They do work on different projects. I'm guessing they have certain teams that work on separate things simultaneously to get more work done.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Does anyone have a rough estimate?

This may be an obvious question, but why doesn't bungie spawn into multiple groups to work on more than one game at a time? I know they value the integrity of their games very highly.

Also how many people left the team after the first Halo was launched? I've heard rumors of people leaving, and was wondering how many, and how important said people were to the team.

Working for Bungie is like working for Kaiser Soze.

"Bungie rarely works with the same people for very long, and they never know who they're working for. One cannot be betrayed if one has no people."

In a way, everybody on the planet works for Bungie. It's part of the seven-step plan.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

There are currently around 100 people working for Bungie. But that number differs because of the "contract" employees. But, I liked Foman's Kaiser Soze answer too. Although, everyone knows that there is NO Kaiser Soze!!

Good answers. So what about the people who left bungie sometime during the Halo projects?

Even with the people who left, for example Hoberman, they were replaced by others. Actually, when CE was made, I think it was around 60 people, when Halo 2 shipped, it was around 80, and while working on Halo 3, it's around 100. Now, this is just from my memory and my experience here on B.net, so I could be completely wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they are around those numbers. The reason why they don't split into several teams is because it takes a lot of people to develop a game. Especially one as big as Halo 3. I mean, it takes teams of artists, engineers, writers, sound people, you name it to make a game.

So who exactly were the people who left? Anyone important?

I only ask because people on another forum I frequent have said in the past "all the good people have left bungie".

I work for the Department of Defense.

Max Hoberman Left the team to go create his own company. I believe that Shihska (couldn't find his real name) was the only other employee to tag along.

That is correct, Chad Armstrong aka Shishka aka Lord British aka is a Peg...nevermind, was the only other Bungie employee to leave to go to CA, or at least that I know of. However, the people that made CE are not all accounted for in the current staff. Some others have left the company even before Hoberman and Armstrong did. How many, and exactly who they all are, are outside of my knowledge.

Most people would consider Alex Seropian as a fairly important person that left Bungie. It really doesnt get much bigger than him.

Alex Seropian is pretty much the most important person. Even Jason Jones isn't as important.

Dunno how you figure that, but whatever. Alex is certainly very important, as he's half the reason why Bungie exists, but remember that Jones is the other half.

People come and go after every project at every studio. It's perfectly normal.

I believe Bungie is currently in the triple digits as far as population is concerned. I believe there were around a hundred people at the height of development on Halo 2, as well.

See, that's what I heard. Around 90 or so, in one of the older updates, but I'm sure now they're up in the 100s.

I meant that he is probably the most important person that has left Bungie.
