KOTOR | The WarriorsI'll chain you to the truth for the truth shall set you free
I'll turn the screws of vengeance and bury you with honesty
I'll make all your dreams come to life, then slay them as quickly as they came

How hard would it be to add more BB Codes for us to use (B.net Online Team)? Our current list of ones are:

- Bold
- Italic
- Underline
Quote- Link - http://www.bungie.net
- Named Link
- Email [email]example@hotmail.com[/email]
- * Bullet (even if it can be made by just using the one on your keyboard *. It should go back to how it was.)

I was wondering if we could have access to a few more of them on the main forums, such as:
Left Align - [left]value[/left]
Center - [center]value[/center]
Right Align - [right]value[/right]
Header - [hr] (Why was this taken away?)
Indent - [indent]value[/indent]
Named Email - [email=Option]value[/email]
Bulleted List - (This is listed as a tag on the site but it doesn't work. It simply appears as the value you put in between the tag.)
Advanced Bullet Lists -
[list=1]
* list item 1
* list item 2

[list=a]
* list item 1
* list item 2

(As they are now, they appear as simple *, but if added they would appear in either 1, 2, 3 format, or a, b, c format.)

Those are the ones I think would be useful and would not be abused. Now, there are other tags I'd like to see, but only in groups, and only if it was an option to turn them on by the admins of the group. For example,

Color - [color=Option]value[/color]
Text Size - [size=+2]this text is two sizes larger than normal[/size]
Highlight - [highlight]value[/highlight] (Either Color or Highlight would be useful in groups depending on the color of the theme used in the group).

Just some food for thought. I see no harm in adding them if they'd be used to benefit the posts of members without being abused.

Lists were very useful and I would like to see them come back. Also a lot of people liked the hr tag as it was useful for separating different ideas or paragraphs. Color is something we used to have but it was woefully abused with colors like bright yellow and lime green. Text size and highlight would be most likely equally abused.

I agree. Just as long as people don't start making each letter a different color, I'm fine with it.

I would only like the left, center, and right tags. The others are useless.

Not only do I not want to see very large annoying, and capitalized words in a post, I don't want to see them in really annoying and headache causing bright pink and other bright colours (yes it's spelled right ).

Indents would make post look more proffesionall. You shouldn't have to use vB code for it though. (I call it vB code, that's what they call it on UG)

I can see how "color" and "size" tags could be abused but it shouldn't be that hard for mods to keep that under control. (this would be a great example for the 8 hour-ban)

Everything else sounds good.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I do not want colors.... drab uniform gray is both aesthetically pleasing and wonderfully symbolic of our one-minded, brainwashed Bungie worship.

Indented lists and bulleted lists, however, are sorely missed here. I really really want them back, as my longer posts tend to require these lists just to make the post organized enough to read (not that they are any more readable with the lists).

I'd like to see [hr] back, and strikethrough also. I like that one, it's good for jokes...

A nice bullet like so --> • <-- would be appreciated, as well as indented lists of some kind. Left, right and centred layout tags aren't really needed I don't think but I don't see how they would cause harm...

I said that the color options would only be available in groups, and an option for the admins at that. I agree that they should never be used on the main forums.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

[hr] was removed because people were abusing it.

I would like to see more advanced options because then it's easier for people to make their posts reader-friendly.

What is this "[hr]"?

Basically just a long flat line that goes the width of your post. Say for instance. This line:
___________
This line was created using the shift+underscore key. However, with [hr] the line would be automatically created, and extend the length of the post, not too far, too little.

What Roki7 said.

hr = acronym for horizontal rule

Yeah, I posted this Idea a little while back from with my ideas coming from here if anyone is intrested- http://www.highimpacthalo.org/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode#color. I didn't present it well, at least now this idea will be viewed by more people and hopefully bungie will take note.

I thought of a problem with the allignments though, imagine people posting a little like this and ignore the dots-

If people can't resist posting in all caps, I heartily doubt they could resist posting in obnoxious and different colours. Sadly, the actions of a few will always affect the rights of the whole.

To some extent, yes. That is the balance that any society must decide upon.

But to use only negative reaction and reinforcement, that will eventually drive out the positive contributors in a society. By allowing rewards, recognition and benefits to constructive contributions, there is a positive reinforcement as well. Examples (both positive and negative) can be seen, and the members of the society can choose their own path, aware of the risks and results of their choice.

I would have gone into the topic of rewards, but I was in a hurry when I posted that. However, as much as creating a reward system for new codes is plausible, it strikes me as a trivial feature to waste a reward system on,

Well if the ninjas could enforce the rules regarding codes and such, then they wouldn't be abused...as much.

But honestly, I think members can understand each other fine with the current codes that are allowed. They may not let you be as organized as a member would like them to be, but the system works to an extent.

[hr] was removed because people were abusing it.

I would like to see more advanced options because then it's easier for people to make their posts reader-friendly.

I would like more controls as well, but as you pointed out, abuse is almost certain.

For example, there was color.... some people were idiots, and we all lost it.
Then there was italics.... some people abused it and got blacklisted.
Members had sigs for saying something clever, in some cases they were abused and turned into annoying billboards, now they are controlled.
We're even to the point of locking threads because of all caps subject lines.

To me, the root cause of all of this is apparent. Any tool that is made and intended to help make posts easier to read or follow can also be abused. The abuse comes from the understandable human desire to be noticed. In the case of the color, caps, italics abuses it was almost always a matter of A) a member who wanted to stand out from the crowd, or B) someone is making a topic that they know has either been discussed to death or isn't that interesting and they want to attract attention to it.

Much like anything, advanced formatting is a constructive tool in the right hands, but an annoyance or danger when in the hands of an irresponsible or immature individual. So what can we do? Well, in the past, we've followed the "now you've ruined it for everyone" course of action. Which can work in some situations, but it is just a form of negative enforcement. It doesn't encourage positive behavior and it doesn't demonstrate the benefits of being helpful.

I think that this (like many other ideas that are improvements but carry the risk of abuse) should be considered as a potential "Elite Reward" for the system that Achronos is evaluating/tweaking. By making the rewards (such as advanced formatting) linked to positive behavior/actions and the loss of them linked to negative actions, it would offer both the carrot AND the stick.

A big question would be if the Latest Hawtness allows the enabling/disabling of such features at an account level. I don't know the answer to that.

If all else fails, then your idea would be very nice. I just don't see why the enforcement of abusing these tags shouldn't go up, like a month ban for anyone abusing the tags in any way.
