Mac OSX is better for many reasons.

Macs are better all around computers with more power and stability than the PCs.
OSX looks prettier and uses less CPU.
OSX can run games just as good as Vista.
OSX doesn't shut down your computer if you have illegal programs.
OSX is more user friendly and common gamers may not have experience with computers.
Vista is clunky.
Vista login window stucks.
In Vista the lower caSe "S" key is not working.
In Vista, the menu bar keeps flashing.
In Vista, I can't drag and drop.
Apple is providing a rich set of technologies on top of Unix upon which ground breaking applications are being written. Some of these apps were written first on the Mac and are now showing up on Windows.
Mac OS X is the first real desktop Unix with end user applications.
PCs are less secure.
Macs are smugger.

Why not to get Vista
By Apple

1. No upgrade nightmares.
Before you can even think about Vista, you’ll likely need a new PC. Or upgrades for memory, hard disk, and graphics card. Why go through all that hassle, when you can just get a Mac? More

2. You can even run Windows.
The Mac gives you choices. With the latest software options, an Intel-powered Mac can easily run Vista or Windows XP applications. Not that you’ll want to... More

3. It’s simpler.
No need to choose from the many (and expensive) flavors of Vista. Every Mac runs the same Mac OS X — with the full set of industry-leading features. More

4. You don’t have to buy new stuff.
Your existing printer, camera, keyboard, and mouse will work with a Mac. PCs and Macs can usually share peripherals if they connect via USB, FireWire, or Bluetooth, three industry standards available on every Mac. More

5. Know iTunes? You know Mac.
You’ll recognize features like the library collection, playlist arrangement, and instant search in many Mac applications. So you’re something of a Mac expert already. More

6. Macs run Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office for Mac OS X gives you Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, all with familiar features and shortcut commands. For collaborative work, Office for Mac connects to Microsoft Exchange servers. More

7. You can take it with you.
Most popular applications for Mac and PC use the same file formats, making it simple to exchange documents with friends and coworkers or move existing files from a PC to a Mac.

Whay Macs are Sweet
By Apple

1. It just works.
How much time have you spent troubleshooting your PC? Imagine a computer designed by people who hate to waste time as much as you do. Where all the hardware and software just works, and works well together. Get a Mac and get your life back. More

2. You can make amazing stuff.
Every Mac comes with iLife, a suite of software that transforms your photos, music, and video into all kinds of projects. Make high-quality websites, photo books, DVDs, songs, slideshows, music CDs, calendars, cards, prints, podcasts, music videos, documentaries, and more. More

3. Everything-ready.
The Mac is the only computer in the world that can run all the major operating systems, including Mac OS X, Windows XP, and Vista. With software like Parallels Desktop or VMware you can even run them side by side. More

4. 114,000 viruses? Not on a Mac.
Mac OS X was designed for high security, so it isn’t plagued by constant attacks from viruses and malware like PCs. Likewise, it isn’t plagued by never-ending security dialog boxes like those in Vista. So you can safely go about your work — or play — without interruption. More

5. Still the most advanced OS.
No other operating system, Vista included, offers the rich features and simplicity of Mac OS X. And just as Vista tries to get closer (emphasis on “tries”), Mac OS X Leopard is right around the corner — ready to leap even farther ahead. More

6. The latest Intel chips.
Intel Core 2 Duo processors are fast. As in really fast. But unlike any PC powered by Intel, the Mac runs Mac OS X — which is optimized to squeeze every bit of performance out of Intel’s engines. More

7. No hunting for drivers.
Just about everything works with Mac — even the stuff you used with your old PC. All you have to do is plug it in. A Mac has USB drivers for printers, external drives, digital cameras, input devices, iPod, and more. It can see Bluetooth cell phones and headsets, as well as FireWire cameras. No rebooting, no hassles. More

8. Design that turns heads.
You won’t want to hide your Mac in a corner of the den. You’ll want it front and center in your life. The Apple style shows in every detail, from its sculpted surfaces to its gorgeous Mac OS X graphics. More

9. Instant video chats.
Setting up a video chat with the people next door — or across the globe — should be as simple as picking up the phone. On a Mac, you just click an icon to have a four-way video chat in a full-screen window with amazing clarity and special effects. More

10. More fun with photos.
On a Mac, you don’t need any extra software to make a photo book. You don’t have to leave your photo software to visit a separate website and wait for forms to load. All you need is a camera and a Mac. More

11. Hollywood-style movies.
Connect your DV camera and turn your movies into spectaculars. Add graphics, titles, and sound effects in minutes. Then use your Mac to burn a DVD or post to your website. More

12. One-click websites.
How long does it take to post a photo or video to your blog on a PC? On a Mac, you can shoot a picture or a movie with the built-in camera, then post it on the web in a few clicks. Pontificate, preachify, and publish. The hardest part is coming up with something to say. More

13. Amazing podcasts.
Want to get your message out to the world? Podcast it. A Mac makes it simple to create professional podcasts, complete with artwork. Add sound effects and jingles, even use the built-in radio engineer to make it perfect. So you can be a talk star in seconds. More

14. Rock star tunemaking.
Musicians get all the girls (or guys). And a Mac has the software to turn you into the musician of your dreams. Choose from hundreds of cool riffs and instruments to create your own songs. Get good enough and you could be on iTunes. More

15. Awesome out of the box.
Other computers include software, it’s true. But once you start using that software, you find that you’re hobbled in some way or another. Software included with the Mac, on the other hand, is critically acclaimed as best in class.

1. Yes, they may be more stable in certain circumstances. I have had less crashes on Vista than on XP.
2. Oooohhhhh shinnnnnnyyyyyyyyy!
3. Games? What games? No HL2, Halo 2, Splinter Cell(other than the first), CSS, CS1.6.
4. Neither does Vista. It only shuts down if you have an illegal copy of the OS itself.
5. Vista isn't that hard to use. Most people under the age of 70 know how to use a PC.
6. No it isn't.

Except that we don't agree. In fact, most of us would go out of our way to tell you that Windows beats the crap out of Macs.

I'm sorry, but your opinion isn't irrefutable fact. Nice try, though.

It's funny how since your last thread failed so miserably, you had to make this one. Normally, I would say that Macs are okay, but you are being completely biased and extremely opinionated. You are exaggerating the facts. Macs can't handle games the way PCs can, it's proven fact. At least, you can't argue with the results. You can spend $6,000 on a Mac or spend less than half that and get a better gaming machine with a PC.

EDIT: You know what? Don't feed the trolls.

oh boy, is this going to be FUN....ny....
Windows is written in what language exactly...from what i've heard/seen, C++. a very stable and powerfull coding if done correctly.
now, lets take a look, what language are games programmed in. C++ mostly. Wow!
what is a Mac OS programmed in? i have no -blam- idea, because i never pay attention to macs. kinda funny how they portray the PC in Mac ads as always working with some pie chart...
Mac gamers , oh yea! brick, ch00ch00!! I haven't even seen the Mac's game's shelf.
OSX can't run games from what i've seen, because of it's different coding.
ooks prietiier, what, is computers these days considered a fasion statement or something?
Power and Stabiblty i can't say, because i've never ran on a Mac, and hope to god that i never will.
dunno about what i said, but thats what i've heard and gathered around it.
to me: PC is better than Mac, because PC can play "video games".

Good try.

If windows was written in just C++ the computer wouldn't work. It has many different levels. C++ is for humans because understanding something a computer can is much harder than understanding something closer to English, but you need something to change that C++ into binary the computer can use. It doesn't just happen. Its not that macs can't play games its because people don't develope for macs. Its just different.

I just think the thread starter is in denial. Its quite obvious that H2V will not come out on mac simply because Apple and Microsoft are enemies so to speak.

That too. The point is not whether Macs can handle games as well as Windows can (which they can't), but that Microsoft won't let Bungie release Halo 2, their own intellectual property, on their opponent's operating system.

Alright guys, I'm glad you agree with my point of view on this topic.

~Macz 4 Life~

While it's great to see another Mac gamer around Bungie.net (with myself being one), I have several issues with your statements.

It's not a question of can OSX run games, it's a question of will it be allowed to run them.

Think about who owns H2V. Sure, Bungie created the IP, but ultimately, it is Microsoft Games who owns H2V.

Microsoft.

Microsoft is no friend of Apple. Why would Microsoft make a cool toy for Apple, when that same toy could be Microsoft's, and Microsoft's alone?

Of course, Apple and Microsoft collaborate (think Office for OSX) but there is mutual distrust and cloak and dagger. It's just like World War II, with the Western Allies (United States and Britain, democracies both) in a partnership with the Eastern arm of the Allies, the Soviet Union (communist). And if the Cold War, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War taught us anything, it's that democracies and communist governments do not get along.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Microsoft and Apple aren't buddy-buddy, but they will work together to vanquish a common foe (I suppose for the sake of the scenario it would be DOS n Linux).

I haven't used Vista yet, but give it some time to work out the kinks. A lot of time, as the case may be. OSes (Mac, PC, or otherwise) never launch without a hitch.

Part of holding a discussion, forum or otherwise, is listening to the viewpoints of others.

OSX is built around Unix. Quite a robust foundation, from what I've heard of people exploring the innards of the code.

Call me shallow, but I'll take more time to learn a pretty OS than plug-and-play an ugly one.
I hope you aren't one of those fellows who runs in 256 colors. :P

The Mac game shelf? You're looking in the wrong store. Stores like Best Buy and Target won't have one, because Mac gaming is (quite) a niche market. (Of all of the Mac users, how many of them actually play games?)

Can't run games? Hehehe. I downloaded the Prey demo, a (relatively) recent game. Weee.

Macs are good for video and sound editing, but not much else. Not only is this information biased, most of it's untrue.

Example-You claim that you must upgrade your computer for Vista, yet you state later that any Mac can run Vista (despite the lower specs).

I'm surprised this wasn't linked yet...

Intel Core 2 Duo processors are fast. As in really fast. But unlike any PC powered by Intel, the Mac runs Mac OS X — which is optimized to squeeze every bit of performance out of Intel’s engines. More

LOL, core 2 Duos have been available on PCs for ages now too...

More

I dont hunt for drivers either on my windows machine...

You won’t want to hide your Mac in a corner of the den. You’ll want it front and center in your life. The Apple style shows in every detail, from its sculpted surfaces to its gorgeous Mac OS X graphics. More

If I wanted to hide my PC it wouldnt be on the top of my desk.

Setting up a video chat with the people next door — or across the globe — should be as simple as picking up the phone. On a Mac, you just click an icon to have a four-way video chat in a full-screen window with amazing clarity and special effects. More

I have never videochated in my life, but I doubt it's that hard.

10. More fun with photos.
On a Mac, you don’t need any extra software to make a photo book. You don’t have to leave your photo software to visit a separate website and wait for forms to load. All you need is a camera and a Mac. More

I dont want a photobook lol, I want to be able to tweak the image so it doesnt look like it came from the crappy camera most mac owners have.

Connect your DV camera and turn your movies into spectaculars. Add graphics, titles, and sound effects in minutes. Then use your Mac to burn a DVD or post to your website. More

can be done on windows too

How long does it take to post a photo or video to your blog on a PC? On a Mac, you can shoot a picture or a movie with the built-in camera, then post it on the web in a few clicks. Pontificate, preachify, and publish. The hardest part is coming up with something to say. More

blogging lol

Want to get your message out to the world? Podcast it. A Mac makes it simple to create professional podcasts, complete with artwork. Add sound effects and jingles, even use the built-in radio engineer to make it perfect. So you can be a talk star in seconds. More

so easy to use no wonder it's number 1!

Musicians get all the girls (or guys). And a Mac has the software to turn you into the musician of your dreams. Choose from hundreds of cool riffs and instruments to create your own songs. Get good enough and you could be on iTunes. More

Nice mention of -blam!- musicians

Other computers include software, it’s true. But once you start using that software, you find that you’re hobbled in some way or another. Software included with the Mac, on the other hand, is critically acclaimed as best in class.

It's probably not even worth posting this because you will never respond.

All of this wouldn't fit in one post

There are so many things wrong with the thread creators post, I don't even know where to begin. So I'm just going to say that PC's can do anything Mac's can do. Sometimes better, with just as much stability and security.

My PC has never had a Windows related crash. And if I do get a virus, a five minute virus scan solves that problem. There aren't many viruses for Macs because what self respecting virus programmer is going to waste thier time coding a virus for an OS that a fraction of computer users have? Which brings me to my next question, if Macs are so great, why do so few people use them? Obviously there's something about windows that a lot of people like. Else they would be using Macs no?

Sorry Apollo-whatever, but you phail in ways I never thought a human being could.

Okay, so because you have small problems with Vista, you say its bad? Try fixing your hardware, may solve your S key problem.

Oh and -blam!- macs. They're completely overpriced. If they costed a bit less, then I'd say its an okay os, but, the price isn't worth it.

Maw

Apparently you are having problems with Vista. Why don't you try running it on something other than your Macintosh?
