I'm here to gather and share ideas about groups and how to make them better when they come back.
What do you think will make it easier for group to become more user friendly?
Possible topics?
Rank-system?
What is it?
Yes, I am basicly asking it from you as I have made groups earlier. One of them managed to get some 50 active members until that petty "group-war", I had to leave my group to someone else because I was "noob" back then and didn't know how to make change my accounts password, so someone knew my e-mail address and "cracked" my password, thus destroying my group.
After that it was hard to get people active in my other groups. So I was thinking that we could use this thread as sharing ideas about how to make groups active, and if by any chance, maybe create one group-idea which would be bestest group in whole B.net... eh?
Maybe not.
Rank-system and how to make it work?
Only three ranks, or should groups have more? How to decide who gets one, "promotions", contests with promotion prizes? Those rarely work?
Help?
Groups are active if they have good members. What attracts good members is decent content (not just stupid ranks and competitions), and a group founder who actually cares about the group - one who is working toward a goal - not some illiterate child who wants to gain as many members as possible for bragging rights.

Well, there's a guide for creating groups right here in the Septagon Stickies; it's got some good information! When groups come back there's one called "Chapter Founders" that you should look out for - it is dedicated to helping people start groups and run them effectively. :]
As for new group features, we really won't know until we get them back so...
I don't think Chapter Founders is such a great example to use there, nor something for budding group founders to aspire to. It lacks any significant content or forum activity.
