Subject: Finally The Death Of HaloPC

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

I stopped taking you seriously when you blamed Gearbox for the problems.

Hmm gl with that, H2v will have support and Online and lan tournaments with thousands of dollars at stake, Play for free play for money, hmm which one is better, unless your at home and arent allowed to go out of your house...

Or people might not have the time to invest into traveling for lan tournaments and such. This may be shocking to you, but some people have Jobs and lives to make money and take care of.

Halo 2 Vista will be a great game, but calling HaloPC dead because it doesn't support "money tournaments" is lame.

But not everybody lives in the US anyway. There's a world outside!

Personally, I'd classify the flamethrower as a medium weapon, but it's a heavy for the sake of HPC and tradition. ;)

Have you noticed that You and Nessy are the only ones who seem to care about competitive gaming? Please break your disc now, as I'm sure no one will miss you.

I'm sorry node, Ph34r. I really should have just backed off. I had a stressful day. Still gives me no excuse to tell you off like that. I was mistaken. Forgive me.

To me skill is no good unless you can do something with it, You can have skill all you want but if you sit in your room with all your big bad skill were does it get you ? Playing in pro competitions is great, there is no better feeling, Is all im saying, A game can have all the pub servers it wants, but when it comes to it if it has no support from the Developers, and has no real tournaments then it has become lame. Im a true halo fan, but jesus you kids are stuck on stupid when it comes to common sense... Anyways like dutch said check back may 8th www.caleague.com show us your skill!!!!

On may 8th we shall witness the second coming of the master chief to pc and it will provide us with what we have all been waiting for. Almost 3 years after "REAL COMPETITION" ended Finally on May 8th I will commit the Ultimate Act of blastphemy and BREAK my halo PC disk. Thats right break it and sweep it into the trash. Ide love to thank bungie for consuming 6 years of my life with this title. You have in effect have helped me earn several thousand dollars playing this game over the years and caused me to struggle in my school studies. To me a fun game means that you have a midterm test at 8 am and you are still playing halo until 7 oclock. What i will miss the most is the "REPLAY" factor that H1 xbox and h1pc had, this is you could play a level over and over again until your had to stop due to your eyes bleeding. Gone are the days of Cal_assault and the many memories it brang. Gone are the days of noobs playing RACE on infinity with all shotguns. that I will not miss. And for all you people who debate on what makes a game dead. Well my argument is the lack of money and tournaments, Well I assure you after May 8th Bungie will no longer support this god Forsaken game, A game that was Perfect and game that needed no tweeking, A game one could argue could have put counter strike out of its misery. Yet Bungie Made one mistake and letting GEARBOX otherwise known in the halo community as "GEARBOTCH" port this game. Still with the warping and the netcoding, die hard halo pc fans stuck to their mouse and keyboards for so many years.... So with this we look forward to the future., This future has a date, and many of us have a date with destiny, Its a little something called h2v, I dream of master chiefs doing b attle, night in and night out and again, Hopes of struggle in school studies ensue. No more standbye tricks, being paired up with dumb and dumber, Real halo pc action, halo 2 style.

So say goodbye to halopc My friends and embrace h2v it is the future of halo, Do not live in the past, embrace the future, understand it, play it, make the game its best. Leave your aimbots behind, Join the competitive community, Leave your peskee banshee on death island, Leave your Race gametypes on infinity alone, step forward and be a man, It takes a real man not to play inifinity all shotguns.. Drop your plasma pistol for a sword and join me in celebrating the Death of Halo pc. Never again will I hear the name gearbox of have to speek it. Never again will people be able to use Print screen to help them cap. Gone are the days of old as we usher in the new.. WIll you join me? in this celebration.. I sure hope so... See you in 6 weeks. Break your disk with me.... Will you?? for the sake of h2v?
The only way I can respond to this is through numbered replies:

1. Halo isn't that great. It's awesometastic, but it is not as amazing as you say it is. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion, but it wasn't groundbreaking, too original, innovative... Pretty good, but not good enough to knock Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, etc. off their feet. I do agree, though, Halo is indeed one of those games that will make you play it until 6:00 in the morning before school starts.

2. Halo PC may die, but it's not like there will be less than three people playing in the servers at any time. Perhaps we couldn't give two craps about competitive gaming. Even if Halo 2 is amazing and we love it, it doesn't mean Halo will necessarily die or we'll stop playing. Lack of funding or events doesn't define the life-span of a game. Also, I just thought you should know, Bungie won't stop supporting Halo PC on May Eighth, considering they already stopped doing that a very long time ago.

3. I will surely embrace Halo 2 Vista, as it is indeed the future. That does not mean I won't play Combat Evolved from time to time. We must look forward to the future, but that does not mean we should forget the past. We should not celebrate the death of Halo PC, but rather, the emergence of the new one.

4. One last thing--you claim people to play noob gametypes--"Race gametypes on infinity"--but what makes you think Halo 2 will be necessarily better? Have you ever played the Xbox version extensively? Drop our plasma pistol for the sword? (Both of which are horribly unbalanced weapons in Halo 2, I'll have you know.) Not just that, what makes you think Halo 2 will become a great game for competitive/skill-based gaming? I mean, MLG picked it up, but that doesn't mean the game is perfect. Gah, I just can't express it in words at the moment. You shall see for yourself May Eighth.

In short, I will not break my disk with you. (I spent twenty dollars on that damned thing, after all. :P)

Finally an eduated response!!!!! MAN were have you been!!! Look everyone should be interested in competitive gaming, its what keeps me going, We are all video game lovers here, but look, video game revenue = that more than NFL and MLB combined. E-sports as it is called is the next "poker" With Direct Tv and The USA network signing tv deals for future tournaments. Look I love halo it is great but combat evolved time has passed. H2V will only fail if the community lets it. The community shows enough support we get our tournaments, I dont care about what some europeans have to say about the topic, not my fault they dont live in the GREATEST country in the world The US and A. It only cost me about 100 bucks for a 4 day tournament, and lanning with over 4 thousand people is great.. Last tournament I didnt compete in i just went to visit friends and played in a side tournament and won 2 hard drives. So in a since MR or Master kim everyone should be interested in competitive gaming, It makes it thrive, Please reconsider, and wont you sir "Please Break your disk with me? "

I disagree. Perhaps people don't enjoy competitive gaming as much as we do? So, what if they like to go around playing shotguns on Infinity? Don't get me wrong, I love competitive gaming like you do, but some people couldn't care. After all, that brings us back to the true meaning of gaming; entertainment, plain good fun. I will look forwarding to sc-blam!- with you, however.

Anyway, I don't think Halo 2 Vista is going to be as big as its debut on the Xbox was--remember that most PC gamers couldn't possibly care less for a port of a three-year-old console title. It won't be huge, but hopefully it will be at least big.

Its only as huge as the gamers make itout to be, Halo 1's Competitive scene will be there, thats atleast 40 some odd organized teams. Winter cpl 03 we had upwards to about 60, If we can get that many signed up and registerd on cal that would be great. Not soon after launch they will be offering a 5 thousand dollar tourney online. So spread the word and help it grow...

I consider the death of halo pc blaspemy

some consider goldeneye 64 dead

how? I bet a bunch of retro junkies dust off their N64 to pop in one of the first most popular shooters. I still do once in a while.

halo pc will not die. I'm still going to play it, I don't need vista until I go to college. For school as of now all I need is Word and Powerpoint, I don't see need in vista yet, and I'm waiting as well.

If you want to break the disc of a popular game, go ahead, your actions just anger those who support bungie and love the game.

Gaming leagues? pfffffffft w/e I don't think some of us around here are into competitive gaming, sure a little trash talk after the gatherings but it's all fun and games. That's what halo 2 vista should be about too, not all competitiveness, but good ass kicking with your friends and a place to share it (here).

I honestly hope there is no MLG gametypes, that kills everything, just quadshotting and everything.

Yes, fewer and fewer will play halo pc as more and more get vista and H2V. However, on May 8th or 9th, it will not just stop breathing and die with a flatline across the board. No, it takes time.

Personally, if halo 2 vista doesn't turn out that great, which it should turn out awesome, I believe it will be successful, I'll stick with halo pc.

flame me all you want, but halo pc will not die on that day, it just won't, there will still be players. You'll be alone as others will wait to get vista.

Hope you enjoy the time with others, don't even bother about coming back.

After all, you are breaking your disc. Go ahead, see if I care, your loss.

I already wrote this once but it didn't submit, so this is shorter.
wow, i mean, Halo PC dead? i don't know what you really consider until a game is laid RIP, or MIA, but none of the Halo games will ever fully die. Why? because for god's sake, it's Halo. It's perhaps one of the most known game franchises today. although Halo PC might not be known as well, it's still Halo. To say that a game who's founding company still exsists, still has multiple forums for it, loads of mods still cranking out, thousands of players online, a network version made for it, and alot of other things is going to die because it's sequal is launching onto the PC is just illogical to me.
story time: I know an old game that is still an old fav of mine. released in 1998, Hardwar was a brilliant game set on Titan, an moon of Saturn. due to bad advertising by Gremlin, the game never took off. Only a handfull of people fully relized the game. Still, there is a forum, and despite the founding company going into Volentary Liquadation it still has tons of support and changes made to it, and there is still few people online in a few servers. that game, to me is still not dead.
heres a patched demo of this game:
Home of teh underdogs- Hardwar

i can understand that you're excited about Halo 2 Vista, and it's potential, but the former of the game will still not die out in a blink.
