The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

You could have easily quoted the last two people or shortened the quotes but instead you didn't, so I decided to do what I saw fit. And I still do. Now back on topic, call me power drunk through PM's please, before I prove you right.

Powdered Toast Man, I couldn't agree more.

That's also one of the reasons I appear inactive these days. I'm very well active here, but I usually never post unless it's something that's worth my time (or spam. I admit it, I like spam. Good spam, that is). Otherwise, if it's just some troll flaming away, and he just totally deserves to get flamed... I won't participate; it's not worth my time to respond to trolls. Showing them that what they say has an effect on me is far worse than getting flamed, and not saying anything.

Call me crazy, but for a video game forum, Bungie has created an exceptional forum :) It's a video game website... and awesome one. How often do you see that? ;)

Could we keep the maturity level above borderline, please? That sentence is ripe with condescension.

Forgive me for trying to add humour. Personally, I like to use the PM system to discuss cute boyz, that was just an example. I didn't make an assumption of what you like to talk about... but it seems it hit a nerve... do you have something you want to admit, maybe? :)

That was ten times more obviously a joke than shivs "Did you run out of group threads to moderate, pezza?" post. I'm sorry you didn't get it...

Posted by: Mattbluhalofan
You could send your suggestions via PM and save yourself (and me) a lot of grief (but you'd mainly be helping the authors of every thread below the one you decided to bump).
Don't say I don't do that. Believe me, I do send "correction PM's" frequently, only that time I just felt like posting in the thread. The fate of the universe doesn't hang in the balance between me sending a PM and posting in a thread. Does this mean I condone posting corrections in threads? Hell no. It just means that if 1/8 bad threads has a correction in the thread itself, it's not a gigantic problem. That's one thread VS seven PM's.

Besides, another reason why I sometimes feel less than eager to send a PM, is because in the event that I do, I generally get -blam!-ed at. The person being "corrected" takes it personally, attacks me, I explain my reasoning, they get even more pissed off, and they label me "Public Enemy of the Day".

Which leads me back to my original point, people taking things too seriously.

What... like this entire thread? We know people suck, there's not much a website can do about that. All we can do is warn, ban and lock; and we do that.

Did you read my post as if I wrote it while disarming a nuclear weapon or something? I never said the world hangs in the balance, but it's still a pain in the arse to have even 1 thread bumped. It defeats the point of the forums, and if you are ruining the forums (no matter how small or big your impact is), I'm going to point it out to you until it finally eats its way through your skull. Don't reply to spam, it's not helpful. It's simple.

I find it funny how you create a serious thread intended for discussing how the forums are ruined by people who post negatively. Yet, when I tell you that you're also posting negatively, you tell me I'm taking you too seriously...

I'm sorry that people complain when you PM them? Users will get pissy if a member tells them they're doing something wrong. You just have to be as polite as possible and deal with it. Oh, and PM a moderator to lock the thread and explain, there and then, why it was an infraction of the rules.

Sounds like you're condoning it here...

"This would be better suited for The Underground. And please refrain from bumping."

Does that sound forum coppish? No. It sounds like a helpful member.

Did I say I was called a hypocrite for doing that? No, I was called a hypocrite for posting this thread.

Oh ok, I misunderstood. But... still... I'd say you were a hypocrite for the latter too. The forums that you say I just took take sincerely, are the same forums you've dedicated a mini-essay to improving.

I'm disappointed that when for the first time, ever, i don't troll one of these "omfg the community sux" threads, my serious post is ignored in favour of the trolls. I should have just trolled, more fun that way :(.

Aha, and my random rambles lead me onto another point, again, one that's been raised by Achronos. If there's no incentive to be a good member, and when someone tries to do something that may just have some small worth, he/she gets derided by everyone in sight, even some of the moderator posts in here have been astounding.

Ah yes here's a great example of being shot down by the very respected Halo 3 forum users...Link

I wrote to trigger happy about it. He made me calm down a bit, I was in a tiff. It just seems like the H3 forum needs more attention. If all the smart, or at least commons sense members leave because of the trolls, then it will make the situation worse!!

Don't mind my ranting, just notice how badly people are treated on the H3 forums, I guess it's still getting to me.

Shiv, its kinda hard to tell whats a joke and whats not, without writing /sarcasm or /joke

Well that's really not the point of shivs post. He was stating that he and Chomskyte/Roki7 were having a discusion, and was not really a quote pyramid, becuase a quote pyramid usually deals with spam, and whatnot. Although I am not one to agree with shiv...what Pezza did was merely stupid. That should not have counted as a quote pyramid or better yet, breaking the rules, becuase it was an argument (to an extent), and I actually liked reading each post until he ended it, thnx a lot Pezza. Bad moderating FTW!

Everyone comes around sooner or later.

I totally agree with the subject of this thread. I may or may not be right.. I'm just taking a stab, but I would bet money on the fact that it is because everybody here wants to be a moderator. Its just the "mentality" of this place.. its so obsessed with the hierarchy of this community and the ones who are on top. I know there are people out there who don't care also, and you can so "oh, no I don't want to be!!" all you want. Good for you. Don't act like thats what you're trying to do then. You don't act like that in real life, and there's no need to have some kind of helpful 1337 alter ego. Just be yourself.

We're on two levels of negative.

My negative is people being irrational dicks, and I don't feel like going into further detail, as I already have. Your negative is someone "replying to a spam thread", even in the event that they are posting something helpful.

Oh, and PM a moderator to lock the thread and explain, there and then, why it was an infraction of the rules.

I'm well aware of how to do that, thank you. The fact remains, I don't like to call a moderator in unless it's a serious infraction, and the thread creator has done something seriously. Again, I do it for their well being. Calling in a moderator for a "wrong forum" thread to me is like calling 911 because your dad cheated at a game of poker with his friends (which actually has happened before, for the record).

Sounds like you're condoning it here...

Dorian again! My message was helpful. The means in which it was delivered, yes, not exactly helpful, but we've been down this path before.

Oh ok, I misunderstood. But... still... I'd say you were a hypocrite for the latter too.

I cannot help but fail to see hypocracy in wishing for a change in jackass members.

The forums that you say I just took take sincerely, are the same forums you've dedicated a mini-essay to improving.

I'm going to try my hardest to comprehend this jumble of letters. My analysis is that you say it's hypocritical to make a serious thread about people needing to be less serious.

That's true in one sense. But if a problem needs to be addressed and fixed, it has to be made public, hypocracy aside (though I think that's a little extreme).

I'm just going to ignore Pure Rain, as he is one of the members here who is a bastard coated bastard with bastard filling.[/scrubsreference]

And I swear to god, If anyone says "Oh, so you don't reply to him, but you reply to a spam thread?", I don't know what I will do, but it won't be pretty.

I could see this happening. It never happened to me, personally, but it was a news story a few weeks ago. A girl found out her dad was cheating at a poker game, so she called 911.

Look, we can't stop people from disagreeing with us. Ever. It's just the way things are in life. What we can do is learn ways to deal with it. Sometimes, it's best just to let things run their course and wait for people to forget about it. People who continue to post negative comments with no insight onto the topic will get be dealt with eventually. Until then, all you can do is ignore them.

Yeah, I don't have much to add, other than the fact that I don't care.

Hmm, I was planning on quitting right there, but that would probably cause some confusion, an piss several people off.
Yes, the OP has a certain point. People are too serious. They care too much.
Those disagrees with him make valid points as well.

Serious (hahahahaha), so what if someone wants to be a moderator. Let him.
So what if someone tells a person that he posted in the wrong forum. Sure, it may be bumping, but at least this way others might read it and know where to post or not.
So what if someone calls you a forum cop. -blam!- happens.

I admit, I rather have have you guys help me take care of things, than trying to be a helpful member and just screw up.
If I see someone play a forum cop, I might warn him, depending on the situation. No, lately it is as if we all seem to have forgotten one of the most important rules from the Code of Conduct: Love Thy Neighbor. Or at least tolerate them publicly.
