I feel I'm an intermediate player, although I don't have xbconnect or live. The only way I practice right now is by starting up a map (ussually) CTF. Then I continue to kill the enemies as there standing still to improve my aiming but I only ever play a game (ussually 4-6 people) once a month. I've joined a clan and I need to practice up before Halo2 comes out if I get live by then or sometime near then.

By the way advice like don't die and pistol 3 hit kills isn't very helpful I can already do that.

Any advice you could give to help me out I don't want to let my clan down or I might get kicked out. =(

If you have more than one controller then set up a multiplayer game and apply some pressure to the joystick so that it moves, this should improve your game more!
But really the only way to improve is to play. I was thrown in at the deep end and had to play two experienced players without even knowing what was going on. But I slowly built up tactics and a favoured fighting style and now I am just as good as them!

Yea sometimes I use tactics but I ussually forget them in the heat of a battle. My favored fighting style is to be sneaky, I like to whack people in the back snipe and pistol snipe and grenade stuff.

Same here, me and my friend consider ourselves to be decent snipers so we sometimes indulge in a good ol 25 kill snipers match! He always seems confused about how I get behind him when he was looking at me and shooting at me only a few seconds ago!

But about your tactics, if you cant remember them then just keep trying them until they are ingrained into your brain, then itll all be second nature!

Pistol, shotgun, charge in pistol.........preferably from behind, and pistol snipe.

Ya my favorite combo is the sniper and pistol, but sometimes depending on my mood I whip out the shotugn! I've learned to get really good frag grenade placement because I hate the rocket launcher a lot, so it's easy to flip a hog and finish them with some good ol pistol action. I also love the sniper rifle becasue it's great from far away. I've also learned how to destroy people in veichles with a shotgun, all you do is if their too close to frag just sidestep and nail the driver with a blast to the face, then finish him with the pistol.

Ya with my tactics I ussually have a set plan I go by, I can't wait to get LIVE and halo 2 then I'll finally have someone to play against other than the odd 4-6 man battle once a month, and better yet it will take effort to win!

I was wondering though what is a good training routine to get into, all I do is shoot people that don't move I just keep killing them and sure it gets me used to aim and all but I don't feel much of an increase in skill lately, when I first started after a week or so I totally owned my friends, that was about 2 months ago I think I need a change, something that will make me better.

Well, Wessy, the only advice I have is to play through the campaign mode in every difficulty. The moving targets help out with aimming and you can also experiment with the grenades, like the angles to throw in order to get that group massacre across the field or to get that guy with his shotgun and his shadow right in front of you. And just keep playing matches with other people. I've been playing Halo for eight months and I just learned that the plasma weapons stun other players like a mutha and that crouching when you’re taking a fall from a high area can reduce damage. Both are simple, but were easily overlooked.

i agree with warheart...they only true way to get better is to play w/ your friends...but i think a true way to gauge your skill would be to play the library on legendary...you get alomst all of the weapons...and its a really really freaking hard level....if you get really good at that...you should have any problem making your friends look like babies

Get some rubber bands and tie en to your sticks so you have guys running in wide circles and suck, Get freakin discusting with your plasma grenades, Dont even worry about the pistol caus its probally not gonna be in halo 2. See if you can get a friend to drive you around in the hog and snipe/ grenade from the passenger seat. -blam!- if you can stick a nade on a moving target from a hog then you got it made. Head shots are nice too man. Campaign on legendary is good but not really caus you gotta change up your tactics for mutiplayer, But the aming practice helps.

Glad to hear you learned that warheart, it's a good thing to use in tight spots. If you just keep practicing, those little tricks become second nature. Well back to the subject. You should try to get xbc, if you're getting live why not just play now for free? I would play campaign even though I've memorized the game of Halo and know how many enemies are in the next room. There are moving targets and different places to practice your grenading. Plus the elites jump when you throw a nade at them (I hate that), so it's that much harder. Shotting at moveless targets is pretty simple, but I guess it lets you get more familar with the map you're playing on. Just keep playing, the worst thing you could do is to stop.
