I think I should be ported to macs.

Why do you want to be ported to a mac?

So I can play it on a computer.... I dont have vista... and im not getting it.....
And I looked up that cider thing... They could port the whole game in less than a day....
I dont see what they would lose from it either... more money. They stand to gain even MORE fro it...

You didin't notice you said you wanted to ported to a mac so i asked why.

PLEASE DO NOT SAY STUFF LIKE 'MACS SUCK 'MUHAHAHA'. Thank you. If Bungie is making HALO 2 for Vista, why not make HALO 2 for Macs? There's this new thing called Cider that makes it much faster to port games from PC's to Macs, but it has to be on Intel Macs only; luckily I'm using one of those right now. Plus, I with mann Mac users that bought HALO: Combat Evolved for MacHopefully, Bungie takes this in consideration....

because OSX.x doesn't have a strong implementation of Windows Live?

No.
First, Bungie isn't making Halo 2 Vista. Hired Gun is.
Second, Microsoft needs H2V as yet another booster for Windows Vista sales.
Third, Vista is a much more suited OS then OSX is (For anything at all).
Fourth, "Games For Windows Live For Windows Vista", as amazing as it may sound, is a VISTA-ONLY platform.
Fifth, Because no one wants to promote products from the worst brand in existence - Apple. Some can even argue that this brand, in fact, does NOT exist.

By getting a Mac, you have perhaps made the worst decision in your entire life. Correct your decision instead of begging for the world to correct itself based on your error.

Actually, then Microsoft loses potential Mac Users Upgrading to Vista for good.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Ok, Apple has been working on a pretty nice emulator for windows (vista, xp, etc....) that lets windows behave natively on a mac (intel mac only). The video drivers work relatively nicely to, I use it on my laptop and play HL2, Halo, and can play fear (not maxed but works nice enough), so in truth it will work, but you will pay a fair amount, but no port.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

There is one simple reason: Games For Windows - Live.

Now as it may be true that microsoft owns bungie...macs can run windows programs. so that settles that. But in addition it takes a long time for macs to get the games...like some games take a couple years before they are intigrated to mac. mac's can create the games well but they don't get to play them as quick as windows.

Well when it comes to gaming, Windows will be my first pick as an OS
But when it comes to stability, I'll go for OS X.

Anyways.. There seem to be some Mac users on here so.. why not give them some solutions instead of "starting a war"?
If you're using a mac with a PowerPC architecture you're probably not going to find any software that can virtually run Windows with Direct3D support..

Intel Core Duo and Intel Core 2 Duo, Quad Core Xeon processor owners can try:
-VMware Fusion (beta program): http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/fusion/
Note that this version of VMware is still a beta version and that it only supports up to DirectX 8.1, this could however change in the near future..

-Apple Bootcamp 1.2: http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
Takes full advantage of your Mac's EFI to virtualise a Windows OS
I use this to run Windows Vista Ultimate edition and it's pretty stable.

Of course you're going to need a copy of Vista to install this on your Mac HDD..
This should solve your problem if you're not using a PPC processor and if you've got enough money to buy Vista, then again the internet is a pretty big place.. Now all you need is Halo 2!

Cya 'round!

What sort of GPUs are in Macs anyway? Anything equal to a 7900GT or 8800GTX?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

There's this new thing called Cider that makes it much faster to port games from PC's to Macs

As I understand it, Cider is based on Cedega, and Cedega is a worthless mess. I know this from having a Transgaming subscription myself, not to mention reading the stories of woe from so many jaded users on the Transgaming forum. I doubt Cider would help much in getting Halo 2 running on a Mac. Also, I think the people who just put down Macs and their users need a back-handed lesson in manners. If you can't say anything nice, why not just keep it to yourself and save looking like a bullying little brat kiddy?

Windows are much better and they have bigger community = bigger choices

Mac users don't use games... do they? Aren't they busy with their HIGHLY sophisticated programs like iMovie and iPhoto? I mean, I'll admit, making an album out of photos and merging films together to make one film is FANCY stuff! No way I could do that with, say, a FOLDER, or MOVIE MAKER?! I think things like bitmaps and the right mouse button are a bit too simple for Mac users!

Seriously, I can't believe nobody's linked to this guy yet.

I have to say that Halo 2 isn't going to be ported to Mac anytime soon for the same reason it isn't being made for XP, and for the same reason Halo wasn't going to be made for the Mac (granted, they did port it in the end), and for the same reason Halo was never a PS2 game.
Bungie is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft owns the rights to Halo 2. Microsoft has a new operating system. If Microsoft makes Halo 2 exclusively for their new Operating System, all the people who would kill to play Halo 2 on their PCs have to get Microsoft's new operating system.
Simple enough.
Microsoft will only make Halo 2 for Windows Vista (in the beginning) so that people buy Windows Vista.

I hate halo 2, and I hate macs. I still think it should be ported. Microsoft is a company so obviously their primary and sole concern is business and profit, but from the consumer's point of view, gamers generally want as many people playing their game as possible, so would want it to be ported. Tell me 1 reason why it would affect you in a bad way if it was ported.

As a mac user (I guess BSD user would be more accurate, as I run Linux as well), I would like to see Halo 2 ported to OSX. Unfortunately, that's an unlikely prospect, as it would cost a large amount of money to port. As Recon stated, the only way it would happen is if some mac publisher bought the porting rights. Even then, it would likely end up like Black and White: Unable to play multiplayer cross-platform due to no Live support.

It's sad, but mac is not the gaming platform it was (and it wasn't much when it was). To be frank, unmodified macs just don't have the specs to run most games. If you're desperate to run games on your mac, the aforementioned program, Boot Camp, is really the only way to go.
Aren't they busy with their HIGHLY sophisticated programs like iMovie and iPhoto?
Actually, I'm more busy with my highly sophisticated programs like Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop ;) .

The mac is so enveloped to port any games they can over to their system. They have like, 6 or 7 games. Here here is a coool link.

As soon as mac is able to port Windows Live, then pigs will fly and they willl deliver Halo 2 Vista to all the overpowering mac users!

Because it is all about cost.

It is NOT as easy as getting some fancy "porting program" clicking a few buttons and then shoving the end result in a box. If it was that easy, the end user would have the program themselves and the mac community would be overflowing with new games left right and centre.

They would have to develop a team, work out the changes, program it, advertise it, publish, create the dvds and after all that make sure they sold enough of them to re-coup their costs. As the mac is generally not a gaming machine, but more based towards creativivity such as DTP and Music it is a risk to send a game out to it in case it comes back as a big money making loss.
