In reference to halo does it stand for Laugh out loud or Lag on lan ?

Why when you play a lan ctf match there is still warping and people laggin all over the map.?

Yea but can you explain to me WHy a game would LAG on LAN, I thought with a 0 -3 ping you werent suppose to warp and lag all over the place.... ? ? ? can you explain this ?

Rooo, I think you've made your point in that halo pc is flawed and when h2v comes out, this game will only have 1000 players playing instead of the 1500+

And of course nobody knows what it's like to play on LAN b/c none of us were "pros" back in the day. However, Steele has told us all about his experience in CPL so I think our team has a pretty good idea how it was like.

I think Naota summed up halo lag very nicely in another thread (i forgot where), but he said the lag is bad only if you can't adapt. Really.. it's not THAT bad, that the game is unplayabe.

Cpl halo was fun, THere is no debating that, Lan was fun 16 hrs a day bootcamp for 5 days then the tournament... These people dont think gearbox was at fault my only point is then why wouldnt bungie use the same Company...

Not sure what kind of LAN it was. Two computers? 20 on a switch? 20 on a hub?

But here are some guesses:
1) You were on wireless. Wireless is crap.
2) You had a number of machines transferring data on a hub. Hubs work differently from switches and have a lower total data throughput than a switch. While a switch might manage 10/100/1000mbps per port for example, a hub will just manage 10/100/1000 per port, BUT if you max out one port, the entire hub becomes bogged down and you'll begin to see high levels of packet loss, which will cause warping whilst often keeping a low ping.

Can't think of anything else.

No this was at a pro competition, the CPl. I think its the way the game wa smade i just thought it was rediculous that on 0 ping people to warp like that, Like when u shoot them with the fuel rod gun point blank and it does know damage.

When I play on LAN (cable connected directly or wireless, whatever), my ping is always 50-60.

Somewhere on the gearbox forums one of the Gearbox employees went into detail on the lag in the netcode. I can't remember exactly how he explained it but he said there was like a half-second delay between when you press the button and when the server actually tracks the weapon. So your client is giving you the visual of the weapon firing but the server is tracking the actual projectile a half-second behind.

Strange, when I play with 8 computers with friends there is no lag, it is completely fine. Maybe cpl should be a little more professional and try and look into the problem?

On lan it is fine for me, no lag, as in no warping. It must be something cpl did...Also it had nothing to do with gearbox, the port was direct and quick, any other company and it would have been the same outcome. Look at xbc for example. Same kind of lag which they obviously had little time to fix.

Nessy, I started to like you kinda, but please compare to other games, lol And i assure you its not cpl's fault. His name is randy pitchford and was the head of gearbox, So dont say nuthing was wrong with it as you play h2v you will see the difference in gameplay, That type of lag happens no matter what network your running it on and machine. Why do you think CE was created, it was an attempt to improve a terribly ported game...

Also this lag at cpl does not and did not occur on counterstrike matches, Day of defeat/ battlefield 2 and quake series games/ This game had lag built into it, and this is why they arent porting it a 2nd time, bungie is not dumb

You are comparing the netcode and warpiness of halo to the properly structured netcode of other games? Clearly there must of been a problem at cpl cos I know many people that have had no warpiness/netcode problems on lan.

Just cos other games didn't appear to lag doesn't mean there wasn't some kind of problem. I can play css, I can play generals, I can play every online game I own except halo just now because my isp sucks.

Just read your new post:

The problem is the same problem that causes the lead. If you aimed infront of the hog a bit it would have died.

I’ve got to say that you (nessy) and roooo are the most immature people I’ve seen in awhile. Just reading the crap you both spew in this forum makes me want to not get h2vista because I know ill see you there. Nobody cares that you play video games at the age of 40. I doubt anyone else can stomach seeing you tools post about how good you are anymore and i doubt anyone cared in the first place. Also about that brilliant idea to break halo 1 pc cds.... Why would anybody break his or her halo 1 cd for an inferior halo 2 3-year port where they would be forced to play with toolbags like you guys? Please answer that last question for me.
