I couldnt find where to post this but i thought id put it here because its most relavent to H1.

Iv not read the books, but read about them. And the Forerunners build onyx as a kind of bomb-shelter for the rings detonation right?
- So why did the Forerunners get wiped out. Weren't they planning on going into onyx and making a slipspace jump out of the range of the explosion or something?

Also. Why were they so contempt as to wipe out the flood that theyd build weapons capable of destroying galaxies...? With such technology, coudnt they have just ignored them

...And so the hero crawled through the fissure on the surface of Tyr. There, the lone Dwarf stared into the cold, dark eyes of Soulblighter...The fiend hefted his blade over his shoulder as a flock of raven took upon his form...

The Flood are very intelligent. Evidence of this shows the Flood escaping off of Delta Halo with the Gravemind via piloting In Amber Clad in Halo 2. We have seen the Forerunner's technology. If the Flood capture Forerunner hosts then they could use this technology against them. Thus creating a huge war. The Halos don't really destroy the galaxies, just all sentient life. With a self-sacrifice, they could rid the universe of the Flood infestation. Though, much speculation believes that the Humans were the Forerunners, but evidence contradicts that idea. " Ignoring " is what they probably did by the idea of containing the Flood on the Halos, which was an early idea of what the Halos were used for against the Flood though could not be true.
