really, stop crying. ranking up was never nor will it ever be difficult if you're of a decent skill level.
i'm a pretty good player, i play a few games of mlg everyday, but most of the time i play mm with my the worst of my friends. we monkey around the entire time, but we still win the majority of our matches, barring we go into full-out betray-eachother-with-needlers mode. i just carry everybody. i mean, it's not HARD. it's not WORK. it's simply shooting the dudes on your screen. even if you're not as good as me and you get bridged/modded every few games, with 4 of your friends going in together calling out the enemy locations (like saying car3, br2, etc) it's relatively easy. unless you're downright awful.
5 easy steps:
1. get a to4
2. go in together
3. use teamwork
4. win
5. get up to whatever level you want
also, listen to the mod dude with the odd-colored font. having a rank doesn't determine your skill; it's just a way of putting people together so they can have a nice little match of halo and have a bit of fun. if it were the true end-all be-all determinant of skill, i'm sure groups of 4 wouldn't get matched up against randoms who just get bundled onto 1 team together and we'd all be playing mlg gametypes instead of smg start radar or whatever it is in team slayer. those gametypes are designed to be fun to play anyways, and apparently not for serious business competition or else we wouldn't have ridiculous instances where 2 snipers on top of small tower on ascension are picking off kids at banshee pad right off spawn. if you're serious about being skillful and stuff, go to a tournament... don't wave around a number.
