I know Bungie is prone to keep secrets, but this isn't even major! I know no one can give out the release date of the Beta, or the Final Chapter, but can someone at least tell us when groups are going to come back?? Last time I remember, Bungie said the groups would only be down for 10 days(I'm probably wrong.)

Have the groups already come back and no one has said anything about it?? Is there a link or something??

Did we lose our privleges to be in groups??

................Did we ever even have them?????

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

One does not simply grenade jump into Mordor...

Given the fact that everyone enjoys using the groups and it keeps people coming to the site, I think it's safe to assume that they're actively working on it. I really think you're missing the mark if you try to view the lack of groups (Or the lack of information about when they'll return) as some sort of "secrecy policy". If they were at a point where the new groups system was running smoothly through all their tests, I guarantee they would let you know when they'll be online. I'm guessing that they don't want to say right now, because saying anything would be viewed as a commitment, and missing the implied "deadline" would be about the only way to bunch everyone's panties even further.

Haha, don't worry buddy, be patient. They'll come back eventually, but it won't be for awhile. Perhaps a LONG while. They definitely never said only ten days. Here's what Achronos has to say on the subject:

Yeah, don't hold your breath on that. We're doing them right, not to meet an artificial deadline. They'll be back when they're ready.

Four words, actually.

"in a few weeks"

The search took several years, uploading theme masters avatars took several years, so really expecting the groups before h3 goes gold is wishful thinking.

(please quote me and leave a witty comment about how wrong i am, Achronos.)

He won't....but i will. While I agree it will be a long time before Groups come back it's not that far out. Part of the reason halo 3 stats system is easier is because Bungie already had a viewable platform (halo 2 duh) to work off of. They most likely used most of the halo 2 code system for stats and made it run better and faster with new tech and the better Bungie.net. But now comes the really hard thing. Adding all these insane features they talk about. Not only do they now have to start from scratch but they are more advanced than Halo 2 stats. Bungie already has said that they spent 3-4 weeks on stats in Halo 2. And that Halo 3 would more than double that. They also have 2 full time web developers which also helps. But back on topic they have been working on groups but it all comes down to whats more important. They rush groups out and they are done wrong and halo 3 stats aren't any better than Halo 2 (which is fine for a first gen game) or they overhaul the Halo 2 stats engine and give us awesome new features and put groups on hold until it's a main project.

The reason Bungie keeps everything a secret is because you guys complain constantly as it is.
If they had announced that the groups would be down for 10 days and later discovered that it was going to take longer all you complainers would have erupted into cries of "ZOMG BUNGIE R TEH LIE TO US!!!!".
They keep secrets because there are often unforeseen delays. Secrets keep them from having to go back on their word.

Not that 30 of these threads a day aren't absolutely necessary.

Yes, but we are currently undecided on a few things. We wanted to add a few new features to them instead of just porting them over (well, what's worth it to port, most people don't use a lot of the resource types). However, due to the way a bunch of things are shaping up, we probably don't have time to do that soon. So, it is looking like we will do a simple porting of the groups as is, and come back and add the cool features we want when we can. We don't want to keep them off for so long just because of some timing issues. Scheduling things around here can be entertaining sometimes.

But they will come back, in one form or another.

Do we get anything whatsoever to make the downtime we've already experienced seem a bit more worthwile or will we be getting another Soon with a cute little T and M beside it?

Why don't you stop acting like a spoiled 6 year old stomping your feet because things aren't happening according to your special time-frame.
This is a fan site. Last I checked there are no monthly membership dues. Bungie doesn't make money from your presence here and therefore, a group is not owed to you for your forum participation. The groups are a currently suspended because Bungie is trying to improve them...in case you're wondering that means 'make them betta".
Let's review.

1) You do not pay to be there and, therefore, are in no position to make demands.
2) Bungie is not required to divulge information to us.
3) The groups are being improved, why rush it?

Still, information is not too much to ask for, is it?

He was not asking for the groups to return instantly, just for a time frame on when we can expect them to be back up.
