I imagine a bunch of people who like Battle Rifle starts will really enjoy that map.

I'm just upset that you can't use microsoft points on these maps. I hate using credit cards on stuff like this. Oh well....

  • 03.30.2007 10:47 AM PDT

Damn you roor!

Thank you very much for releasing them for the original xbox!! I can't wait to play the beta on my 360, but h2 is best on the original xbox.

Because the maps are only available from inside Halo 2 (you won't find them on the Xbox Live Marketplace). As you might recall, original Xbox Live games don't know how to use MS Points. Also, you'll have to have an Xbox Live Gold account to purchase them (again, because original Xbox Live games don't know about Xbox Live Silver). Of course, that requirement isn't a big deal unless you only play system link or something, because you have to have Xbox Live Gold to play them online anyway.

Sierra 173 - The Siegebreaker

Shweet!

Hang'em High was my favorite multiplayer map, and it looks insane in this remake. Too bad I stopped paying for xbox live about two years ago...oh, well.

I'll just play it over my friends house.

Why not make an auto update for Halo 2 that can check a 360s Hard Drive for the new maps? It doesn't have any trouble loading games saves from the hard drive. That way, 360 owners without credit cards could download them via MS points and then when they go int othe Halo 2 download manager It could load the maps from the hard drive? I believe that you guys are going to miss a fairly large section of business by making it credit card only.

I have been a die hard Bungie fan and I hate to be denied access to the new maps.

I believe original Xbox games' downloadable content is tied to the machine, not the gamertag. So, if you pay for it on your Xbox, you'll probably have to pay for it again on your Xbox 360. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.

Brilliant! Thanks Certain Affinity and Bungie. The new maps are stunning, I think the graphics overhaul is very imaginative and they look beautiful.

Am I right in thinking that I can pay for them on my Xbox, recover my account to 360 and download them again on there? Or will I have to suck it up and buy 'em twice (which won't be a problem, considering how inexpensive they are!).

Thankyou! :]

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

Still brings up the question about the 360 maps and such. Hopefully the update today will answer that.
EDIT: Achronos is right about the above^^^

Because Bungie didn't want you to unlock them, obviously. Do you expect to rob a bank and have the PD congratulate you for "finding the money"? ;)

lol..

i just jizzed...

i can't wait to see these!

  • 03.30.2007 10:54 AM PDT

THANK YOU BUNGIE. HEH is still my all time favorite map, shame it took this look to materialize. And would have perfered to have seen it in Halo 3 along with Damnation. But hell this is still amazing. THANK YOU for recognizing your hardcore fans that made Bungie who they are today. And continue to relate to your roots to make H3 less newb-friendly and have the possible skill levels wide like Halo 1. (In other words it took much less skill to be an 'elite' in Halo 2) Damnation is also a design genius and understand that it limits the orginal design of the level designs purpose without fall damage.

But a solution would be to fix the fall damage problem seen with the sword in Halo 2 to truely widen futire map possibilities and a whole new aspect to gameplay. It was too simple in Halo 2 to run off a high cliff and excape danger after being wounded.

1. Bandwidth costs money. Oh, and so does map development. Besides, $4 is more than reasonable for two maps.
2. And no, these aren't in Halo 2 Vista. They were developed by Certain Affinity for Halo 2 on Xbox specifically.

Frankie and team, I'm sorry. I'm normally a very positive and encouraging person, but this is just weak.
To release these at a cost of ANYTHING this late in the game, it's almost rude.
Am I wrong in assuming that these maps will likely be in the Vista version of Halo2 also releasing in a month or so?
If so, development will be paid for by the sale of the Vista game. Having to pay $4.00 for two remakes is not going to get me back into halo2. (I'd have to pay 2x since my wife plays(past tense) with my clan on her own Xbox.
I'm sure you thought about this reaction and the business required it... so I'm sure it's no surprise and I wont be the only one feeling this way :)
Looking forward to Halo3... can't wait for the beta! (Hint Hint )
cheers,
'Fish

I loved Hang'em High! 2 questions though: Why isn't this for Halo 3, and why does it looks so utterly damned fugly?

Okay, people. If you don't have a credit card, go tell your parents to get you a gift card and put 4 dollars on it. Not very hard at all.
That also works if you're worried about someone stealing it, because it'll only have 4 dollars on it.

Bungie simply placed the download in the most reasonable place - inside the game (where it's supposed to go). This makes original XBOX users happy and 360 users can still buy them, also.

Another note - I hope people will stop complaining that Bungie doesn't tell/give them anything.

I'm definitely buying these maps myself - I loved both Hang 'Em High and Derelict, but I hated the HEH fall damage. Plus I think the maps will be a lot more fun now that you don't die the second you spawn.

It will if you configure your game to have BR starts. I don't know what it will be in matchmaking, I haven't seen the playlist config for it.

From what I understand you can download on the 360. But instead of marketplace, you go through your Halo 2 download manager. The problem is that many 360 owners no longer have credit cards tied to their accounts because it is not necessary and as we have recently seen, not safe either.

Yes.
1) Put the "Halo 2" game disc into your 360.
2) Go to the Content Downloader once the game has started.
3) Pay 4 dollars on your credit card. If you don't have a credit card, see my post above.
4) There is no four. The maps should be downloading to your 360.
