What it is.

The 7900GT is a good card, i have it, the only problem is nVidia's drivers. So far they need to release official drivers and now just the beta version(which fixed a lot of bugs from the previous 100.65). Other than that, it's a good card to have.

They still have beta drivers? Or are you using vista?

I'm getting a 8600GT next month when they come out.

You don't want to wait a bit? Personally I am going to get the GeForce 8800 GTX in about 6 months, should have dropped by a hundred bucks at least, especially to compete with the r600 cards that ATI/AMD are cooking up. I wonder if they delayed release so they could drop the hammer on the 8 series with working drivers...

I would love to wait for the next line of DX10 cards to come out, but I want to upgrade my PC before Halo 2 Vista comes out. So, that ain't happening. :/

Ok, but don't you think the 8800GTS 320MB would be a better choice? :/

Get a 7900gto 512mb if you can find one, cheap and perform at 7900gtx level. (can be found for under $200). I know it's not dx10 but still

No, I would say get a normal 8800gts(400$) this will prob perform better at higher resolutions than the 320mb and with higher textures(If you've ever played GRAW with a 128mb card you know what I'm talking about) Since h2v is big on hd textures and such, u should get the 640mb 8800gts.

But he is on a budget, and the 88000GTS 320MB has more RAM than the 8600 will have, I assume anyway that it will be 256 :/

I guess it depends on just how tight his budget is, as I presume the 8600 will be cheaper than the 320MB 8800GTS...

Well, yes but I was actualy comparing the 320 gts to the 640 gts. The gts 320 will be better than the 8600gt, and by then probably only $50 more.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

There is no reason not get a dx10 card or wait for the midrange ones to come out.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I'm getting an 8600GT also when I get around to upgrading.

Question: Is it possible to use a processor unit as or to support a graphics processor?

Or you could simply wait another year and get a quad core.

I agree with nessy, I used to be an amd fanboy but It's just not worth it anymore. In half life 2(I know its not halo but bare wtith me) the e6400 beat the x2 6000 in benchmarks. Not to mention intel has better boards (680i) the 680a is just a pathetic attempt to keep up.

If you look up the benchmarks, you will see that the core 2 duo beats the x2 processors at absolutely everything. My e6600 out performs the fx-62, amds finest processor and is less that half its price.

I am using Vista. The only reason i mentioned that is because i thought he wanted to know for like Halo 2 Vista. But yeah, if you wait til April 17th(?) the new geforce 8 series cards are coming out,
