Well, I've been playing the Halo series since the beginning, and my only problem is the game modes have pretty much been the same. I thought a new, cool game mode would be "Defend The Base". There would be 2-4 players online all on the same team, and there would be covenant enemies swarming into an arena about 500 square feet in size.There would also be a base in the center that the players would need to defend, with access to plenty of human weapons. There would be a certain time limit that players would need to defend their base. Each player has up to 5 lives(depending on custom settings) and after the lives of all players are used up, it's game over. And to prevent players from just sniping at the base, there would also be drones (which we all know are pretty *blam* hard to snipe) This mode I think would make up for the lack of co-op. Let me here your opinions on this mode.

Bungie doesn't do bots.

Sorry.

Yeah but it would be like the ai from campaign.

Well, hopefully someone will just make a mod similar to this.

A little late to be making suggestions now don't you think?

Not really a suggestion, just an idea.

By the way, this really isn't... new. An "onslaught"-like game mode has been implemented in many games.

Yeah but it would be like the ai from campaign.

AI = Bots
Bots = Computer Player
Computer Play = AI
in games AIs, Bots, Computer Players all mean the same thing, a computer contruled player who does what every it wants as long as it is with in the programing.

The only way to have a MP AI/Bot is if you have two computers, with H2V installed on them, and some program that acts like the AI tags in the campaign, but the only problem I can see is that I really don't think there is some one that knows how to make hacks like that for H2V, yet.

Yeah, I was just thinking they needed a new game mode, considering the only popular ones are ctf and slayer.

You're forgetting about Oddball. King of the Hill? Don't forget that within these game types, people can create their own style of a game mode, which can become radically different from what was originally intended.

I'm sorry, but few games can rival Halo 2's level of customization when it comes to game types.

  • 03.28.2007 4:19 PM PDT

CTF
Slayer (Team or free for all)
Odd Ball (Team or free for all)
King of the Hill (Team or free for all)
those are the main game types that I know of that Halo 2 has right now, one game type that I have not seen in Halo 2, is race.

I know about odd ball and king of the hill etc, but those game modes have been there since the beginning, and aren't much fun imo.

Odd ball is fun, you just need to know what gametype setings need to be set at what to make it fun.

dude, I made a odd ball game type that it's like jug. but when you're it, people can see you, and you can ran faster, or has more damage then every one else, and when you're not it, no one can see you, and it's like hide and seak, but it's more like Seak and run.

Your idea has merit, but I don't think it will handle too well with even the beefiest of rigs trying to process in all those enemies and such at once.

Yeah true.

Really I just hope they do their best work on multi player, because pretty much every1 knows the basic storyline of halo2 already, so multi player is gonna be pretty much the only thing people will do.

It's called Cat and Mouse
What you do is you make a new gametype (I called it cat and mouse obviuosly) then you turn on warthogs and wraiths only, start out with a plasma pistol and no grenades or weapons on map, then make it a team game, then set number of lives per player to 1 and 3 rounds, then no sheilds, then go to multiplayer, make a team game, then put two people in one team we'll say the reds and the other amount on a diffrent team we'll call them the green's , then you get the two people on the red team to get in the wraiths then all the rest in hogs' and no one can shoot, the hogs' and wraiths must all stay in the blue or reds half of the area (you decide but only one area), then the wraiths try to keep ramming the warthogs over and over again untill they blow up and all of the hogs' are eliminated, and the hogs' try to avoid being smashed, and remember no shooting at all.

It's really fun I used to play it all the time.

Let's not forget a custom classic--zombies!

That could actually be a good substitute for your "onslaught" game mode concept.

I always wanted something like that. Sort of like a D-Day in halo. I actually have a game for that. One team gets as many chain hogs as they want. The other team has to get up to the base without dying or killing the machine gunners. It's the funnest thing in the world. Most people run up and die, but after a few games it gets hard because they start to keep their heads down under rocks and what not.
