I posted this in The Flood and someone recommended that I post here.

I tried to send my cover letter and resume to jobs@bungie.com but it was rejected by one of their filters. I received this message:

Final-Recipient: RFC822; jobs@bungie.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.7.1
Remote-MTA: DNS; mail4.microsoft.com
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 550 5.7.1 <Your e-mail was rejected by an anti-spam content filter on gateway (205.248.106.64). Reasons for rejection may be: obscene language, graphics, or spam-like characteristics. Removing these may let the e-mail through the filter.>
Last-Attempt-Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 18:38:57 -0400

I tried to send both my resume and cover letter as pdfs and word docs, neither worked. Has anyone else had problems like this?

I obviously did not included offense language or graphics in my email. It was a line of text saying thanks for your consideration and just my 2 attached PDFs or Docs.

Thanks,
Dan

Not that this will help any but I tried it and got it right. The message I got back was:

Thank you for your interest in working at Bungie, an independent game studio
within Microsoft and temple of unbounded awesomeness. This message is to confirm
that your application has been received and will be reviewed by the appropriate
people here at Bungie and not simply dumped in a folder with get rich quick
schemes and herbal Viagra offers. Your application will also be forwarded to
Microsoft's electronic resume database for processing. That is not a euphemism
for a frightening cavity search.

If we find that there is an appropriate position that matches your skills and
experience, we will contact you.

If your application is in regard to an artist position, please make sure you
included samples of your work, either as files or as a URL. Because really, we
can't tell much about your artistic ability from your bold email claims. If you
didn't send samples the first time, please send in another application with
samples. Don't worry, that won't make us mad, because we deleted the one with no
samples and already forgot about it.

Be sure to include samples relevant to the position you are interested in
applying for. Your tortured metaphorical impressionist study of your own bodily
secretions may well be inspired and moving, but it doesn't really tell us much
about say, your 3D modeling skills. Applications that don't include relevant
samples will not be considered. We strongly discourage you from sending in
physical samples, but if you absolutely cannot find a way to send your samples
in digitally, you can mail them to the following address:

Bungie Studios
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, WA 98052

Unfortunately, due to the logistics and overhead of handling physical mail, we
are unable to return physical samples and you will not receive an
acknowledgement that your samples have arrived. So don't send anything you ever
want to see again.

Note: Due to the large number of applications sent to jobs@bungie.com, we are
unable to respond to any messages other than job applications. We cannot answer
questions about the status of your application. You will only receive a reply if
we are interested in following up with you about specific employment
possibilities. And please, for the love of all that's good, do NOT try to call
us to show how keen you are.

Note to Recruitment Agencies: In accordance with Microsoft's recruitment
policies, Bungie does not accept applicants from recruitment agencies and will
not pay a recruitment fee for any candidates.

That was pointless but cool.

I actually got that message back when I just sent a normal text message telling them about the problem, which confirms to me that it doesn't like my attachments. It's frustrating when I can't even apply for a job.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement

Try posting your resume somewhere online and then email jobs@bungie.net the url.
