Last night I was playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live when I happened upon a common occurrence. A few self righteous pricks with big mouths. Doing the socially acceptable thing I told them to do the rest of the world a favor and go kill themselves. Well they thought it would be just awesome if they ripped my Xbox Live account and took my Debit Card number as well as several others, and began rattling off all of this information.

Right away I put a stop on my Checking account and reported the problem to my bank. Later that night they tried to buy stuff on Live with my number. So no financial disasters….yet..

Today I called Microsoft, and they were very helpful. They referred me to their “escalations” department and have yet to call back to pursue my case.

So as recommended by my bank, I call the FTC, where I learn that these kids can get off on the technicality that they didn’t “steal” anything, only my information. The only thing that I can really prosecute for is the fact that they threatened to send a pipe bomb to my home address. Yes, you heard me they threatened to bomb my family.

Am I the only one sick of insolent little -blam!-s getting away with stuff like this. Whether or not they caused any immediate financial damage of no concern to me, they not only have my Xbox Account, but access to my previous Debit Card, and they claim to have my Social Security Number. With all the other stuff they’ve pulled I’m inclined to believe them.

I am still doing all I can to prosecute them, they have all of my information and no one is helping me out. The government doesn’t care that my identity has essentially been stolen. Microsoft keeps transferring me; only my bank has done anything.

Does anyone have any ideas? Here is all the information I currently have on them:

Xbox Live Gamertags:
*LI LeGeNd LI < - Did the deed, and threatened my family.
Opiate911 ( seany_river911@hotmail.com)
*xCody Iz SicK
I Run 3scap3 I

I have had to put up with all kinds of cheaters while playing Halo, no one is helping me give these pricks what they deserve.

LI LeGeNd LI Also Called Himself God. He told me he decides who gets to have an account and who doesn't.

Yea well I'm sick of not being able to do anything, and they threatened to send a pipe bomb to my house. Bungie or Microsoft has to have these kids information. I just need a name and contact info. like a phone number and address.

I don't see how they can get that info from you. What did they do, hack your account?

Apparently, the only information I provide on Bungie.net is my email address, they also used my profile to play games while I was in classes.

Well, first off, death threats are punishable by law. Secondly, stealing that stuff is identity theft, also punishable by law.

Call the police. Xbox Live (and/or Microsoft) will easily turn over people who are giving other people death threats and stealing credit card numbers etc. That's illegal activity. Anonymity only goes so far.. If they actually did all this, and believe they'd get away with something like that, they're highly mistaken, as long as you go to the right people about it.

I did that, but no one will do anything because they haven't technically stolen anything yet. The bomb threat was made online so apparently its just "my word against theirs".

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I'm not sure if I believe you -- your post contains several inconsistencies and I'm always suspicious when people start naming names. You may just have some kind of personal vendetta.

However, if what you're saying is true, then the FTC person you talked to is an idiot. An attempt to use your stolen credit card information is a violation of the law, as is hacking into Microsoft servers to obtain the information. If you're truly concerned, call them back and ask to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about.

What inconsistencies? Naming names is the only way I can do anything right now. They already have tried twice to charge to my checking account. I already tried to speak to someones else but I was told the same thing. Because I put a stop on the card and prevented them from carrying out the transactions, the only part of my case that had merit was the death threat, and even then its not like I had it recorded.

Do it! They would get more time for that than they would for stealing.

I don't have their names or information. Thats why I'm trying to get some support so Microsoft or Bungie will give me the means to pursue this.

Bungie won't have anything to do with it.

Contact Microsoft and demand, no kind talk, demand to talk to the tech supports Supervisor. Then tell that person of all of these things going on. I you can, provide proof, not just their names, but everything you have against them. Then, if the supervisor says they cannot do anything, tell them that what they are saying BS. According to their Code of Conduct and Terms of Use, yes I have read them both, they would take care of situations like this when they occur. Other than this, you are all on your own. There is nothing that talking to these kind folks will do. No matter how hard you plea and this website, nothing will happen.

Well I called Microsoft. They verified my information and told me to wait for a call from their "escalations" department. I have yet to hear back from them.

Honestly, they probably won't contact you. Many people that I know are also waiting for them to call. But then again, their issues weren't as serious as this. Best of luck to you.

Did you send Feedback about them? or you can try to send Bungie an Email explaning what happened because what you just discribe sound's like a crime. But if you email Bungie you can try to at least get them banned forever for starters.

Live life the way you want to...

Well when I get xbox live {if I do} i'm going to have it on a certain account, and then a week before the pay is due I will transfer the money needed into that account, that way I won't lose anything. And if microsoft won't do anythiong then they are a bunch of unbelievable idiots.

Bungie cannot, and most likely will not, do anything. It is not bungie's fault, it is Microsoft's. They are the holders of the information, not bungie. It is not, in any way shape or form bungie's fault. This type of thing can happen in any game, which is exactly why I only play with friends now days.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

This thread is inappropriate for the public forums, for several reasons.

1. Legal issues and customer service issues involving security should be taken up using the proper channels (Xbox Live Support).
2. Bungie has no personal information of you - so any stealing going does not involve any Bungie run reasources and is therefore off-topic here.
3. Most likely no "hacking" was done - a social engineering attack was performed (they had your email address, if you didn't secure your Windows Live ID properly, they can basically take over anything connected to that). Again, though, that would not involve Bungie in any way.

Thread locked - offtopic/inappropriate.

Not Bungie's problem i'm afraid. All i can suggest is that you be careful with giving out information (in this thread alone you've given us your email address). Also, retaliating by saying harmful things to people like this really won't help you at all. Next time you catch someone doing something they shouldn't be doing on live, leave feedback.
