well we'll see if it is stupid. remember our market is harder to cater to- if it is not amazing then people on the PC wont buy it because its Halo(which was stolen from us... my precious). we get more choices and have a higher average IQ then console kidz, so they will blow 60 bucks on a terrible RTS that they cant control because they like spartans. I however, will spend forty bucks on supreme commander and with the money I save I will purchase the legendary edition of Halo 3.
because I am a fanboy- so the pot calls the kettle black ; )
Our market is harder to crater to? Please; how many people do you think will buy Halo 2 Vista, after it was released on Xbox 3 years ago? If there was a reason why it would be harder to cater to PC gamers, it would be because there are less PC gamers than console gamers. Also, to contradict your statement, we have less choices than console owners. According to the basic laws of economics, lower supply = higher demand for those games that are released to PC. Therefore, we would probably be easier to cater to, as there is a smaller selection. In response to the higher IQ's, I would have to agree. But only because PC gamers are, on average, older than console gamers. And if it does come out for PC, the fact that it is Halo (thinking about the huge halo and RTS and Ensemble fanbase) would be an excellent selling point. On that note, here a Q&A session with Phil Spencer of Ensemble. On the topic of controllability, I don't think it will be an issue in this upcoming game. In terms of blowing their money on a "terrible," RTS, to quote you "well we'll see if [that] is stupid." Lastly, since we are using idioms, "you can't judge a book by its cover." Halo wars has the potential to do very well on both PC and 360. But, like you said, we will just have to wait and see if it is a stupid idea not to release it to PC (though it will be ;-)
Now on topic: I'm excited for H2V because I'm getting a bit tired of playing Halo (though I still love it) and some new freshness is desperately wanted.
Cheers.
I dont know. It might be just my imagination but I always felt the PC had more options. Mostly because it has virtually no genre restrictions like the consoles. and since when you make a pc game you dont have to worry about three different systems' compatibility all games for PC are playable on.... well all pc's. to get the whole console experience you need three of em. I have never felt wanting in the PC game market, while on the xbox i have noticed that I always want more content and choice. not to mention lower game prices.
Im not saying people wont buy H2V in fact, despite me not being truly excited, I WILL probably get it once i get a dx10 card/ Vista because Halo 1 is Dying out too fast.
