hey, about half a year ago i played halo for pc and i had all graphics maxed and 1024x704 (or whatever it is) resolution but.. alas i got bored of the game. then about a week ago i had an urge i guess you could say so i installed halo and started playing. but shockingly i was only recieving about 10-15 fps. even when i lower everything and lower resolution i get 20 fps max! i am currently running oblivion, counterstrike, half life2, WoW. everything at 30-40 fps. i just dont get it? i even upgraded my graphics driver. my specs..

ATI X200
512 mb ram
pentium 4 3.06 ghz

and email me at R_O_G_E_R_V@hotmail.com for my DXDIAG.

try a virus scan, some times that helps

never heard of it but AVG takes about a hour or more for a scan

id suggest trying multiple anti viruses so if one doesnt pick up a virus and another does, then you know the one that didnt is crap

try checking your processes? very unlikely but it might be.
press -Ctrl+Alt+Del.
then go right to processes and check what's hogging your CPU.
try re-installing Halo if there is no processes.

Do you have any type of Vista( even Vista transformation Pack), they could cause you computer to slow down a bit, or try unuinstaling of of the games, probably Oblivion,

well actually it was only REALLY bad in the 2nd mission ( Halo i think ) where it was all outside and stuff but still... i used to play it at everything maxed! now i got it at all low. Yes i've uninstalled oblivion and wow because i never use them but it still hasnt fixed completely. i cant find any processes that are taking up alot of CPU that i dont need. reinstalling doesnt work either.. im stumped. and no i dont have any vista things.

again, if you want to see my DXDIAG, email me at R_O_G_E_R_V@hotmail.com and ill send you it. i would post it but the halo forums are scrwed and it only lets you post 10,000 characters.

I think the X200 is sort of old. At least try upgrading to an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro. The Pentium 4 is good. Try upgrading the RAM. At least 768MB or 1 GB so your computer can run more programs simultaneously. If you don't want to spend money, you might want to get an updated driver.

x200 is intergrated, I used to have it, and it sucked. I upgraded to a 7600gt, and all my games ran fine on max.

yeah i'm aware that X200 absolutley blows ;(. but what i dont get is i can run counterstrike source, half life 2, heck even oblivion ( with a somewhat playable framerate ) but not halo which is the least requiring. i have been thinking of upgrading but i just recently got a PS3 and im not really in the position. like i said, i used to run it perfectly with all the same specs, not a thing has changed.

Did you update your drivers since then? If so, roll back, BF2142 plays slowly on my PC with the Nvidia 93.71 drivers, but runs quite nicely with the 91.47 drivers, all Source engine games have problems with both of those, but they run much better with the 88 series drivers, try to experiment a bit.

Did you install the drivers that came with the video card when you reformatted your PC?

Well then let me take a step back and ask: Did you install ANY drivers for your video card after you reformatted? Because if your PC came with XP preloaded then it would already have the Drivers for the GPU(mine did). But if you reformatted and reinstalled windows, then I don't think it will still have the drivers available.

ok i got my computer, everything was installed, all the latest drivers and everything. i was kinda noob and never updated drivers (actually i didnt even know what a driver was but thats besides the point) so what it came with i had untill i formatted the computer. ever since ive been updating whenever i can. unfortunatly i didnt get the same drivers as i had when i first got the computer, i had to install every single driver for every dam thing when i reformatted my computer meaning that i got all the latest updates.

Well, you can roll back to a previous driver version. I think ATI keeps an archive on thier website. Other than that, go buy a new card.
