Subject: New Hired Gun Blog is up.

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

For those interested there is a new blog up by Hired Gun. It has a story and a small Q&A.

And yes I am lazy so you will have to copy and paste again. LOL

So you don't even need the disk after installation? Sounds like a space killer to me...

I hope you don't mean space killer as in less hard drive space taken up, because you still need to install it...

Good find, by the way.

I'm rolling my eyes at this whole "Tray and Play" nonense. Are people so impatient they can't wait 5 minutes to install a game and get vastly superior speed rather than playing it from a disc?

Also, it's not uncommon to be able to run a game straight off the disc if you go through the contents anyway, and this is basically what this is. Pretty stupid, I have to say.

I mean space killer as in it takes up more space.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I believe the technology that lets you not need the disc after it is installed is the same tech that is used in FSX.

Great find, But I'd really like it if they talked more about the overall performance and gameplay of H2V. I really don't care how long it takes to load a game. I can wait but apperantly, some people have like heart attacks and want to play the game the first second its put into the Cd/DvD Drive. I believe that it's better to wait for it to load. I mean for Halo Pc.. The installing time was not long at all. It seemed to go fairly quick and then the action began. I sure hope that in the future, we will get new info on Maps/Gameplay/Performance.

True While cool it won't break or make the game. I know I'll probably just do a full install while I get everything ready for my marathon session of Halo 2 multiplayer. That will take the longest because I'll have to find a good server to regularly play on.

It's not any technology. The reason why you can't play without the disc in most cases is because of a design choice by the developers to try and cut down piracy, not that it will last more than 5 minutes.

I'm talking about the activation technology.

Theres' no technology behind Tray and Play either, if that's what you mean by activation.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

This will definitely free up a drive for me. I've Halo in my CD-ROM drive since January.

Replying to Btcc22:

It still installs it, it's just that you can install it while youre playing. But, if you want to spend 10 minutes installing it before you play, go ahead.

rather than risking glitches i'll stick with 10 min. (even if glitches are fun).

I totally agree. It's five minutes of installation, big deal. Personally, I think we'd be better off without it. It just means more and more immature gamers will have one less obstacle to start playing online and annoy other players.

Doubt it. When little kids go to look for Halo 2 Vista at the store, they're not going to know what "Tray and Play" is, furthermore, I doubt they are going to know how to use it. They will probably just install it like they know how to.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

I would love to know about all these "glitches" that Tray and Play supposedly has, to me it sounds like a cool feature, say, if you have to re-install for some reason? Put the disk in, get into the game.

And I don't see how it would run slower from the disk, seeing as this technology is intended to eliminate the traditional "play from disk" headaches, there is little point of this tech if all it did was install the game in the background, but you still had the lag etc. that you traditionally get when you play from disk.

Which I believe they made perfectly clear, you can pop in the disk and start playing as if the game was already installed, aka none of the normal lag you would expect playing from disk.

What it is.

I think this new feature is cool and optional. Personally i just think it makes it easier all-in-all. I will probably use it, i mean, it is only the first time you put it in too, after that you can lock your game in a safe and play without it(until the next time you need to re-install/install it).
