I hate annoying people, especially people who makes stupid remarks. Bungie should allow you to remove people who post stupid things on your thread.

No, once it is posted on the forums it is no longer YOUR thread but rather the communities thread.

QFT, you took the words out of my mouth. It also leads to to much control for us members (as wierd as that sounds). It wouldn't result good.

And here I had my hopes up... :(

I initially thought it'd be a good idea, but they make a good point, it is the community's topic, not entirely your own.

Too True.

If i could block someone from a thread i created about lets say shy BR is better than SMG (check the optimatch there are hundreds of them), then all those who disagreed with my view point would be blocked and i could warp the thread into a 'BR love in'. Would that not suck? The moderators try to ban spammers and such so let them do there meanial, pointless and thankless job.

As a rule users will never be able to control any part of Bungie.net other the Personal messages and groups. As soon as you give control of anything to an enormous user community you have just lost control of that area.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

I've found that even the most dimwitted user occasionally has something useful to say.

Usually.

I know a few of the moderators (I won't call anyone out here) who have made it a personal rule to send warnings (or blacklists?) to people who come into threads and post things like: "Who cares?" and then leave. :P

Actually, come to think of it, most pointless or mean posts seem to get warnings/blacklistings from all the moderators..

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

One does not simply grenade jump into Mordor...

If they did allow us to do that, I would immediately create a thread about how much cooler I am than und3rTaker, and immediately lock und3rTaker out from the thread. As the "discussion" ensued, I would continue to lock out anyone who didn't sing my praises, and ultimately I would convince myself that I am the coolest person ever.

I jest, of course. I was just pointing out the the fact that forums are for discussion, and effective discussion requires that people are able to communicate. Locking people out of a thread is essentially making a part of the website inaccessible to them. Moderators themselves only do stuff like that after careful consideration.

It would be nice to block out a user's post from your viewing, but not from a thread.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

My Vote is no.

Say i disagree with the poster in a polite and mature way.

They dont like it because i dissagreed with them.

They block my post.

Leave the moderating to the mods.

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

But what if the author is the stupid person? You've destroyed the balance of power and awakened Alucard!

I logged into Bungie.net and all I got was this lame member rank.

No. Even if some users used the power responsibly, others would just continue to block other users from threads for no reason. Sometimes the stupid posts make the entire thread more fun to read anyway.
