Well, one way is you reinstall Windows XP or whatever. That way, you have to format your hard drive, making you back up EVERYTHING you want. Another way is locate the Halo directory. Uninstall Halo and delete the folder. If you are using Windows XP, Go to My Documents, then go to My Games. Delete the folder "My Games." That should get rid of everything in Halo. Note by deleting the "My Games" Folder, you will also get rid of all of your profiles. If you want to ONLY delete the maps, don't ask me for imstructions on that. Good luck!

Maw

If that doesn't work, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo (by default) and delete the "MAPS" folder. Then reinstall and make sure to check "repair".

ok i will try that but when i tried repairing and reinstalling the first time it said an old folder is replacing a new one, do you want to keep the old file? if i hit no the game wouldnt run, if i hit yes i still got the mod problem i have been having.

You used halo map tools, meaning you modified a map. So simply delete the map before you reinstall. What's happening is that the reinstaller sees that the map is still there so doesn't overwrite it.

Ahhh my friend you have broken so many modding rules that I can't even begin to explain, ok obvouisly if you know how to access the map then you are capable of right-clicking and creating a new folder and copying correct?
Go here please:http://www.halomods.com
And don't reinstall windows, ok, sure it will fix it but this is way easier.

The cardinal rule when modifying ANY computer file is: MAKE A GODDAMN BACKUP BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING! It will rock your world.

DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM! He's retarded.

Completly uninstall Halo first of all. Then install it to a different directory, it is the easiest way, it happened to me twice.

Yeah, he's not too bright. You should only need to reformat your HD and reinstall Windows if you break Windows (which isn't easy, believe me, I've tried). If you break a program, just uninstall it, and do some registry diving to root out all the entries related to the program.

halo2vista. Stop giving people tech support advice. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

You do NOT need to reinstall the game to replace broken map file, they are contained in .cab file on the cd. Open the cab files with a program such as winrar and replace the ones in the maps directory with the ones on the cd.

That won't work with his problem.

Oh yeah, messing up Windows isn't that hard, just change a few things in the registry, right click your Windows drive (most likely C) and click format, whatever :)

Well, messing with the registry and formatting the C: drive is the most obvious way to screw up Windows. Any moron can do that.

His problem is he doesnt know what he is doing. There is no way for halo to use an old map file(the modded one) if it doesnt exist anymore.
