In your opinion, what do you believe is going to to happen to Halo PC after H2V (Halo 2 Vista) after it is released. What do you believe is going to become of it after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, etc. etc.

Also, has Bungie/Mircosoft taken down their dedicated servers in Halo PC?

Perhaps less players will play Halo, but by all means that doesn't mean Halo PC will be forgotten indefinitely. Hell, if Halo 2 turns out to be a disaster, everybody might turn back to the first Halo.

And maybe.

I would imagine that clans will be split. Some will say they are moving across to H2 and some will say its a load of rubbish and stay on H1. There will be an expense advantage to those that have Halo and CE servers because they could stop them both and pay for ONE that can be modded on H2.

I'd imagine the Bungie servers to survive another year at most. If they do keep them, i'd certainly expect them to stop the 'slayer / koth / oddball" servers and leave the CTF ones only.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Aren't all the Bungie servers gone? All I see are fakes run by clans.

If there is one thing my many years of PC gaming has taught me, it's that games don't die out. Ever. There will always be a few hardcore fans who'll play the game well into the future. Take SOF2:DH, that game came out in 2002, and there are still a couple hundred people playing it. Hell there are still people playing the old Dark Forces 2 game. And that game is like a decade old.

I play with friends who play the original Doom still XD. now thats old. Also Halo 2 Vista may be a good game but I don't think you'll lose many players from Halo PC just because alot of people don't want to upgrade to vista just yet. The population of Halo PC may lessen but there will be alot of people left over this coming May 8th.

What it is.

6 Months: Still steady
1 Year: Starting to decrease
2 Years: Down to probably 400-900 servers.

All in all, like mentioned, games wont ever "die" because those hardcore fans will still play.

If you want a game that won't ever be 'hacked' or have people cheating on then you may as well give up on-line gaming full stop. At least the halo code is server side so a lot of possible exploits can be controlled and stopped.

Also, i play halo on pc because i like playing halo and dont have anything else to play it on because i like to aim myself rather than letting a console aim for me.....

Now, what makes you think that? Don't stereotype. Yes, there are hackers on many computer games, but it's not like PC games have a tendency to have more cheaters. I don't understand why people think this, but it's not as bad as you think it is.

I just think you should know that I've played Halo PC for a considerable amount of time, and I met a cheater at least every other once in a blue moon.

I don't think it will completely die. I can still find lots of players on Starcraft and UT99, and those are almost 10 years old.

More people find ways to hack on xbox, less on the pc because little kids can't afford computers.

one, word parents.

Some parents are retarded, because they let their little seven year olds get on halo and play, then the parents get on when you tell them to GTFO, when really the should be getting owned at games like blues clues, or sesame street or something.

I disagree. If a child enjoys Halo, and his parent(s) think he is mature enough to handle the game and if they don't mind its contents, then that's perfectly fine in my book. I'm not past seventeen myself, are you?

I'm going to agree with Master Kim. The parents should be educating their kids that video games are just video games. They should not be mistaken for real life cause IRL shooting someone with a gun is a serious offense and you get locked away in prison for either a few years, or even for life. There's so much violence and bad influences in the world, and you can't "shelter" a kid forever.. the less sheltered the kid is, the better, cause then the kid will know "oh my parents said crack was bad I should avoid it otherwise I might get addicted and be messed up like Britney Spears" or something like that.. well, you get the point, lol. :)

Now, back ontopic... HaloPC will still live on. Look at Battlefield 1942, still plenty of players. Battlefield Vietnam sadly doesn't have much left, usually 400-600 per night, Battlefield 2 is still doing better than Battlefield 2142.. so really as long as there's fans for the game the games will be played. I'm sure Bungie will move some, if not all their servers to H2V though.

I for one will continue playin it, I like the rocket hog, and some of the features better, but who knows they may change it into a concoction of ultimate...ultimateness, and I'm waiting till Vista starter pack 1 like many other people, but i will need to put my computer through a mega serious upgrade befor i can even think about getting H2V, and I have no job at the moment, so until then its Halo PC all the way.

  • 04.05.2007 5:06 PM PDT

What it is.

^Apparently there has been an article that Vista wont have any plans on making a service pack due to the new built in features with Windows Update. That doesn't mean they cant release one, but since they can dish out minor updates bit by bit, they shouldn't have to. Anywho, back on topic, i think that Halo PC will still be going strong after the release but it's more of the long run that it wont last forever but long enough.
