Flaming = bad.

Sarcastic response to an idiot =/= flaming.

Thus sarcastic resonse to idiot =/= bad.

I believe that we can agree on this as such is a Bungie tradition.

However, the "use google" comments etc. do need to stop, as do the various personal attacks that seem to pop up a lot.

At least if your going to say "Use Google" post the link that you obviously must have easily found by using Google, get's your point across and deals with the posters question.

There's a difference between a sarcastic response and an insult. I'm often sarcastic but I try not to insult people with it, unless they
a)Insult me
b)Have messed up numerous times. Like triple posting three or four times after people have told you to stop and use the edit button.

The truth about why I flame and be a jerk to people is this: I've woken up, and I've seen the corruption, and evil that goes on in the world on a daily basis. It's soured me on the human race. So why should I be nice to someone who would stab me in the back at the first chance they got? Yes, I'm surly, and I'm jaded, and I just plain don't like people

Wow. It must be absolutely miserable to be you.

AJ's !00% right. It has gotten pretty rediculous in here. I direct your attention to http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=4553909, this is how it needs to be in here.

The MAW was known for its maturity and helpfulness. When someone asked a question that was covered in the stickies, the answer was given and a link to the stickies was included. They weren't jumped on and flamed with smart ass answers like "Google is your friend" or READ THE -blam!- STICKIES!!! Spelling and grammer are important because it makes posts easier to read and understand. Correct spelling and grammer do not automatically equal maturity because the people that flame and correct every little spelling error are not displaying maturity. Yes if the message cannot be understood or its meaning is unclear then go ahead and make a comment and ask them to fix it. It they spelled one word wrong and you can follow what they are saying then get over it.

In just over a month we are going to be flooded with new members. If the majority of the current members set an example of immaturity then there efforts will be multiplied and this place will become like the Halo3 forums.

spartennum117, you have over 50 posts in here today. You need to find another hobby besides posting in here. Turn the computer off and pick up a book or something.

This is behavior that I don't want our forum to be known for. Just because Obi and Kim are jerks, intentionally or unintentionally, doesn't mean that they have the right to belittle or put down others. Why do we have to act so superior over other forums on B.Net? In the end, aren't we all just fans of the Halo universe?

Now, sometimes someone will make a post that doesn't belong here or isn't even relevant to Halo, but that certainly doesn't mean we are required to tear that person a new one.

What is so great about this forum, "our" forum, that we can act so negatively to others? What do we have that they don't? Why are we above all else?

We aren't. And I say we shouldn't act like it. Somehow, somewhere along the way, we started to believe that we are. I don't know when and where, but it needs to be stopped before it gets out of control. I think we're all guilty of this reasoning in some way, shape, or form, and that we all need to better ourselves.

I'll go first.

This is exacly what I was talking about. People don't have the ability to think or act for themselfs. They do what the intelligent people do, or in this case the -blam!-s. The people from New Mombasa are a little on the dull side, but we can't change that if as soon as they post something here we insult them at random. People make mistakes, that doesn't mean we have to rip them apart like heathens gathering to a meal.

If your a teacher, and a kid makes a mistake on their spelling quiz, do you go up and yell at them:

"God damn it Timmy! You don't spell ready like 'rdy'! Your an idiot Timmy! Go home! You fail at life! I never want to see you again!"

The answer is no, why else would they be in school to make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. If you simply scream at them, it's going to do nothing but make them feel bad about them selfs. It's the same thing with people from other forums. I agree they are dim witted, but it doesn't mean that we have to tear them apart. We have to educate them to become a civilized Mawzor. And that means being at least a little bit caring and nurturing.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I had to be worked over by Ninjas before I learned my lesson. Now I usually don't flame here. It's not hard to for me to walk away and come back later to avoid spewing an angry response to someone's post, especially if it means risking expulsion. Plus I remember my first days on IRC and how nice most people were to me when I asked questions. Some weren't. And Obi Wan, sorry you feel that way. Hope you trust me.

ROFL. thank you for creating this thread. bc no matter what you will be flamed. this whole thread is flamers criticizing flamers (mostly). It's a pitty, and thanks for caring. too bad you have to be perfect in order to not be flamed.

relevance (to thread, topic, and everyone): plz stop being angry in halo1 and halo2 for PC, including the forums. But if you must, i suppose this forum is better than yelling at kittens.

Now I'm really new here. So I click on the OSX topic and just about puked.
1. That itself was a Console War topic.
2. The amount of flaming that was done shocked me. I've been flamed but that looked like the Church after a heretic. That was just uncalled for. Everyone except for three people (including myself) were targeting the "Mac-defenders" and flamed them for SUGGESTING or GIVING IDEAS for H2V to be on a Mac.

Where the -BLAM!- are the Moderators! Get in here or I'll start flaming back! THIS IS A CIVIL FORUM FOR A GAME!

What happened is those damned Furbys....They're watching us....Don't look back at them for war is upon us. Ready your swords mortals, a war of the ages is about to begin...

Nah just kidding..or am I 0_o

What happened is that we are forgetting the golden rule...Treat others the way you would like to be treated. If someone else doesn't know something it doesn't mean they are stupid, they are just uneducated.

We should see that as an oppurtunity to educate the public, let them walk away with a sense of belonging and satisfaction. Plus someone asks them where to go for info, would you rather have them say, "Dude go the Bungie.net Maw, They are great guys and will help you with anything, just go dude, they'll help you for sure." OR would we rather have "Don't go to bungie.net Maw, they are a bunch of arrogant -blam!-s who need to learn their place, bunch of -blam!-es, tell everyone not to go there."

See how fast we can win or lose? Guess what guys? What do you think that guy is going to tell the next guy? He is going to tell him what he was told and how his expierence was teh sux, do you honestly expect our numbers to grow?

Words travel fast on witch's wind. Both the good and the bad, but the bad travels a HELL of a lot faster and with greater impact.

Treat others with respect and kindness and it shall be returned in due time.

And kill a furby, evil little bastards have had it to good for too long....

Meh, It's not bad. It's got its high points and its low points. I'm quite content hating nearly everything and everyone on this miserable mudball.

Oh and Demi, stupid and uneducated are one and the same. The latter's just more politically correct.

Well please make the ride enjoyable to others so we can have fun. Hate it if you want just don't bring your "I hate it here, I'm so angry I'll make you suffer" on to people who don't want it.

Here's a thought: get a therapist, tell them what your issue is not us. This is for Halo and people who want to talk about Halo, not for you being emo and making everyone else miserable.

This is totally off-topic, but:

That reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where someone tried to create a ship that was powered by bad news (based on the fact that nothing in the universe travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news). To (badly?) paraphrase the resultant spacecraft drive: "It didn't work particularly well, and even when it did, they were so extremely unwelcome wherever they went, that there was really no point in being there in the first place."

If spartennum is bad enough to get a warning like that from Iggwilv, I'm amazed he hasn't told me to take a hike off a cliff.

Aj is right. To be quite frank, I think this forum started going downhill around the time I joined. As much as I am flattered as to his saying that Reefer and I should patrol the forums, it is more important to be a more caring community and less elitist.

*Opens up the back door of the MAW*
*Grabs Kim by the collar and waist, winds up, and heaves him out the back door, over the cliff that is three feet beyond*
*Cups ear and listens*

I also promise to be polite if somone posts a very lazy question topic that a Google search or B.net search could have found, by advising them of the search features, and providing them with the link they seek.

Actually, if you look at the last page of the Vista vs OSX thread, you'll see that it EVOLVED into a calm, analytical arguement. From 2 pages worth of flames.

I think that just shows how amazing the Maw can be sometimes, most of the time you'd expect a thread's quality to go downhill...

'Course the thread got locked about 2 posts after that, XD

It's ironic that you speak of people using "normal spelling and grammar," and you spelt grammar wrong. Typo? Maybe, but it is still rather commical nonetheless. :-P
I commend your vow of decorousness. To me, saying "Read the forum stickies," with some expletives and phrases such to the extent of "go die," (in different forms) attached get somewhat boring and stodgy after being used several times a day.

Anyway, Cheers.
