Seeing nobody went for the "Post count" How about custom signitures, the kind that some other fourms have but Bungie dossn't. The ones where you can embed a image.

No. This is not "some other forum," so please stop suggesting that b.net conform to them.

With the massive number of alt accounts that are constantly created here, it would be far too difficult to either approve every single image as they are uploaded or to weed out the offensive images that will inevitably be posted. That's why users cannot embed images in sigs or posts, and that will never change.

Just because other forums have it doesn't mean that Bungie should. You'll notice that there are a lot less people publicly complaining about offensive content on these forums than there are on many others, and a lot of it is due to the security restrictions on personalization.

I personally don't like the idea; plain-text links work fine for me. You can always just link to the image in your sig.

Mearly a suggestion, don't cry.

Well, wait a tic guys. What would be kinda nice was if the same image you select for you player profile could be set to the background for your sig. The text would be on top. I don't know how much trouble it would be to resize the images, but I think that could be a compromising idea.

Still, just the amount of time it takes to load every single picture in every single person's signature, would in itself be a reason not to have it. If you get a page full of posts, with each person having a high-definition Halo 3 background in their signature, it would eventually start to slow things down.

Yeah, even if it was cached, it might take a while to load.

I'd probably get a headache after a while from that; there'd probably be a different image separating each post.

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

Yeah I say "No" too. Like Save Ferris said, the fact that there aren't images in the sigs is probably saving a lot hard drive space and time in complaints and moderation. Having some to pick from would be a decent compromise, but I'd still forgo that option in favor of faster page loads, personally. If the hover behavior of the sigs used AJAX to load the sig only if it was hovered over, then maybe it would be ok; But that's a lot of busy work for the developers just to have prettier sigs.

Yet another feature we can't have because of the maturity of the people on these forums :-/

It's a shame really. Sometimes it feels like we're "missing out" on some really cool stuff. As stated, this place isn't like "other forums" but some of those other forums are cool because they have things like customizable sigs (with images.)

Meh.

yeah. i think we should be able to have pics in our sig. i mean if they cant always be seen and thus it dosnt back up the forums, why not.

aww, imaturity......"offensive pictures"......thats what the mods are here for if you see someone with an offensive sig, either dont look at it, dont talk or respond to it, or tell a forum mod or bungie mod. it's called feedback

It takes away from peoples posts. I'd rather "judge" a member by his ability to communicate instead of how cool his barely-legal-semi-nude Christina Aguilera sig is.

Besides, its not like the internet is going to run out of naked women or dumb animated gifs any time soon.

I don't want a page to take more than 30 seconds to load becuase everyone has a [IMG] tag in their sigs. Never.

Firstly, with the way that the site is currently designed, it would slow page loads down. Just because an element isn't visible, doesn't mean it's not loaded (Google: "css display:hidden" or "css display:none"). Secondly, that feedback you're referring to will be in the form of a whole bunch of PMs and posts that we all have to wade through (And moderators would need to act on). Not having the images is so much more relaxing for everyone...

And that pretty much sums it up... :)

I don't like the pictures you find on other forums, or the brash yellow faces...

They clutter the forum up, and quite often don't fit in with the layout of the site.
