"Inside every cynical person is a disappointed idealist."
George Carlin

Every week it seems that I have to clear my cache just for this new site to work properly. Almost everytime there is a problem with the site, someone tells you to clear your cache. Now that's fine now and then, however it gets old. I'm getting tired of resetting things for other sites, retyping emails and passwords, and redoing certain information... all for one site I visit. I mean, it gets really, really old.

Is there a plan to fix this?

Oh, boo hoo.

I shouldn't have to clear my cache so much for one site. You can tell me to stop whining all you want, but when you have a site that represents the something like Bungie, there has to be a line for how user friendly things are.

You only have to press two friggin' keys. It's not that big of a deal.

I edited my other post.

No, it's not just 2 keys. When you clear your cache, it clears your internet history. When that happens, I have to retype in all the sites I visit. Most aren't just www.word.com... they are extensions that I would have to find through links. So now, inorder to visit Bungie.net, I have to have all my long urls with me just incase. I also I have to retype in my email and password for everythin I go to. That's just a jist of it.

Wrong. If you delete your browsing history, you have to retype your passwords. To clear your cache, all you have to do is press Ctrl+F5.

Double wrong. ;)

"Browsing History" clears all of your web pages you've visited. For example: When you type in "b" up top in the address bar it shows "Bungie.net" if you've visited there. If you clear your browsing history, it will not get rid of your passwords etc.

If you clear your cache and/or cookies, that will delete your passwords, etc.

For the record, I never have to clear my cache to view this website properly... It's been working fine for me.

I meant to type, "If you clear your private data." Oops.

I don't understand why clearing your cache is that big of a deal. I do it every single time I use the internet at home. I thought this was just common practice, but I guess it isn't. I never have my passwords saved anywhere.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Most of the time when people say "clear your cache" they are giving you incorrect information. For example, today, we changed some of the stylesheets. That caused some people whose browsers and or proxies cache such static information for a longer time than others to not see the forum headers. They can repair it with a simple "force reload" (ctrl-F5 in IE). Does the same thing as a cache-clear, but only for what you're loading on that page. Of course, you don't have to do it - evetually your browser will update its cache.

The major "clear cache" problem - the thing with Passport, was fixed a while ago. The system no longer attempts to infintely load bad Passport cookies - it just clears them itself.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about your browser not checking for updated stylesheets on every request. That is a client-side setting, and not something I can change. The default doesn't always work real well, especially behind a proxy.

Today marks our first code refresh of the new site. While we've hotfixed it a few times, this was the first big deployment of new code. Aside from some performance work on the forum caching, you should also notice the private message counter behaving much better as well as a few Halo 2 stat-related bug fixes. We've also fixed lots of little display issues with various browsers. In terms of new features, you'll notice that the Halo 2 friend leaderboards are back.

Be sure to post in the Bungie.net Community forum regarding feedback. Also, send your bugs to bnetbugs@microsoft.com.

Seeing as Achronos has worked on the forum caches, the occurances of your problem may become less frequent, or eliminated completely.

Cross your fingers.

Edit: Nevermind, Achronos has had his say.

2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I may be going out on a limb here.. but maybe you could.. I don't know.. bookmark the sites with long extended names?

Ok thank you. I am not the expert on computers, much less internet and browsers.
