and embrace h2v it is the future of halo, Do not live in the past, embrace the future, understand it, play it, make the game its best. Leave your aimbots behind, Join the competitive community, Leave your peskee banshee on death island, Leave your Race gametypes on infinity alone, step forward and be a man, It takes a real man not to play inifinity all shotguns.. Drop your plasma pistol for a sword and join me in celebrating the Death of Halo pc. Never again will I hear the name gearbox of have to speek it. Never again will people be able to use Print screen to help them cap. Gone are the days of old as we usher in the new.. WIll you join me? in this celebration.. I sure hope so... See you in 6 weeks. Break your disk with me.... Will you?? for the sake of h2v?The only way I can respond to this is through numbered replies:
1. Halo isn't that great. It's awesometastic, but it is not as amazing as you say it is. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion, but it wasn't groundbreaking, too original, innovative... Pretty good, but not good enough to knock Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, etc. off their feet. I do agree, though, Halo is indeed one of those games that will make you play it until 6:00 in the morning before school starts.
2. Halo PC may die, but it's not like there will be less than three people playing in the servers at any time. Perhaps we couldn't give two craps about competitive gaming. Even if Halo 2 is amazing and we love it, it doesn't mean Halo will necessarily die or we'll stop playing. Lack of funding or events doesn't define the life-span of a game. Also, I just thought you should know, Bungie won't stop supporting Halo PC on May Eighth, considering they already stopped doing that a very long time ago.
3. I will surely embrace Halo 2 Vista, as it is indeed the future. That does not mean I won't play Combat Evolved from time to time. We must look forward to the future, but that does not mean we should forget the past. We should not celebrate the death of Halo PC, but rather, the emergence of the new one.
4. One last thing--you claim people to play noob gametypes--"Race gametypes on infinity"--but what makes you think Halo 2 will be necessarily better? Have you ever played the Xbox version extensively? Drop our plasma pistol for the sword? (Both of which are horribly unbalanced weapons in Halo 2, I'll have you know.) Not just that, what makes you think Halo 2 will become a great game for competitive/skill-based gaming? I mean, MLG picked it up, but that doesn't mean the game is perfect. Gah, I just can't express it in words at the moment. You shall see for yourself May Eighth.
In short, I will not break my disk with you. (I spent twenty dollars on that damned thing, after all. :P)
